I don't want Adi to fix this either. Yeah, sure, he could come back and support Mets - but this has got to be her fight.

I can't believe what Pranay said to Paro when she tried to talk to him - "Don't interfere in husband-wife matters"??? What a crock 🀒 If Janki doesn't come out and rip him to shreds today, I am going to have one major complaint

Now all that remains to be seen is a)whether the family believes Mets and Paro and b)will they accept marital rape as a crime, or will they be close minded and say that it is a husband-wife affair? 🀒

I find rape disturbing, even to watch on TV, but if it's about real life, it DOES need to be shown and portrayed, but TBH the way Ekta shows rape isn't good.

Also, Ekta serial's rape stories do have one good thing, they open peoples mind a bit more to rape, for example Maithali and Praney, people say a husband can't rape his spouse, but it does happen, and it just makes the audience more avvare in real life.

^I agree. I think that such cases *should* be shown on TV, because even in the 21st century, the mindset of most Indians/Asians (not stereotyping, just an observation of mine) is blind to the issues of marital rape, and the culpability of the man. So in a way, showing the empowerment of women is a good thing. BUT, like I have mentioned previously, Ekta uses this issue to her own benefit, dragging storylines, where the K heroines mindlessly suspect each and every male member of the family, giving them cause to "turn evil" at any given opp...plus the copious amounts of tears that these women shed...and tracks that drag along for months on end...that's sensationalism, and is as bad as the media getting hold of a "story", spicing it up, adding blaring sound effects and broadcasting it day and night to all and sundry.

I wish that, just for once, K soaps would handle sensitive issues sensitively.

I have something to say.

Rape is a sensitive issue not to be floundered by T.V or seral producers like EKTA.

ask me I should know, I almost did but managed to get away in time - but the scars they leave are terrible you can feel the pain of being held down for days afterwards never mind the mental torture!

But I also agree that this case of MARITAL rape should be discussed here, because it is something not recognised by most governments as they believe that a woman cannot claim she has if she has already given herself to the husband.

Well, so the promo was true... 😭 Parvati unfortunately didn't succeed in saving Maithali... 😭 😭 😭 but first, total credit where its due... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ to all the actors involved in that entire scene... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ Shalini, really really good... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ first she had the guts to blast Pranay off over his sickening and disgusting thought process... πŸ‘ and then the fear and shock of what happened to her... 😭 very well done Shalini... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ and Jeetu... 😊 the very fact that each and every member here wants to rip Pranay to shreds 😑 (me included) proves he did an excellent job... πŸ‘ his character is just... 🀒 🀒 🀒 but the actor proved himself yest... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ and Saakshi... aw, I'm gonna save talking about her for later... πŸ˜ƒ coz I'm gonna need a long time... 😳

Coming back to the rape... well, firstly I disagree with all who say that rape sequences should not be shown on T.V. Rape is a very serious issue... which has to be tackled very delicately and sensitively... and that is exactly what I felt they managed to potray in yest's rape sequence... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ they managed to bring out the total horror of a rape 😭 and the plight of the victim Maithali very, very strongly. πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ There was nothing cheap or vulgar in that scene in my opinion... it was shot in as decent a manner possible... can't be more decent coz rape in itself is the most horrifying act. 🀒 🀒 🀒 U can't have a decent rape, 🀒 its just as simple as that... Coming to the dialogues... well, how else do u expect a rapist to talk??? 🀒 The dialogues just reflected Pranay's disgusting mindset and thoughts... 🀒 coz only a disgusting person... a mentally sick person could have behaved in the animal like way he did... 😑 😑 😑 And yeah, marital rape is a very serious and very neglected issue... If they show this issue handled well, I think it would be very good... 😊 Just wanna see Pranay punished... 😑 tossed into jail and left to rot... 😑 and there is one person who is going to do it against all odds... πŸ‘ including dumping her family... Parvati!!! πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ Yeah, she isn't going to spare Pranay an inch... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ waiting for her reply today. As far as the talk about increasing TRP's by showing a rape goes... well, that's like saying... that the audience enjoys watching rapes... 🀒 and that in itself is disgusting. 🀒 No, this is a very serious issue and I'm sure it will be dealt with in the proper manner. πŸ‘ If yest was any indication... it will be dealt with properly, touchwood... coz yest's scene managed to do a very important thing... πŸ‘ it brought about the much deserved sympathy for the victim for a change... 😭 😭 😭 not our usual... 🀒 'oh it must have been the girl's fault somehow' mindset, which is a very unfortunate reality till date.. and marital rape... in this country India, that term doesn't exist...🀒 very sadly I may add...😭 if they bring across such a serious issue to the forefront, I don't see anything wrong with it... I think the scene was very well shown... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ coz it managed to bring across what a horrifying act rape is... 🀒 and also... that whether its a stranger or a husband...😑😑😑 no damn man 😑has any right to force himself on a woman... very well brought across point...πŸ‘

And coming to Saakshi... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ aw, this woman is brilliant... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ what a performance. πŸ˜ƒ Right from the second they showed Parvati hear the first signs of what was to come... 😭 😭 😭 she was horrified but still kept her wits about her and rushed to save Maithali... πŸ‘ the way she yelled into the phone in absolute desperation to somehow get Pranay to stop his horrifying act... 🀒 clinging to her cell just to be able to hear Maithali's voice... 😭 😭 😭 and then, the shock hitting her when she opened that window and saw what had happened 😭 and took those 2 faltering steps into the barn... horrified at what she was about to see... 😭 😭 😭 absolutely fabulous... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ aw, this woman is the best actress ever, touchwood... πŸ˜ƒ simply brilliant... πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘

I agree about 'husband can't rape his spouse' issue but didnt Ekta showed it in Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? Except Karan and Tulsi, no one believed Nandini.

Ekta serials just make a mockery out of rapes. KT's rape was handled extremely badly. Its like if you start something atleast end it decently. If Maithili becomes super-strong- does that mean only rape can make a woman strong??

The laws do realize and by definition rape is: any forced sexual act whether between a husband and a wife or any girl and guy. It is just people who dont come forward.

Hi. Well, firstly ur point about Kyunki...no one believed Nandini except two people...😭 u know yaar...that reflected a very poor reality of Indian society...🀒 here there is no concept as marital rape...🀒 yeah, there is as per the law... but in general society... the accepted norm is that a husband can do anything with his wife...😑 the mindset is, oh what rape between a husband and wife? Kyunki in that track and Kahaani yest only highlighted this point... πŸ‘and I'm glad they did... coz the strong reaction proves that no one is willing to take such issues lightly anymore... πŸ‘I'm glad that the shows have brought such a serious issue up... πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Winnie, while I agree that rape by definition cannot be made sensitive, it is the treatment aftermath of the rape - what happens next - that I disagree with.

As for this issue about TV serials "empowering" real women to come forward - I don't think that is necessariy true. In real life, not every rape victim has a Parvati or Tulsi to fight for them. In real life, women don't murder their sons for raping ther d-i-l's or if they do, they get sent to jail. In real life, rape trials go on for years and years and years and even after that there is no guarantee that the vitim will get justice. Rich men can use their power, status and money to get out of anything.

This is what bothers me - Ekta's portrayal of rape and rape victims is not real! Why not show a poor girl fighting for herself, without any support? Because it doesn't exactly rake in the moolah. Prerna's "Mother India" dialogues during the rape track in KZK were hardhitting and extremely enjoyable to watch. That doesn't mean that we enjoyed the rape track, or the rape itself. But if Prerna wasn't there, people would not respond to that track, and that is the sad truth. What about that show Kavita, in which the rape issue was handled more delicately? It was appreciated because of its empowering message, but it didn't tickle the TRPs.
