I t's that time of the year when everyone's extremely cautious. A little miss and you will find a bunch of people yelling, 'April fool' at you. Our television brigade too hasn't been spared. While some of them have been victims, there are others who have proved to be major pranksters. Tales of disguise Gautam Rode, of Baa, Bahu Aur Baby (Star Plus), says, "While I was doing Lucky (Star Plus), the last day of shoot was on April 1. A lot of work was pending, everyone was running hel- ter skelter. I asked my make-up man to help me get into a disguise. "He made me look like a 60-year-old. I went on the set like an elderly man. I sat quietly in a corner. No one realised it was me and kept getting paranoid that I hadn't reached the set. Later when I revealed my identity, everyone laughed aloud and returned to work." No shoot Unlike Rode, Rupali Ganguly became a victim on D-day. While she was shoot- ing for her serial Sukanya, she was asked to report at 7 am by her produc- tion manager. She recollects, "I was asked to reach Madh Island. I drove down from Worli only to discover that there was neither any shoot nor any location of that name at Madh. I was fuming but I couldn't help it. Since that day, I'm extremely cautious on April 1." Indecent proposal Amit Verma, a prankster among his friends, was in for a major surprise two years ago. Though he's a perennial prankster, his friends outdid him. He sheepishly admits that once in a while, he does end up becoming the laughing stock. His gang once got together with one of his close friends, Shalini Khanna, and planned an evening he'd never forget. He recol- lects, "Shalini asked me out for din- ner that night and proposed to me. She is a good friend, so I was quite surprised. I told her that things would be fine and let's just talk it out. "A fantastic actress that she is, she kept faking the tears. She got very emotional and I didn't know how to react. After a point, I couldn't handle the situation and decided to leave the place. "That's when the entire gang sprung out and I realised that they had made a fool out of me." Verma claims that he already has some plans up his sleeve for today.
