My Character & I : Ali Asgar

Though Ali Asgar (Kamal of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii) has become a father for the second time, he is not on a paternity leave. His wife delivered a baby girl on September 21. Here, he talks about playing Kamal…

Ali Asgar
Kamal is that ideal, do-gooder brother-in-law all the time…
Kamal has a special bond with his bhabhi, Parvati (Sakshi Tanwar). The beauty of the character is that Kamal goes out of his way to make her comfortable.

She is not related to us by blood, but she enters the Agarwal parivar as my brother Om's (Kiran Karmarkar) wife. I take it as my responsibility to make sure that she does not feel like an outsider.

Parvati seeks your support at every step
Kamal is always there for Parvati. At the moment, Parvati is married to Suyaash Mehra (Anoop Soni) who is Om's killer. Very few people know about it, Kamal being one of them.

But you are labelled as Paravati bhabhi's chamcha?
Yes, that is what Kamal's own sister Chhaya (Rinku Karmarkar) calls him. But at the same time, Kamal cares for everyone in the house.

Are you like Kamal, always around for your family?
Yes, I am very attached to my family. I love my family and not only my immediate family but also my cousins. The only disparity between Kamal and Ali is that Kamal is extremely patient, while Ali does not have such high levels of patience!

You began with comedy. Playing the serious Kamal has been a big turnaround...
Yes, that was a risk Balaji took. Ekta Kapoor never visualised me as only doing comedy. And that was a big change for my career.
