Sakshi Tanwar makes her foray into the world of movie |
Call of the big screen Sakshi Tanwar
For someone who has been getting so much exposure week after unfailing week, thanks to 'Saas bahu' serials, Sakshi Tanwar is candid in admitting that "the impact which a movie has is higher". Besides, says Sakshi, who is being featured in the role of a heroine in Gurbir S. Grewal's forthcoming film Coffee House, "movies have a definitive start and end to the storyline unlike the TV serials where the storyline may change track every three weeks depending on the audience response". She had earlier done a cameo role in C Company
How smooth has been the transition from a TV 'Bhabhi' of a rich household to a fiery, righteous heroine in Coffee House?
"Well, I was a heroine there too," she says laughing, adding, "And here too I play the hero's wife".
Academics"I studied software extensively, did a diploma and aspired for Civil Services. Yes, I was into amateur dramatics and was the president and secretary my college's Dramatics Society", adds this Lady Shriram College alumnus. Dressed in a simple off-white, loose fitting salwar suit with minimal make-up she looked more like a casual Sunday matinee moviegoer than someone who was acting in one.
"One of my friends was anchoring a show for CPC Doordarshan. The co-anchor was absent. I was auditioned", and that is how the opportunity on TV came about. "They needed someone presentable with a good command over language". This serial 'Albela Surmela' launched Sakshi Tanwar's career.
A couple of bits and pieces roles later came like Ehsaas by Shankar Suhail. "Then my first mainstream serial happened with Gurbir, in 'Dastoor'," she recollects.
"When I started acting, it was a quick source of pocket money for me." The bigger dough, bigger banners, national level recognition and the Star Parivar Awards came later. "Once during an inter-collegiate Street Play contest we hurriedly crammed our lines, rehearsed in the bus en route and expectedly forgot our lines on stage. It was a laugh riot but we won the third prize."
Her plans? "Fortunately lots of experimental stuff is happening in movies today. And small films have their niche audiences too. As an actor I promise to put up a competent performance....And I'll find my niche," she says with confidence.
