Contrary to speculations, Sakshi says that both of them struck a chord from the word go on a reality show where both were anchors. "Till then I knew Smriti professionally but that reality show gave me the opportunity to know her personally. I greatly admire her for multitasking so wonderfully. In fact, during the show I once told her that we are like long lost sisters who got separated in a mela," she says with a smile
But despite such self-professed similarity, Sakshi is prompt to say no to politics on being quizzed about plans of joining a political party like Smriti. "It's not my cup of tea," says she.
With a regressive tag being attached to women characters on TV, does she identify with the characters portrayed on the small screen? "TV is a woman's medium. Initially, I had great arguments about my character of Parvati but moving out from the metros, I found that women in smaller cities actually identified with my character and I became more convinced about it. Besides, I have no hesitation in accepting that the character of Parvati is quite similar to my own personality," she says.
But hasn't the popularity of the family saga waned over the years? "I don't agree. Though yes, the choices for the audiences have increased manifold from the time the serial was launched," says Sakshi.
