This is better than Rohit's monologue - My interpretation

Most of us thought that Rohit will have a monologue where we'll see him sorting out his feelings. The second most probable scenario for me was that he'll talk to Veena. But, I don't think we've seen anybody else's monologue on the show other than Sonakshi - that too when she talks directly to the audience. Whenever the makers had to explore Rohit's feelings, they usually use coversations with Veena/Ajit or even Ravi/Tulsi sometimes. We even got to witness Rohit's antaraatma once🤣, but didn't really get a monologue, at least I don't remember one at the moment. 😆

A lot happened to Rohit within the last 12-13 hours. He was finally moving on and leaving the chaar saal pehle ka chabbis sitambar behind. But that came barging in through his door, when he least expected it. Everything's a chaos for him right now, his feelings and reactions are only adding to all that chaos.

Even in real life, when most people feel lost or are frustrated with what's happening to them, they go and talk to the one person they hope will understand them. Now this person might not have the answer to all the problems, but it just helps to tell all of it to someone else, rather than keeping it all bottled up inside.

So, the moment Rohit thinks he can't take it anymore, he goes running to Sona. Sona for him has become the one person he can go talk to, about anything. I don't think he went there to tell her that he should be with Raima. Neither did he go there to tell her that he loves Sona and not Raima. He definitely didn't plan ahead and thought that he's going to make Sona to tell him to not go back to Raima. All he wanted at that point was to tell someone exactly what is going on inside him, to let out all the bottled up emotional mess of the last few hours. He chose Sona for that because he knows that she is the one person, probably besides his mother, whom he can trust with his most personal thoughts and vulnerabilities.

Whatever he's saying or doing at that point are the most raw versions of his thoughts and feelings.

He holds Sona close and then steps back because that's what his mind tells him to do at the moment.

He says he remembers everything about Raima, he has loved her, she lost four years because of him toh ab mujhe uske saath rehna hoga - that's exactly what his mind is telling him and he's letting it all out.

Sonakshi says I'll be your friend and he can't take it - Again this is exactly how he feels, he's not holding anything back. I think when he asks he ki main Raima ke paas waapas chala jaun, he's honestly looking for an answer from her. He wasn't goading her into a confession, at least I don't think so.

He is visibly relaxed when Sona asks him to not go, because that's what he wants too.

I don't know how good of a job I'm doing here in articulating my thoughts, but the point is that all of Rohit's actions and reactions in that small scene of 5 minutes are his unbidden emotions and thoughts. It's as if the guy is not even letting it pass through his conscious mind before letting it out.

This scene, and the rest of the whole version which we'll hopefully get on Monday, is not something which Rohit had to rehearse or practice before talking to Sonakshi. It's all coming out very organically, and that's why I think it's better than a monologue, because he's decided to confide in Sona with all of his confusions and conflicted emotions, without any inhibitions whatsoever.

Amazing post.. Even I felt he wasn't looking for a confession.. I feel he was in a condition that he desperately wanted to tell everything what was going on in his mind because it was too much bottled up inside him and that was the reason he simply barged her in between her shooting.. He couldn't wait and hence simply dragged her from there.. He poured out whatever was going on in his mind.. The moment she told that they should be 'dost', it acted like a trigger and precisely at that moment he felt that he is losing something.. That hug was the best part because it was like they both were assuring themselves that they had each other..

Lovely analysis.. You know what you say makes sense of Rohit character.. He never plans when it comes to his emotions. He is always comfortable with sharing his feelings with Sona. So it makes sense why he went to her set...

This is all so beautifully put. I don't know if the makers think this deeply before writing these scenes or not, but we definitely do. Even I felt the same. What better to have the same girl as your go to person and the love of your life. It's amazing how in so less time these two have become so comfortable with sharing each and everything with each other with so much trust.

The fundamental problem with this is that it feels like the definition of using someone. He rebuffed her the previous night, told his parents a lie that made them think the worst of her, had fake romantic moments with Raima, ignored Sona in the hospital parking lot. And now suddenly when he needs someone to talk to she has to be available for him immediately? There was no concern for what she was going through since he dropped the engagement ring. Rohit put her through similar feelings as Karan did with his rebuff at his house. She had nightmares because of him. Raima accused her of being responsible for her coma. Her entire past with Karan cheating on her was brought up in front of everyone which frankly would be a very humiliating experience. Then the Sippy's all but threw them out of the house.

Rohit reaching out to Sona because she is the only one he needs isn't a good thing in this context. It is neither romantic nor heart warming. It comes across as a very one sided relationship with very little concern for the woman's emotional state. Worse was him not acknowledging his side and expecting Sona to beg him to stay.

@bold - True for every form of art I guess. I always used to wonder during school literature classes ki writer ne itna deep socha hoga kya, when teachers asked us to analyse a character or situation. Same goes for paintings, at least for me. Painter painting banane se pehle ya banate hue ine saare interpretation sochta h kya jo art critics sochte hain?😆

Here's what I made of this whole situation:

Rohit dropped the engagement ring and rushed to meet Raima - Disheartening for Sonakshi? Absolutely. But was Rohit at fault? I would say it was a very natural reaction. The initial shock and the following happiness and rushing to meet the person who Rohit thought wouldn't be able to walk ever again is an understandable reaction.

Raima accused Sonakshi of being responsible for her coma - not Rohit's fault. He didn't even think, even for a second, that Sonakshi is at fault, irrespective of what Raima is saying. Believe me, the only reason I'm even trying to find reason in this whole situtaion is that no matter what Raima or anybody else said, Rohit didn't start blaming Sonakshi at the drop of a hat and didn't even question her about the incident because he implicitly trusts her. This is the only thing I'm happy about in this whole fiasco, that the CVs didn't show us that Rohit distrusts Sonakshi.

Sonakshi's entire past came out in front of everybody through Raima - Not Rohit's fault. I think his reaction to all this might come up in the coming episodes.

Rohit asked Sona to leave - I can sort of understand, but he didn't have to be rude and shout. Could've definitely been handled better.

Sippys, mostly Naren, insulted Rastogis and asked them to leave - Naren clearly doesn't like Sonakshi because of his own issues and he was vocal about it to Veena even before Raima came. With Raima's blame game, he just got some extra points to add to his list of stupid issues with Sonakshi. Not Rohit's fault, not until that moment at least.

Rohit told his family about the fake bf-gf drama and didn't speak up even a single word when Naren was trash talking about Sonakshi - Trust me, I've not even tried to think of any sort of justification on Rohit's part here. That was completely and utterly wrong on his part, specially the fact that he let Naren say all that nonsense.

Him ignoring Sona in hospital parking lot - I guess the makers were trying to justify Rohit's behaviour when Rohit said to Ravi ki duty par ho, ye koi romance karne ka time nhi h. They are trying to depict that whatever Rohit is doing is his duty towards his patient Raima. Do I personally like it that he completely ignored Sonakshi in all this because he's a doctor? Not really. Will I let the makers get away with this justification? Maybe.

Rohit fake romancing Raima - Everybody could see that Rohit was uncomfortable in the hospital. But his hesitant 'me too' in the morning to Raima's I love you was indication enough for me that he doesn't love Raima anymore. Nobody would just blurt out that I moved on with somebody else in front of the girl who's just woken up from a four year long coma.

I got a bit carried away typing all this 😆, but I hope you can see that I'm not disagreeing with all your points, just like I'm not agreeing to all your points.

Coming to the context of the original post, we all saw that Sonakshi was hurt in all of this. And we saw her breakdown in front of her mother. We were clearly able to see what she was going through, got to see her worst fears and then saw her trying to make sense of the situation in whatever way she can and going about her daily life.

But what I think is missing in all of this is we never got to see what was going through Rohit's mind all this time. The guy didn't get a break in all of this. He was hopping from home to hospital to home all night, trying to take care of his patients. The minute he got some time, he wanted to talk about all his conflicted emotions to somebody, and at that moment the only person he could think of going to was Sonakshi.

That's all my original post was all about. I was not trying to portray it as anything romantic. It's just about opening up to someone you trust. I was just trying to say that this is the way Rohit is trying to figure his emotions out, and we're not getting a monologue and that's better because he's trying to make sense of it all with Sona's help. Sona had her mother to help her with her state, Rohit chose Sona to help him. But that doesn't mean he is using Sonakshi. This is an unfortunate situation for both of them, and they are trying to tread it in the way they think they can. You may disagree with me, but the fact that Rohit trusts Sonakshi even after listening to Raima's convoluted story is enough for me as a viewer at this point. And he didn't take three weeks before going to talk to Sonakshi is another plus for me. Rohit was knocked down from the previous pedestal he was at, but for me he's still better than 99.99% of other MLs I've seen on ITV.

This show is not about Rohit vs Sona to me. I started watching it because it clearly offered something unique and I'm trying to just get through this track in hopes of a better show in the future, like everybody else, I guess. 😊
