Just a few thoughts on the current track...

Before watching the latest episode, I was angry with Rohit. I understand where he comes from and I feel for him, but that doesn’t make him right. After reading the synopsis on Hotstar, I was angry with Sonakshi. So basically I started watching the episode quite angry. But once I finished, I was no longer as angry at either of them. This won’t be the easiest track to watch but the writers certainly threw in a few surprises. Also, both leads performed extremely well. Karan was so good in the scene outside the church! He brings a strange childlike innocence and vulnerability in his performance which is amazing! Dipika is also a natural! Your heart goes out to Sona after the phone call. So without further ado, here are a few points I noticed:

  1. I thought Rohit being angry, was going to call Sona and yell at her but that wasn’t the case. Him dialing her number by mistake was quite a big moment! He forgot the number he had been dialing for 4 years everyday. Another example of him moving on! The shock and need to get control over the situation was so well done! Example of great writing and acting! Also, when they started taking, Rohit was trying to end the call quickly because he realized he was going to lash out at her and she didn’t deserve it. But Sona unintentionally pushed him by mentioning what Ajit did- good friends, fake girlfriend, etc... Now undoubtedly Rohit was wrong in lashing out but the build up was natural. He didn’t just pick up the phone and yell at her. No matter how angry I felt, I had to appreciate the writing there.
  2. Rohit’s apology was also a surprise but I expect more of an apology from him! But it’s nice to see a male lead who actually acknowledges that he is wrong and doesn’t need a separate track explaining why he can’t say sorry or thank you. But Rohit still has a long way to go in terms of making it up to Sona.
  3. Also, I thought I was the only one who noticed this but it looks like others have as well so I’ll mention it here. When Sona was requesting the father, you can clearly see guilt and shame in Rohit’s eyes. He knows that it’s not her job or duty to do this yet she is going out of her way to help him. He truly respects her! Now it’s a matter of how he chooses to show her that he respects her and how he makes up for his mistakes! I cannot emphasize enough how amazing both Karan and Dipika are are changing expressions within seconds! It’s absolutely brilliant!
  4. Now coming to Sonakshi and my anger towards her. I didn’t want Sona to run around helping Rohit again when he lashed out and said so many wrong things to her. However, after the episode I realized that unlike certain others ITV couples, Sona and Rohit are not in a love-hate relationship. They are very close friends at this point. Granted, they are not childhood friends but these past few days they have really stood by each other. It’s not always about love and romance between them. Rohit has hurt her in the past but compared to other shows, their relationship has been a lot less turbulent (no tossing from the window, no taunting at every occasion nor leaving marks on her arms). I think her helping him out just this once was needed for her to establish that they are friends and nothing more. After this, I expect her to walk away and keep a distance. She needs to outline what friendship means for her and she needs to draw the line on her end. At the end of the day, every man and woman for themselves.
  5. Now the idea of Sona being mahaan like Parvati, I am walking the middle ground on this. I don’t feel like she is entirely like Parvati. Sona is very strong but somewhere her relationship with her mother and her childhood struggle left a deep impact, making her a person with a very giving nature. She needs to know relationships are two way streets and not just about giving. Coming to Parvati, something Rajkummar Rao once said is very relevant. He said when doing Omerta, he saw a very disturbing news and reacted in a way that was unlike him. Characters do leave an impact on actors, especially one you play for years! It also explains why certain ITV male leads look so battered towards the end of a show (oily hair, breakouts, no haircut, grief beards and bags under the eyes). They feel the impact and torture (by writers) of their characters on screen. So yes, Parvati does leave an impact on Sona but Sona has a personality of her own as well. The upcoming track will show us which side holds more weight.
  6. I was initially quite amazed at the picture of Raima and Rohit in the church! It was beautiful. But to be honest, the chemistry did not translate on screen at all. I felt for Rohit during the sequence but I hardly felt Raima. I think it shows how little impact they have together on the show. Raima is only here for Rohit to move on and let go of his guilt. As long as the actress isn’t changed midway, Raima will remain a catalyst for Ronakshi. and not become a supporting character.
  7. Precap- I don’t think Sona was being Mahaan by telling the Father to have the prayer for Raima. It was her taking the first step in drawing the line. Rohit came here for Raima so why should Sona receive the prayer. If she needs to pray or needs blessings, she can come on her own. Given the situation, it seemed like a very couple thing (getting the blessing together) and Sona saying no made me very happy! Sometimes heroines act so confused in such situations but not Sona. Even on Teejri, she was angry and didn’t want to do the puja. This was her taking a stand and acknowledging that she has no place in the Rohit-Raima situation and won’t stick around to watch. I just hope it stays like this!

I will add more points if it comes to me haha I literally typed this on my commute to work so no emoticons. I really hope the writers do justice to the upcoming track. It’s no surprise that this was going to come but still, it would be so sad to see such an amazing show go down the usual path. They can really do something amazing if they want to. I want a strong and dignified Sona and a Rohit who explores his feelings and tries to gain clarity. They have amazing actors who create magic on screen! But if Sona becomes a crying mess who runs after Rohit who treats her like crap, there is nothing left to say or watch. I will keep an open mind as long as the story gives me hope. Fingers crossed for a natural yet angst-filled track that doesn’t drag for months! Please let me know what you guys think!!

Nice analysis...even I liked when Sona refused to take Father's blessing....makes me hope that in the near future she won't be the abla naari but a strong person atleast in front of Rohit once Raima enters

Beautiful analysis. Thank you for the unbiased write up. Enjoyed reading it.

Didn't want to watch the episode after reading the reviews. But I am very glad I did. This week's episodes are progressing very beautifully in terms of ronakshi story.

Only thing that's upsetting though is the unwanted importance given to the love story of rora(whatever the name) with the song sequence which was such a letdown. So happy there is no chemistry and if it's the makers doing, then even more hopeful that they will do justice to this track without running Rohits character which I think one of the best and progressive male lead that has been shown on ITV.

Today's writing was fantastic. Glad Rohit did not call to blame Sona infact he wanted to cut the call. Also liked the way he said sorry to both her and the guard. Like you said there is never a need for elobrate situations to say sorry/thank you. Glad the makers choose it this way. Karan's acting really lifts up the scene and makes us like Rohit with his flaws and get angry/disappointed when he is wrong. Kudos to the actor.

Dipika was exceptional today. Lovely characterization of Sona and she owns her completely. I felt her sadness today. I think she will always be a good friend to Rohit regardless of whatever he may do and will stop being that only when Raima enters as she said she won't be friends with her. So don't need to worry about her being Parvati mahan and do sacrifices. Sona is strong and knows her limits.

In today episode 2 scenes that was interesting, during sonas monologue she couldn't say Rohits gf.. She said Raima not his gf.. another one is when she comes in search of him she talks to him as she always did including touching his shoulder to keep him calm. Thought it was a nice touch. B

Both these characters are very unique and very beautiful. Hope they don't destroy then in search of trp.

Most importantly, thank you for coming up wid such a deep breadth of view about d recent more flesh nd blood can stand(I knew, it's only 2 episodes but this wasn't expected dis earlier in d show either) behavioural changes of the much loved leads; chiefly on Rohit's flip flop nature, for he is no less than a teenage boy crossing his awkward age 😳..

Am dubious to watch d episodes until now....

My POV is as follows,

Rohit is under self-conviction(thanks to his frnds nd Raima's mom for making him of that nature) that he's responsible for Raima's current state to the exclusion of everything else including d accident pushed her down to d surgical intervention in the first place... 😳

Last 2 episodes let it be known to me that, Rohit wasn't at all in love wid Raima anymore... If a person ever truly in love with anyone, it'll be unambiguous in evry sitch of their lyf whether his darling encompasses in his lyf anymore or not... But Rohit's case is different as we all witnessed how merrily he was happening around Sona...It would have made it easy for him to move on wid his new love but but here he's full of guilt ridden and on d verge of retributing his own self by depriving him of marital bliss or d mere idea of being in love again...which is really a hardship for him to quash out of it...

Like you have mentioned, he wasn't spontaneous on hitting out Sona ovr the phone.....He's taming his outburst in his own way yet failing to get d grip on it...

About Sona, as much as I want her to steer clear of Rohit by all possible ways, but again, dis will end up furtively that, Rohit wil b guilt ridden for his entire lif than getting over wid the guilt... For dis Raima's return is inevitable and which is what happening in the show right now.... Nd also dis stroke of reality is needed for Sona to hold in chk regarding her feelings for Rohit for time being...

M again wishing dis track should be handled properly widout farcing d MLs character to an extent that I end up moving on from the show...🤔 *Fingers crossed*

Really loved all the points you made.

Yes, Rohit acted impulsively this time. As you so nicely pointed out, he tried not to lash out at Sona initially, but then couldn't rein in his emotions anymore and just vented it all out on Sonakshi. He did realize his mistake to some extent and said sorry to her.

Whether a simple sorry is enough or not is an entirely different issue, but at least he realizes what he did, taking out his anger on Sona, and even on the watchman, was wrong.

All I want from his character going forward is that he learns from this experience. If he has realized that he's taking his guilt and frustration out on others, he should make a conscious effort to try and control that impulse. That is what I would call real character progression.

After watching and analyzing this episode to death, I'm now just going to let the story play out and look towards where the story is heading with each episode. Maybe after 10 episodes, we'll look back at this track and appreciate the way it all unfolded. I can be hopeful! 😊

Very well captured, i too noticed #1 and yes it is a very big thing. Also he is really taken aback when he realises that he called Sonakshi. KGV Deserves accolades for capturing such minute details so well.

And yes #4, I think I did mention this today elsewhere on the forum, their chemistry did not translate on screen.

In a way glad that it did not translate, so it becomes even easier to root for Ronakshi 😜
