I saw today's episode and just could not stop myself from coming here to share a few thoughts. I don't believe I have seen a show on Indian Television where characters have depth. They are not white and black. They are Grey. Problems in life do not arise because there is someone out there hell-bent on being evil and destroying our lives as Saas Bahu sagas usually portray. Problems usually arise because we are imperfect and unwilling to see those imperfections. It is because we do not compromise. I like the depth the secondary characters have started to portray. Nishi, Suman, and the insecure wife (I do not remember her name). These are real characters.

Nishi is uncompromising, she is hotheaded and will not admit to her mistakes. She makes mistakes, regrets them (somewhat with her headache and all) and then feels that it is Ok to make mistakes. But she is not willing to forgive others who made mistakes.

Suman on the other hand. Yes, she is money grabbing. But when you think about the fact that she had to raise 3 children and make them successful, it points to the reasoning that "when I am doing things for my kids nothing is wrong".

Are these character good? Not really. Bad? Not really. Their stand against the other is circumstantial.

Also, on a "main" note. I love the lead characters. There are many layers to both of them. I love that Rohit is not the typical alpha I am never wrong hero who will only hurt the heroine. He grovels the moment someone in his family makes a mistake. He wants to right the wrongs that have happened and that is the best part about him. Sonakshi is also more real than her onscreen version. The onscreen version has been seen so many times. They have made her a very positive character but they also show weaknesses in her.

All in all, I do hope that the show continues this way. I have not been on any forum since a very long time. There was nothing that grabbed my attention. And in an era when even if you miss months of a particular serial, the plot would not progress an inch, a show like "Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum" is a breath of fresh air!

Excellent post! I completely agree.. I love watching characters with genuine perspectives instead of outright villains who have no goal other than finding joy in the torment of others. I really enjoyed both Nishi and Suman's scenes because it helps understand their characters and why they act the way they do rather purely existing as obstacles for the main leads.

Rohit is a lovely male character. He has his share of flaws for sure but at the same time he is introspective and corrects his mistakes when appropriate. Initially I wasn't so keen on Sonakshi's character.. but I think they are making the characterization work. She has never really been given the chance to develop an identity beyond the self sacrificing heroine she presents on television.
