So that's the mystery behind the subject of our story, the call!

Oh, I can totally imagine it: Anubhav working even on his birthday.

Gungun organised a birthday party for him, taking care of what he'd like and what he would not. Tell this to the Gungun of the present and she'll send you to a mental asylum🤣

But how sweet it is❤️

And the warm, fuzzy kind of feeling makes a comeback. Anu... keep thinking about it for a week😆

This lip brushing fingers reminds me of one OS I wrote long ago for some different ship. Oh, the nostalgia. Anyway, love this! Glad it's not over yet

The wait was worth it! What a surprise it was for Anu! 😍 And Gungun baking a cake for him was a surprise for both him n us! 😆 And GC gang teasing them n them being shy shy was my favorite part, especially the cake feeding part. 😍🙈 Can't wait for the next part n thanks for tagging. ❤ From next week till the end of the month, I'll be busy with my exams, so I might be not be able to come n read, but once I come back I'll definitely read it. 😊

Part 2

“Gungun! Gungun!” Chavvi came running into the decorated dining room, wringing her hands “ Bhaiya is at the gate! He is coming in.”

There was a sudden flurry of movement in the room, the Kulshresht’s and her own father and bua immediately scrambled to clear the place. Gungun caught hold of Chavvi and sunk behind the large couch, “Okay everyone, hide, quick! Lights off. Shhhhhh…”

The room plunged in darkness and after a few seconds of chair scrapings and hushed whispers, it fell silent.

Gungun nervously fidgeted with the ends of Chhavi’s dupatta. When she had first thought of doing something for Chant chashmish’s birthday, nearly a week ago, she was surprised to learn that he never really celebrated his birthday.

“Anu toh hamesha busy reheta hai, isi liye bas ghar pe ek choti si cake cutting, aur uske liye uski favourite dishes bana leti hoon. ” musical name waali aunty… oops … ma had told her.

Anubhav worked on his birthday!? The man in true senses was a khadus. A consummate workaholic. If she would have told him that she knew about his birthday, and wanted him to celebrate he would have first interrogated her and then taunted her. So why go down that path?

Instead Gungun chose a better alternative. She along with the Kulshresht’s made an elaborate plan to surprise Anubhav. Yup a surprise birthday party. The logistical intricacies of this plan were however much more complicated then she had first imagined them to be.

Anubhav would leave for the institute every day at the same time. But he would return at various times depending on the workload at the institute. It was too risky to hold the surprise party at the Kulshresht’s home.

As much as she knew Anubhav, he hated going out. She would have booked a banquet hall, but Anubhav would have eaten her alive after the surprise for the money spent. So she settled with her house. Her father was only a little too enthusiastic about the idea. But her bua, oh her bua acted as if it was not Anubhav’s but her own birthday.

*Tap* *Tap*

The sound of footsteps brought Gungun back to the present. The bated silence in the room almost intensified the echoes of the incoming footsteps.

“Hello? Kaha hai sab?” His voice echoed in the hall.

Gungun pressed deeper into the side of the sofa

"Gungun? Gungun?” He seemed just steps away. “Hello koi hai? Dr Riddesh a--?"

SURPRISE!!! The room rang in unison.

Gungun leapt from behind the sofa just as the lights were flipped on. Poms poms and plastic whistles going off at the same time. Confetti exploded from party cannons as the entire family started singing ‘happy birthday’.

Anubhav stared back shocked, rooted to his place. As he took in his surroundings his eyes floated across each member of his family and finally stopped at Gungun.

His eyes scanned her length. She was smiling. There were no injuries, no tears, no nothing. She was fine. She was okay.

He released a breath he did not realise he had been holding. And all of a sudden he felt extremely tired, the energy visibly drained out of him. Anubhav’s head was spinning when he had sprinted out of his house in search of Gungun. He had driven up to her college, called her useless friends, even rang that idiot boyfriend of hers. Then like a light at the end of the tunnel, Dr Riddesh had called him and told him that Gungun had come to their house and he should come there too.

It was like he could finally think again, but the fear in his heart had barely dissipated. Why was she there? Why hadn’t she called him again? Dr Riddesh sounded stressed… had something happened to Gungun?

The questions were still endless so he rushed as fast as he could.

‘What’s going on?" He murmured, now scanning his surroundings again. Large party balloons hung everywhere in the hall, matching streamers and party hats with attached disco lights were strewn about.

“What do you mean ‘what’s going on'? Don’t you recognize a birthday party?” Gungun said as she took a step towards him.

She grabbed his hand and pulled him closer to a huge three-tiered birthday cake she (with the help of Neeti bhabhi and Ma) had baked for him that morning.

“Come on, cake cutting time” she said urging Anubhav forward

Anubhav was still too dazed to resist the constant urging of Gungun and his family.

He only nodded, making the first cut in the cake amidst the fanfare. He picked up the first piece to feed bade papa, a custom in the house to start with the oldest when he was stopped short by the latter.

“Arey arey yeh kya kar rahe ho. Anu ab tumhaari patni aa gai hai, uska pehele haq banta hai tumhaare cake par. Aur waise bhi Gungun ne hi toh yeh sab organise kia hai tumhaare liye, yaha tak ki cake bhi ussi ne banaya hai!” Bade Papa rattled on but Anubhav had stopped listening.

His eyes floated to the woman who was now staring at the floor with new found interest. Gungun had done all of this? Gungun had arranged this party for him? Why?

Gungun who was trying to hide behind Chavvi was now shoved forward by Khushi. She stumbled towards Anubhav, still looking everywhere but at him.

“Arey Anu jaldi khilao usse, taaki humara bhi number aaye” Golu chachu urged his eyes dreamy with the thought of cake.

“Lekin Chachu sabke saamne” Anubhav said uncomfortable at the idea of feeding Gungun cake in the presence of the elders.

“Haan waise bhi kounsi badi baat hai, pehele soup pilaaya tha ab cake khila do” Yug said clearly in the mood for more teasing.

The tip of Anubhav’s ears turned pink as he remembered getting caught red handed, while heat crawled up Gungun’s face. Let’s say she had grown more aware about the constant comments being passed by Golu Chachu and his gang.

Not wanting the teasing to continue much further Anubhav quickly moved his hand towards Gungun and she leaned in for a bite of the cake. In the very hurry to get this rather intimate moment out of the way, Gungun’s lips brushed against the tip of his fingers, the contact was brief, yet long enough for his breath to hitch in his throat, for a flood of sensations to burst open and long enough to have him think about this for the rest of the week.

Okay... firstly I am very sorry to keep you guys waiting. Work has been absolutely crazy... I haven't been able to watch episodes and some of you might have noticed I haven't been very active for the past couple of days as well :(

Secondly thank you for being so patient with me and it really warms my heart to see requests for updates, it is so motivating to see you guys looking forward to my work!!! It is very sweet and exactly what makes me want to write more :)

Thirdly this update is def not one of my best works, I crammed it into my 30 minute break. I would have liked to re-read and edit it before posting but I did not want to withhold the update any longer. So I am sorry if there are errors in the update!

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this (long time due) update, please do comment and let me know your thoughts!
