Kali woke up and looked at the surrounding in confusion. She saw Yug sleeping on the bed and realized the harsh reality. When her Badke Papa had told her his decision, she had just nodded in a yes, since she had somehow predicted that this was going to come her way, but what made her sad was the fact that she was married! She didn't want her husband to think of her as a burden on him, no wife would want so. She cried the nights, thinking how she would face Yug. Her fears, her anxieties couldn't be expressed by words, and she didn't expect Yug to know them before she voiced them out. She knew that their relation was empty and no attempts from her side would bring any improvements.

Sighing, she opened her bag, removed her clothes from it and went to the washroom to freshen up.

Yug woke up after some time and immediately looked at the couch, a part of him thinking that whatever happened yesterday was a nightmare, but seeing the suitcase confirmed that now he shared a room with a girl...a girl whom he didn't even know...a girl who was supposed to be his wife.

He heard the door of the washroom open, so faked being asleep. Kali, dressed in blue saree stood in front the mirror, looking at her reflection. She filled her hair parting with sindoor and wore the mangalsutra, but had no happiness on her face. The happiness every newlywed girl has.

"Maybe she is also not happy," He thought. He remembered their conversation on the engagement night as she left the room.

Yug looked at the sky that was looking beautiful due to those tiny stars. He believed that his mom had become a star after her death, so kept looking at the Pole Star, when he heard his name being called out in a soft voice, which was barely audible. He looked at his right, to his fianc. She was playing with the end of her dupatta, eyes downcast, confusion and hesitation clear on her face.

" Mujhe tumse koi baat nahi karni..."

Kali looked at him, her eyes filled with sadness. Yug softened immediately.

Kali, "Hum, yeh shaadi..."

Yug, "Just go from here Kaali... Please..."

She sighed and walked away. After that, she didn't even bother talking to him, knowing that only hatred and rude behavior would come her way.

He sighed and sat on the bed, not knowing what to do next. Finally, he made up his mind to talk to her and went to the washroom to freshen up.

"Aa gayi humari Bahu Rani..." Daadi said and smiled at Kali. Kali felt happy to see someone be happy in her presence and was about to bend down to touch her feet when Daadi walked pass her. Kali was disheartened and turned to look at Daadi, who was talking about Gauri. Gauri looked at Daadi in confusion.

"Daadi, hum jaante hai ki log hume dekh kar khush ho jaate hai, but you need not exaggerate, you see..."

Daadi was surprised to get such a reply. Kali signed Gauri to shut up through her eyes. She realized her mistake and bend down to take her blessing. Yash came.

Yash, "Daadi, aur koi rasam baaki hai?"

Daadi nodded in a no.

Gauri, "Daadi, humare papa ne hume Delhi ka honeymoon package gift kiya hai... Toh kya hum jaa sakte hai?"

Daadi, "Arrey kyun nahi... Tum logo ka yeh honey...honey... jo bhi hai... Ghumne-phirne ke hi toh din hai... jaao..."

Gauri smiled happily.

Daadi, "Yug aur Kaali bhi tum dono ke saath jaayenge..."

Yug came there.

"Kahaan jaane ki baat ho rahi hai?"

Daadi told him, expecting a yes from him, but this was the end of Yug's patience.

"I am sorry Daadi...par main kahin nahi jaa raha! Samjahta hoon ki Gauri-Yash want to go for a honeymoon, par unke saath hum kyun jaaye... main kyun jaau... Yeh toh had hi ho gayi...kya samjahte ho tum log mujhe? Koi toy nahi hoon...I am a human damn it! I have emotions... I can't go around taking orders like a robot, or like some people..."

He looked at Kali and walked off angrily. This was it! Kali had had enough. She went outside the house, ignoring the fact that it was raining. She sat on the bench in the garden and looked at the raindrops. The rain drops got mixed with the land, spreading a weird melancholy around. Tears gathered in her eyes, as she remembered Yug's behavior.

Yug went to the gallery of his room in frustration. He looked outside, to see that Kali was in the garden and it was raining.

"Isse baarish se itna kyun pyaar hai yaar..."

He said and picked an umbrella. He walked out of the house and held the umbrella for Kali. Not feeling the rain drops and seeing a shadow of an umbrella, she looked up at Yug. She was about to walk away, but Yug held her hand.

"Yug, haath chodiye humara..."

She turned to face him.

"You don't care right?All you think of is yourself. Hum aapse yeh expect nahi kar rahe the Yug. Jaante hai ki situation ko accept karna aapke liye kitna difficult hai, par that gives you no right to call someone emotionless. My life is empty, I agree, I am someone's shadow, I agree. But no one is helping me Yug, I am alone. Aise men agar life aur complicate ho rahi hai, toh main kya karu? You have no idea, how it feels to wear this mangalsutra, it's a freaking burden for me. I don't want to be a burden on you, but aap har minute, har second mujhe sirf ek baat realize kara dete hai that I am a freaking loser. Aap bhi baaki sab jaise ho, Selfish..."

She walked in the house, and Yug kept staring at her retreating figure. What an idiot he was! He had been hurting her since day one, and the girl hadn't even voiced it out. He had to make things right.

Part 3

They were at the airport. Gauri had been excited to go for honeymoon, so they had decided to leave on that day itself. The family was bidding Gauri-Yash a goodbye, giving them instructions, but no one said a word to Kali. She touched Yug's father's legs. He patted her cheek and said

"My son isn't what you think...He is just like you... Give him some time..."

"Sorry uncle, lekin ab maine kisi ke baare mein sochne aur kisi se kuch expect karna hi chod diya hai... Life has thought me how to live... take care..." She mumbled and followed Gauri-Yash.

She sat on her seat in the airplane and looked out of the window. She felt someone sit next to her, so turned and saw a guy. He smiled, she ignored. She felt his hand touch her hand, so looked at him, but he behaved obliviously. Thinking that it was his mistake, she chose to ignore, but when she felt him touch her hand again, she looked at him angrily. Before she could speak, her eyes went wide with shock. The guy was confused at her reaction and turned to face Yug!

Yug, "Yeh seat meri hai mister..."

"really, aur yeh kab hua?"

"Abhi-abhi" Yug said nonchalantly and smiled at the air hostess who came there.

Air hostess, "Sorry for the inconvenience Sir, but yeh seat ab inki hai..." she smiled and left.

The guy sighed and collected his bags. Yug held his hand before he left.

"yeh seat bhi meri hai, aur yeh ladki meri beewi hai...Aage se uski taraf dekha bhi, toh you won't be spared... Get lost!"

He said, shocking Kali and scaring the guy. He nodded and left. Yug sat on the seat.

"What was that?" asked a shocked Kali.

"Nothing...just showed a jerk his place..." Yug replied and plugged his earphones to listen to music.

Kali kept looking at him in shock for a few milliseconds and then smiled. Yug looked at her and smiled.

"Thank You for flying with Air India. Have a great day..." the chirpy voice of the air hostess woke up an asleep Kali.

"Good Morning..." She heard Yug's cheerful voice. She looked to her right to see him smiling.

"Good Morning..." She said but couldn't control her yawn.

"Sorry..." She muttered as she uncovered her mouth. She made faces at her stupidity and he chuckled.

She turned to look at Gauri, who was fast asleep. The air hostess woke her up, and soon, the exited the airplane.

After 20 minutes drive, they reached the five-star hotel and retired to their respective rooms.

Kali opened the door of their room and looked at the decorations of the room awkwardly. It was a romantic setup and clearly not appropriate for their situation. She looked at Yug who signed her to relax through his eyes. The housekeeping kept their luggage and left the room. She immediately started cleaning the room.

Yug sighed. He knew that she was feeling damn awkward and also knew that it was his responsibility to help her calm down so held her shoulders. She looked at him. He left her shoulders.

Yug, "It's ok, you don't have to do this, sirf decorations hai..."

Kali, "Mujhe laga, aapko accha nahi lagega?"

He kept quiet. Both looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"We both are on the same boat.," Yug said and she nodded.

An awkward silence engulfed the two again.

"Ummm,Kaali?," he said and she looked at him.

"I was very mean to you, sorry," Kali tried to speak, but he rambled on.

"It's just that, mujhe aisa laga ki tum iss shaadi se khush ho, I don't know how I failed to realize ki tumhe bhi meri tarah force kiya gaya hoga. I am so sorry. Maybe tum sahi keh rahi ho, I was being selfish."

Finally, giving up, she placed her finger on his lips. His eyes widened in shock as he looked at the finger and then at her. Their eyes stopped at the ring on her finger. She removed her finger.

"Yug, it's ok, galti kisiki bhi nahi hai. Jo hua, usse accept karne ke alaawa aur koi option nahi hai. I know it is difficult for both of us, especially you, I am sorry, you had to face this."

"I faced worst Kaali," He said and looked at her. She looked at him in confusion.

"Forget that, now since we have no option, let's do one thing, that can help us both, can we be friends at least?" He said and made a puppy face. Kali giggled and nodded. He smiled and turned to leave.

"Yug?" She called out and he faced her.

"Kya aap mujhe Kali bulaa sakte hai?" He looked at her in confusion for a few seconds and smiled.

"Aapki khwaish sarr aankhon par," He said and winked. She smiled.

The warm water touched his tired muscles relaxing them. He touched the cold tile on the wall, as he thought of Kali.

Why was he so soft with her? He didn't like her, but there was a weird attraction...a weird feeling that he felt when he was around her... yes, he couldn't name that feeling, but the feeling made him feel a little better after 2 years.

But then, if her name was Kali, why did everyone call her Kaali? Why was Gauri so ignorant about her own sister? How could a father discriminate between his daughters?

He sighed as he couldn't think of the answers.

"Why did I do that?" she thought as she looked out of the window.

"The name, Kali...sirf woh mujhe Kali bulaati thi, phir maine Yug ko woh haq kyun diya? Itni private baat unse kyun share ki? Why am I feeling that things will get better? What's just going on?"

She questioned herself but was clueless that destiny was playing a game with her, a game where she was destined to win...or destined to lose...
