HUSH-HUSH PROJECT
Apoorva Agnihotri has just signed his second film after Pardes and surprisingly is very secretive about his new project. Quiz him about his role in Pyar Koi Khel Nahin and you get the standard "wait and watch" answer. It was only after a lot of prodding that Apoorva revealed most reluctantly about his not-much-talked-about role, "This time no rape charges will be levelled against me." Obviously, the good as gold boy in reel life doesn't care to be labelled a molester in reel life.

Apoorva Agnihotri (Armaan Suri of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin) Serial persona: Deceptive, manipulative Off screen persona: Reserved Positive colours on-screen: Grey, red, orange, yellow, black. When he wants to wear ivory/pink he should complement them with sky blue or denim blue. similarly green with purple/lavender. These combinations will make him look adaptive to situations and relationships in the serial. Positive colours on-screen: Violet, yellow, peach, blue, brown. When he wears black or red he must complement them with a pink or lavender. Green is a neutral shade for him.

Jassi's Armaan Sir weds

Apoorva Agnihotri (Jassi's Armaan Sir) wed Shilpa Saklani (Ganga of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Zee's Lavanya) at Dehdradun yesterday.

Unfortunately missing at the ceremony was Jassi and the rest of the cast of this Sony soap.

The Jassi team could not make it to Dehradun (where Agnihotri's folks live) because they were busy shooting due to a lack of banked episodes.

The newly-weds are expected to be back in Mumbai in the next two or three days.

Agnihotri will then be shooting for Jassi before leaving for his honeymoon in Canada by mid-July.

We are sure that Jassi will then make her way to the airport to bid him a tearful adieu. And needless to add Nandu will be dragged along.

So she turned up in her regular avatar at co-star Vinay 'Aryan' Jain's wedding reception in south Mumbai on Wednesday. Jassi was chaperoned by her buddy-cum godmother Rakshanda Khan. And in keeping with the wintry clime, Jassi seemed to be having a cold war (or is it over-familiarity on the sets) with Armaan Sir (Apoorva Agnihotri, that is) who came with his spouse Shilpa Saklani. One for the camera: Apurva Agnihotri and Shilpa Saklani Throughout the reception she kept a safe distance from him, preferring to chat and giggle exclusively with the ravishing Rakshanda 'Mallika' Khan The showbiz-celeb turn-out comprised Boman Irani, Tanaaz Currim, Gautami Gadgil, Parmeet Sethi with biwi Archana Puran Singh, Viveck Vaswani and Tisca Arora. After the Indian Postal Services Department issue of a Special Cover with Special Cancellation on Jassi, Sunil Lulla, of SET informs us that Delhi-based designer Satya Paul is soon launching a 'Jassi' line. Puneet Nanda, Satya Paul's son and the designer of the line says of the collection: "Sony thought of this idea and they were looking for someone who would be able to serve as a sounding board and be able to support the whole thing. They discussed it with us among others and found the Satya Paul Design Studio to be an appropriate fit." Paul describes the line as "daily wear and relaxed evening and semi-formal wear. This is a ready to wear (prt) designer line for everyday use — cotton, linen and blends with conceptual design and simple ornamentation. It is an effort to create a refreshing contemporary design with the parameters of ease of wear and care." The line will be sold out of the chain of Satya Paul stores and Shoppers' Stop stores.

Apoorva Agnihotri, the Ghai protege just can't stop singing paeans to Sunny Deol, who plays his bada bhai in Polygrams's Pyar Koi Khel Nahin,"I was very apprehensive at the outset because I had heard about Sunny being the silent and reserved type. Much to my surprise I discovered that the guy's anything but that. He's a jolly good fella, loving and caring. He looked after me like a younger brother during the Ooty outdoor," he gushes.
Interestingly, Apoorva has signed one more film with brawny Deol. Didn't you know that this is the industry where contacts lead to contracts, folks?

SHORT TAKES EVERYTHING'S FINE More on Ghai. Shah Rukh Khan denies any friction with his Pardes director. So why is he keeping away from all functions organised by him? "Because I've been busy," the Khan argues. He reminds you that he was shooting for Dil Se in Delhi and so couldn't make it to the muhurat of Taal. But Manisha was there? "Yeah, because she wasn't shooting that day," he points out and adds that he was there for the Rotary Club function Ghai organised with his wife. "Everything is just fine," he assures you. JUHI CHAWLA TOWELS NOW Recently, when we were visiting Juhi Chawla we were surprised to find her using initialled towels. Had she started manufacturing special Juhi Chawla towels? "No way!" she giggled. Three months ago she happened to see Kadar Khan using towels printed with his name. When she enquired about them, he told her that he had a friend who indulged this whim and she confessed that she would also get a kick using towels with her name boldly printed on them. After the shoot was over she forgot all about the initialled towels till one day she opened her door and found a man standing there with three packets of Juhi Chawla towels. "Kadar Khan had placed the order. It was a lovely gesture," chirpy Chawla smiles. GRATEFULLY YOURS After Subhash Ghai's showdown with Mahima everyone was expecting fireworks when they learnt that his other protege, Apoorva Agnihotri had also done an ad for Siyaram. But Ghai seems to be pretty cool about Apoorva's new adventure perhaps because this time he was informed about the campaign well in advance and his discovery even promised to contribute 35 per cent of the takings to the welfare fund set up by Ghai. Apoorva's doing more such ads and he's confident that accepting these offers won't get him into trouble with his mentor as long as he's open about them. "You can't betray the man who's made you what you are today. I know I shall always be grateful to Subhashji ," he says fervently.

First wedding anniversary

Yesterday was the first marriage anniversary of Shilpa Saklani (Kkusum) and Apoorva Agnihotri (Armaan of Jassi Jaissi...). The couple took time off their busy shoot schedules to spend time in Lonavala.

"We're having a blast," said Saklani, "the weather is great here," she cooed over the phone. "We will be partying and making merry with a group of friends who have come along with us."

So what did Armaan gift his wife as an anniversary gift? "Keep guessing…"

The Diwali that was

With the spirit of festivity all over, indya.com spoke to some of the Nach Baliye couples and asked them how they celebrated their Diwali.

Apoorva-Shilpa and Archana-Parmeet had a joyous Diwali as they celebrated the festival by playing cards and bursting crackers, together. For them Diwali was all about having fun and being safe.

Often TV stars marry within the community and later rue the fact that they have such little time for their better halves. But they ain't cribbing, mind you. They make sure the little time they do spend with each other making up for the time they lose out on. We caught up with a few celeb TV couples to ask them what they thought about marriage and their spouses.

On the best quality in your spouse:

Apoorva Agnihotri found a quality that most men would tag as a quality they dislike in their wives. "Shilpa is a very bindaas girl. That is what I love the most about her. She is very forthwright and expresses herself very freely." Isn't that what makes Apoorva different from most men? Wifey Shilpa is very happy that her husband has accepted her the way she is. "Apoorva is not cynical and lets me be me. That is what I like the most about him. For me life hasn't changed a bit after marriage. It has only become better, if I had to mention any changes", she cooes.

On the best gift received from their spouses:

Apoorva Agnihotri is a lucky chap though. His wife keeps presenting him with gifts all the time. "I keep buying things for him all the time. That is my way of displaying affection for him", says Shilpa Saklani. And how does Apoorva show that he cares. "By receiving all the gifts", he grins, and explains, "after all, if I don't accept all those gifts, what is the point in her purchasing them." Good point Apoorva.

Do they still surprise each other by revealing different facets of their personalities?

Shilpa Saklani thinks she tends to surprise her husband. "I think women have the tendency to be mysterious and thereby surprise their hubbies by doing the unexpected."

Kiss and tell
RECENTLY, we've seen a lot of TV couples puckering up in public. So we decided to vote for our favourite kissing couple. The competition was tough with Maninee and Mihir Mishra giving us loads of action and Apoorva Agnihotri and Shilpa Saklani cozying up. But in the end we picked Parmeet Sethi and Archana Puran Singh for their tender lip lock.

Aafter shooting non-stop for over two years, the husband-wife duo Shilpa and Apoorva Agnihotri is making the most of their break. Ever since Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi wrapped up, Apoorva is in no mood to take up any more assignments that need him to follow a set schedule.

Just imagine, he even refuses to do major work-outs as he ll have to follow a diet, says Shilpa. She admits that her husband is extremely media-shy. It s not that he is unsociable but he prefers to be away from the spotlight. He doesn t want to be written about and I think people must respect that, says Shilpa.

After Jassi... Apoorva has been busy reading and watching soccer. We re getting to spend more with each other and that s most exciting. Also, we get to read, cook and spend time with our moms, says Shilpa. It was also a period of leisure for Shilpa as she wasn t required to star in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi after the leap.

But it seems as if this time-out in togetherness is soon coming to an end. The buzz is that Shilpa and Apoorva have received an offer to play the romantic lead in a serial.

The actress is rather tight-lipped and says, News in this industry travels fast. It s true, we ve been offered to do a show together. We read the script and in all probability we ll be doing the show, she says. It s a family drama. I can t divulge more details. I m superstitious about such things. There s many a slip between the cup and the lip. Once things are finalised I ll talk extensively. Till then, I m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping the deal doesn t fall through. It will be great working with Apoorva again.
