Pooja Bose and Nivedita Saraf

Balaji Telefilms' Sarvaguna Sampanna on Imagine is going to start its first shooting schedule in Kolhapur from April 18. Pooja Bose and Nivedita Saraf are expected to be part of this schedule.

A source from the show says, "The channel wants to launch the show from May 3. We have not shot a single episode so far, therefore day after tomorrow the entire unit will fly there and start shooting. We will shoot first few episodes in Kolhapur, as the story is set there. After that we will shift our location here in Mumbai, though we have not decided where we will shoot. Few important characters including the male lead still need to be finalised."

Saraf says, "I have no idea about the shooting schedule. Right now, I am in Kankavli for my play. The production house has not asked me for any dates."

Meanwhile the current buzz is that the channel may reshuffle their prime time slot, but the decision will be taken only in a few days' time.

For the time being neither Jyoti nor Bandini are going off air. Even other shows like Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein and Do Hanson Ka Joda stay put. The three recent shows Devi, Jamunia and Kashi which air at 10pm, 8.30pm and 8 pm respectively, may have to make place for this new show. So which show bears the brunt one needs to wait and watch!

Daljit Kaur will not be part of Imagine's upcoming show Rakt Sambandh, and taking her place is Gungun Uprari of Bandhan Saat Janamom Ka fame...

Daljit Kaur who was reportedly part of Imagine's upcoming show, Rakt Sambandh produced by UTV Telly Talkies will not be part of the show now. Taking her place is Gungun Uprari who was last seen in COLORS' Bandhan Saat Janamon Ka.

The show is the tale of five sisters who are held together by blood ties. As reported earlier, Bhairavi Gupte will play the eldest sister. Sayantani Ghosh, Sonali Nikam and Sriti Jha are the other sisters.

According to our source, "Things were finalized, and Daljit was confirmed to play the role of the fourth sister. However, Daljit did not approve of the character that was offered to her, and opted out of the show. Gungun Uprari who played the lead in Bandhan Saat Janmon Ka has been finalized now".

When contacted, Gungun confirmed the news to TellyBuzz and said, "Yes, I am playing the role of Shreya in Rakta Sambandh. I am excited to get back to work".

We talked to Daljit Kaur who said, "Yes, I was supposed to play one of the leads in the Imagine show. But when I had a detailed talk with the Producer, I got to know that this was not the character with which I would like to make a comeback. With due regards to the show, I would like to say that the concept of the show is very powerful and great, and I plan to be an ardent viewers of the show. However, on the personal front, I always wanted to get back with a role that I will enjoy playing. But this was not the one I was looking for, hence I decided to opt out. The Producer was very sweet, and he understood my priorities. My fans need to wait a bit longer to see me again (smiles)".

The cast and crew will be shooting the first promo very soon somewhere near Satara. The promo is expected to be on air in the third week of May. The show which will launch in June is expected to take the 9 PM slot.

Reporter and Author: Srividya Rajesh

So, in June, PKCM will be replaced, meaning that Jyoti is going to be around for at least another month. The promos of Desi Girl that are going around might happen either before or after Bandini. So while it seemed that this new Brij track implies an end to the show, looks like that's just a way to close one aspect of it, and shift to other things, like Jyotir, Sannam, etc. Since Sriti Jha will be in the above show, we might see less of her in Jyoti, meaning fewer Suday scenes. So I wish they show some more episodes of their romance, before she becomes a rarity on this show.

I'm thrilled to see that Jyoti will still be around some. Hey, since in Devi, Lakshmi is now going to school, end the show on that note, and intorduce Desi Girl in that time slot.

Bandini is the best fiction show on Imagine' - Harsh Rohatgi

01 May 2010 | 4:27pm 46 Comments

Harsh Rohatgi, the newly appointed Head of Content and Communiation, Imagine in an exclusive conversation with TellyBuzz..

Harsh Rohatgi has been a key member of the management team of Imagine since its inception. He earlier held the position of EVP – Revenue Management and New Ventures. Turner General Entertainment Networks India Ltd., as a part of their restructuring move, has promoted Harsh as the Head – Content and Communication of its flagship Hindi GEC, Imagine TV with immediate effect.

Harsh Rohatgi will now look into the creative, strategic, marketing, commercial and management functions of Imagine which will include Programming, Marketing, Communication, Commercial, Research and Strategic Planning.

Here is Harsh Rohatgi in an exclusive conversation with TellyBuzz..

How is it to head the team at Imagine?
It's pretty good. I am gearing up for the challenge.

What are the plans ahead for you and your team?
There will be no radical change as such. It is just that we will have a change in the way in which we approach things. We will be working more on the daily fiction shows. We will see new and interesting plots coming. We will continue to work with the top production houses like Balaji Telefilms, Sphere Origin, BBC etc. We want to maintain an edge when it comes to innovative non reality shows, and good fiction concepts.

Can you give us few examples?
We have Desi Girl coming shortly, which is a good example of cross pollinating ideas. It is an interesting show that will bring together the urban and rural set ups. In the next five weeks, we should be launching two good fiction shows. We also have a reality show coming, which is based on the lines of a show aired in the Turner channel in Korea.

How has IPL affected the viewership of Imagine programs?
IPL has affected all channels equally. Set Max had a GRP of above 450 during IPL, and I believe that more than 250 GRPs came from the GEC viewers. I would say that, Imagine lost nearly 10-12% viewership during this time.

Imagine has always come up with innovative concepts when it comes to non fiction. What's your take on it?
Well, audience is willing to watch newer concepts, and we are ready to experiment. That's what I would say.

Do you think that the second season of Swayamvar featuring Rahul Mahajan created less buzz when compared to Rakhi Sawant?
It's not like that. The timing was also different this time when compared to the last season. Even then, there was an overall buzz about the show, and we had reactions coming in.

Are you now planning a third season of Swayamvar on Imagine?
Yes, talks are certainly on with few people.

Is it that the cricketers are being targeted this time?
I would not comment on it, as we are talking to many people as of now.

Tell us something about Desi Girl?
Desi Girl is again a good concept. We will see some great interaction between the urban and rural people. It's a fun show, and will be interesting to watch.

When is Desi Girl to launch?
Desi Girl will launch on 21st May. It is a weekend show, and will air every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The concept is for 8 weeks.

Imagine has seen a lot of item girls like Rakhi Sawant, Kashmera Shah, Sambhavna etc being offered limelight. Is this intentional to grab more eye balls?
They are TV's friendly characters, isn't it?

How is your present fiction line up doing?
We are doing really well. We have some top shows like Bandini, Jyoti, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa. We have two relatively new shows in Kashi and Jamunia which will take time to get a hold on the audience.

Which according to you is the best fiction show on your channel?
Bandini of course!!

We have heard that a sequel of Kitani Mohabbat Hai is being planned. So can you update us about the plans?
Yes, the show is being brought back, courtesy fans' demand. The show is now in its planning stage.

Your GRP's have always remained between the 90- 100 GRP mark. How do you see it progressing?
In another few weeks' time, we should get to that 120+ mark. With the introduction of new programs, we will surely want to push the mark further ahead.

There has been a trend observed wherein, the channel gets a push in GRPs only when the reality shows are on. Will you not want more consistency coming from the fiction shows when it comes to ratings?
Yes, this is one reason why we have now decided that all our reality shows will be getting weekend slots, rather than daily slots. We will not disturb the fiction line-up from now to accommodate non fiction shows. This is why we have placed Desi Girl at the weekend slot.

What is the next objective when it comes to Imagine?
We will want to reach the 200+ GRP mark first, and take things from there..

Vrisha i guess Desi Girl will be in weekend slot...

well, looks like PKCM will end as the new promos r suggesting the comeback of karan in the show so what's next 2 b shown😕 really a n awkward situation in the serial 4 every1
well, i don't think there's anything 2 do with sudha's scenes or suday scenes being less in the show bcoz of her new show. after all, when have the creatives focused on sudha or uday after they moved on in the vashisth house after marriage???😕 they never show any suday moments n this really makes me sad😭 i don't think they got imp. even in the godh bharai episode. other couples danced on luv songs & other songs while suday danced only in 1 song 2gether😭

Sometimes I wish it would go off air. At least a lot of the bs can finally go away. This show I was excited for, and now I dread watching it. I feel like this show will go in circles until someone gets slapped with some sense.

Jyoti is surely going off air within 2 months.... Still time though.

It is confirmed from the sets of Jyoti.

Jyoti will no longer be stretched, but still to wrap up everything and bring an end will take some time.

So, you can expect Jyoti relpaced by some other programme by end of july 2010
