No, she had no right to disown Sudha, by doing that she has shown her step mother side again
why?
coz when sushma went behind everyones back and married brij she was the only one who looked triumphant while the others were angry
everyone disowned sushma but not padma
why? coz its her own daughter
also, how can she say sudha put shame on the family? the shame is already there by sushma and in a serious way
she slept with a guy for money, she danced in hotels, she worked in ppls houses, she slept with brij before marriage, she had an abortion, etc.
and all poor sudha did was marry the guy she loves, who loves her too

and btw. she had no right to slap sudha like that either
seriously, i really hate padma
no one in the world should end up so unfortunate as to have someone like her as their mother
she could have been right if she had meted out the same for sushma but she didnt and kept saying "sushma is MY child and jyoti and sudha ARE NOT" and she showed contempt towards them when anything good happened for them

I disagree w/ the slap, I don't think Sudha deserved any violence on her, particularly on the happiest day of her life so far. But I'm glad that she's disowned by Padma.

Why? For the reasons mentioned by MSRKL below. She hates Sudha so much that I'd rather she disown her completely and have nothing to do with her.

The reason I've been rooting so long for this marriage has been precisely that I wanted Sudha to be out of that house, and stop having anything to do w/ Padma. I was actually hoping that CM would be a sympathetic MIL - in the beginning, CM was really sweet to Sudha, especially @ Jyoti's wedding. It all turned south after Sudha's rape attempt, when CM resented Sudha being the cause of Pankaj's honeymoon being interrupted early. From today, Sudha wont be returning to the Sharma household (except maybe to pick up her things. Not even that, since she has always been wearing salwar kameezs upto now, but will have to wear saris like Jyoti all the time, since it's this family's tradition. So she'll need a new wardrobe anyways), and that's what makes me even happier about her marriage. Unlike other brides, she wont be missing anything by being married, and what's more, her dear Jyoti is in the same family (unless Uday decides that they can't continue to live there).

I have forgiven Sushma completely by now. Depending on how the story develops w/ Brij, he may or may not be forgivable. But Padma is the one person I haven't commented on so far b'cos I never believed that she's truly reformed - either towards Jyoti nor towards Sudha. Nor do I believe that she can reform. I do believe that CM can reform. But not Padma.

The reason Padma was nice the last few days to Jyoti and Sudha is that Sushma stopped hating them, and started loving them, and Padma doesn't want to make Sushma unhappy. So the other night, even though Sudha left as Devika, Padma hugged her when she returned. But left to her own desires, she'd rather have nothing to do w/ Jyoti, and probably likes Sushma and Deepu less now that both of them love Jyoti and Sudha.

And Sudha's and Sushma's cases were different in another important way. Sushma was a schoolgirl when she eloped, and her parents had no clue of what was going on. Her's was a really irresponsible move, granted that she was too young.

But Sudha has grown, graduated w/ flying colors, got a job and this is typically when people marry. And unlike Brij, Uday did approach them for her hand, and KK did have good reasons for refusing. But Padma's reasons were different: she hates the Vashisths, because they gave Jyoti a happy home that she could never give, while Sushma was in the dumps w/ Brij. So she hates Uday, opposes his romance w/ Sudha. Let's say Sushma had never married Brij, and Uday was romantically after her, you can bet Padma would have approved. But if Padma approves Suday, then her own daughter is shown as the only loser - now recovering from a broken and abusive marriage.

Part of it may have been the grueling that they received earlier from CM, and they couldn't prove Sudha innocent. When it turned out that she wasn't, then her anger turned on Sudha.

But Uday should have stopped her, or intercepted it, and told her that she's now his wife, and under his protection, and he would not allow anyone to hit her. Sudha is now a Vashisth, and so by hitting her, Padma is assaulting the izzat of the Vashisth family, even as she accuses Sudha of dragging the izzat of both families through the mud.

Oh, I agree w/ this, and I had a thread on how evil she is a while back. That's why although I disagreed w/ the slap, I'm glad she said that from now on, she'd have no relationship w/ Sudha. And now, Sudha belongs to this household, not the Sharmas, regardless of whether CM/Minal like it or not. And if they don't, and Uday can't stay there b'cos of that, then Sudha belongs in Uday's household, not Padma's.

I think if Padma would support them when they came after marriage, CM would think that they all were with them in this marraige and their family's support was involved, so I think Padma's anger was right, because CM had already abused her for this Suda's wedding thing.

whatever thank god sudha is out of shrma's family without KK & jyoti all had treated sudhalike a maid . Padma is the most disgusting person in the family Sushma is a better person. when Brij was not in her life she had loved sudha. now even she had helped her to get her loved person. Atleast Sudha will get some love from Uday & Jyoti. & Hope from Pankaj.
