Part 1: Uday convincing Sudha
The scene starts at the point where Jyoti is wondering whether Bhairavi doesn't see the condition Uday is in. Bhairavi, who overhears it, confronts her and tells her that she does, and that she's now certain of Jyoti's real intentions - her determination to bring Sudha into the family. She vows that as long as she's in that house, Sudha wont be able to enter it (oh yeah?) She also tells Jyoti that she had always doubted her, but now her doubts were a certainity. She also says that if anything goes wrong, all the blame will be on Jyoti & Jyoti alone.
Sudha tells Uday that it's impossible to do what he wants. Uday tells her that there is no alternative to this. Sudha tells him that the road ahead for them had been separated long ago, and that's what she had come here to tell him. Uday begs her not to say that, and that it was circumstances that separated them for a few days, but the truth is that they reside in each other's hearts. Sudha, almost in Devika style, tells him that these words only sound good to hear, but has no bearing on the truth. She continues that the truth is that today is his engagement and that his mom has picked his life partner and that's where he should be at that moment. Uday looks udas 🥺
The scene shifts to the Vashisth mansion, where the Kota bridal party (hence refered to as Kota) has arrived. The Vashisths greet them, and the Kota party introduces themselves. They take their seats and MN introduces Jyoti, Pankaj, Minal, Bhairavi, Dayal uncle & Pratik. The head of the Kota family praises the Vashists, and MN thanks him.
Sudha protests that marriage is not a game of pretend play, and that neither his family nor hers would accept what he wants. She doesn't want to enter into any relationship and hurt her family, nor enter into any love relationship and humiliate her family. Uday tells her to come with him, since she's admitted that she still loves him 👏 Sudha tries to insist that he return home right now, since everybody would be waiting for him.
Back at the engagement party, preparations are on - Pratik videorecording the desserts, and Bhairavi comes and instructs Longshree to take care of the guests. One of the women from the bridal party asks CM where Uday is, since they are eager to see him and she tells her that he is getting ready, and would be in any time.
Back at the mandir, Uday asks Sudha whether the families she is thinking about even once factored in their happiness, and she wants that they appease their obduracy and false peace by supressing their feelings? The walls of that house will have his picture with that of a girl who he doesn't even love. Everything would be a lie. He wont be able to love that girl, and is sure to destroy her happiness. That girl too would have dreams and expectations of a husband which he would never be able to meet. Sudha looks convinced by this argument 👏👏👏
Back at the engagement party, the Kota party continues to want to see Uday and spend some time with him before the engagement. CM agrees to call him.
Sudha and Uday are now inside the temple, and she has converted her pink dupatta into a veil. ❤️❤️❤️ Uday reminds her that this is the same spot (near the bell) where he had vowed to stand by her in all situations. Now the time has come for him to fulfill his vow Sudha looks nervous, but Uday continues that today, he's sworn that he'd either make her his bride and take her away, or else, he'd end his life. Sudha is shocked to hear this. Uday tells her that the decision is hers. What has she decided for him - life or death?
At the engagement, MN reassures the Kota party that Uday was probably on his way, but they should have some sweets, which are the pride of Udaipur. (This constant switching to the engagement party is really annoying - who gives a 😡🤢 about CM and her antics?) The bridal father tells him that he'd only eat out of the hand of the groom, and another one asks CM whether she's called him or not (this part is a breather - the Kota party pressurizing and embarrassing CM, the only silver lining in this constant switching between the scenes). CM beckons Minal and (apparently sends him to look for Uday?)
At the temple, Uday tells Sudha that he doesn't accept a sacrifice that a person regrets for the rest of his life after he has done it. To satisfy the pride of 1 or 2 people, they'd suppress the feelings they have for each other, but they'd be regretting it the rest of their lives, and by then, it would be just too late. He said that it wouldn't be greatness but stupidity of them to sacrifice their love for each other. Those who can't fight make a pretence of sacrifice. But he is neither weak nor stupid, and he'd fight for his love until the last moment. He calls on her to join him.
The priest arrives, and tells them that the auspicious moment for marriage is approaching fast and soon, the celestial positions would have changed and they'd have to wait 2 weeks for their next opportunity, so they should just hurry up 👏👏👏
At the engagement party, the priest there tells MN to summon the groom, and tells him that today, the auspicious moment is slightly late, and if there was a delay, then they would have to wait quite a while 😆😆😆 The Kota women are pressing Bhairavi to bring the groom out on time, and ask her why her daughter hasn't found her son. (It's funny seeing CM being haranged - something that normally only she does😃😃😃) MN & G look at each other worried. CM tells the Kota women that she'd look herself, and would be back shortly, and leaves. She goes off, and bumps into other Kota women who ask her the same thing. Minal comes back worried, and tells CM that Uday is not in his room. CM is shocked
Back at the temple, Sudha tells Uday that she agrees with everything he says, but that she is not courageous enough to take such a big step. Her upbringing doesn't allow her to do it. She points out that marriage isn't just a union of 2 people, but 2 families. She refuses, saying that she can't marry without the blessings of her elders.
Bhairavi is seething, wondering where is Uday, noting that he keeps disconnecting his phone. Minal tells her that he did the same to her - disconnect the phone. Bhairavi now worries, hoping that what she fears will happen doesn't happen. She spots Jyoti and calls her, and asks her where is Uday. Jyoti says that he must be in his room, but CM says that he isn't, and he keeps disconnecting his phone. Downstairs, the Sharmas arrive, and MN & G go to greet them. CM wonders what she'd do, since she has no answer for the Kota party. Minal offers to check with security, just in case they saw him go anywhere.
Jyoti too volunteers to search. She goes to a secluded place and calls Uday, and this time, he takes the call. He tells Jyoti that he was about to call her. He tells her that he's with Sudha. Jyoti is shocked and asks where. Uday tells her that time is short, and that pleads with her to listen to him. He tells her that Sudha and he are about to major decision about their life 😍😍😍 and tells her to come to the City Palace Mandir. Jyoti asks him what he is doing there, since everyone is waiting for him here, and the Kota party is asking for him. She tells him to come home, and then they'll talk. Uday tells her that he told her that time is short, and he can't explain this over the phone, and to get there in 15 minutes. He wont be taking any calls, and trusts her to be there. Jyoti begs him to listen, but Uday switches off the phone 👏👏 Jyoti is now desperate, and wonders what Uday is up to, and what she could do?
Part 2: The Vivah starts
Jyoti is hoping that Uday & Sudha don't make a false move. She decides that she has to stop them.
At the temple, Uday takes Sudha's hand and tells her that if she believes in his love, to trust him that they are doing the right thing, and that Jyoti bhabi will definitely be there to bless them. Sudha is comforted by the thought. The priest tells them that the elders can bless them later, but the auspicious moment won't wait for them 👏👏👏 He tells them to go ahead and garland each other. Uday picks up one, gives it to Sudha and then takes the other. Sudha garlands Uday ❤️😍 and a very happy Uday garlands her back ❤️😍 (These were some real goose bump moments. Did Sudha realize that by garlanding him, she had agreed to marry him, regardless of what she said?)
Jyoti panicking, takes Pankaj to the door and tells him Uday is not home. Pankaj is shocked and demands to know more, but Jyoti tells him that there is no time, and to somehow stall things while she goes and gets him. She needs to get to him fast before he does anything rash.
Uday & Sudha take their seats next to the sacred fireplace, and continue with the rest of the ceremony. While the priest is chanting the mantras, a worried Sudha turns to Uday and asks him whether he's fully confident that Jyoti didi will come, and he assures her she is. He tells her that their love is true, and that God sides with the truth, and so to surrender everything to him, and that everything will be fine. A woman's voice in the background tells them that they can't just marry like this. Sudha turns around to see who.
At the engagement party, MN is urging the servants to bring all the gifts to pacify an agitated bridal party, who demand the presence of the groom. Bhairavi & Minal arrive, and they now demand to know how much longer will it be, and she tells them that his dress has a problem, and he'd be here shortly. The priest is also angry and demands to know why they are delaying, and that there are still a few things left to do before the auspicious moment. (It's fun seeing people scold Bhairavi for a change) The Kota party agrees, and tell her that they go according to the astrological signs, and beg her to bring Uday there. Pankaj & Gayatri are standing there, silent. Elsewhere in the room, Padma leaves Dadi, goes to KK and notes that Jyoti is not to be seen anywhere. (Naturally, if she's on her way to Sudha's shadi 😆😆😆)
Jyoti is in an auto on her way to City Palace Temple. The auto stalls, and the driver tells him that the clutch is broken again (why not simply run out of petrol? 😆😆😆) Jyoti gets down and finds that she's in the middle of nowhere, and not likely to find an auto (Face it, lady, your sister is destined to marry, and the gods want you to fail to stop it)
In the temple, the lady who told them that they couldn't just marry like this gives Sudha a beautiful silken chundri, and covers her head with it, and Uday smiles happily 😍😍😍 The lady asks Sudha how can any bride be complete without a chundri, and smiles at her 😍😍😍 Now she looks bridal, and Uday smiles 😍😍😍 She adds a bindi to her - Uday's favorite appendage for her, and tells him how lovely his bride looks. Uday smiles happily. 😍😍😍
At the engagement, CM asks Pankaj where Jyoti is, and wonders what's going on - first Uday, disappears, and now Jyoti. In the meantime, Jyoti is running along that road, on the phone, and tries to call Uday, but his phone is off.
In the temple, the next stage of the wedding - Uday & Sudha are circling the fire, hand in hand, with the other temple attendees showering them with flowers, and mantras being chanted. They come to a halt, as the ceremony is almost complete. Jyoti in the meantime has found another auto and finally arrived at the mandir, and goes up the stairs. Uday picks up the mangal sutra from the thali and fits it around Sudha's neck. He next opens the container of sindur, and opens it, takes some and applies it on Sudha's hairline partition. The wedding is complete, and the conversion of Sudha from Miss Sharma to Mrs Vashisth is complete. (Sudha looks even more beautiful with that sindur on her head.)
This is where Jyoti enters the temple, and turns to see Uday and Sudha seated, and him applying the sindur on her. She is shocked to see this. Sudha turns to Uday and looks lovingly at him ❤️😍 while a shocked Jyoti looks on.
Uday looks up and sees her, and smiles, and tells Sudha that Jyoti didi is there too. Sudha is happy to hear this and turns to Jyoti didi. However, that smile turns to sadness when she sees the look on Jyoti's face. They get up and greet her, and Jyoti asks Sudha what have you done? (Gotten married, don't you see the sindur, the mangal sutra, dumbo?) She asks Sudha whether she didn't stop to think how their parents would show their faces outside? (Yeah, getting married is such a shame, and that too b/w 2 families already sharing a marital relationship) Sudha starts crying. Jyoti then turned to Uday and told him that you are a responsible person, ain't you, and the Kota people are there to see you, what would CM tell them? (Actually, that's icing on the wedding cake 👏👏👏 - CM's embarrasment) He had betrayed the trust that the family had in him.
Uday responded that honor, prestige, family, all were less important than the lives of 2 people. He pondered over this 100 times, not once. Then he took this step. When one loves someone, one cannot see him or her get ruined. The decision to marry him took Sudha back to the same place from where with great difficulty they had removed her. Had he gotten away from Sudha's life, she'd probably have died without him, and he asks whether he could have lived having caused the death of one he loved. Their families would not have experienced the same pain in forcing him to marry as they would have after they had lost them. He asks Jyoti to be the judge.
Jyoti responds that all preparation were done, the bridal party was there, what face could she show, and what would she tell people? Uday tells her that he doesn't know how she'll face them, but that no matter what the situation, Pankaj would be with her, because he loves her. Uday continues that Uday may be guilty in Jyoti's eyes for the rest of her life, but that today, he's not going to apologize, but instead, will seek her blessings. However, Sudha does seek Jyoti's forgiveness, since Jyoti had to face a lot of heat due to Sudha. Both dulhan and dulha touch her feet, and Jyoti blesses them and hugs them.
The temple lady comes to them and congratulates Uday & blesses both of them. The priest and other temple attendees also congratulate Uday & Sudha. Jyoti is happy to hear the well wishers, but worries what trials and tribulations this new couple will have to face, and how she herself will face CM. The episode ends.
Comments: My favorite Jyoti episode since it started. The day I was waiting for since Devika first discovered Uday, or vice versa. I feared that this wedding will be a shabby one, but it turned out to be really sweet. A simple wedding - like the one Jyoti & Pankaj had originally wanted 😆😆😆 I loved the way Sudha was vaccilating, and in the process, started with the garland, and before she knew it, she was Uday's wife. In fact, the whole thing is funny - how Sudha went there originally planning to end things with Uday, and ending up as his wife. 😆😆😆
Also, I just loved Bhairavi being on pins and needles for once, and having to be the one to do the explaining to both the bridal party, as well as the priest. Usually, such fire has to be taken by the bridal party, but in this case, it was the grooms party that was embarrassed.
