First, let's get CM out of the way here: I understand why fans of Jyoti would hate her. But aside from the fact that she is sometimes tactless and insensitive in her remarks - deplorable no doubt but certainly not hateworthy - most of her actions, when seen from the POV of someone who doesn't know the baggage that Jyoti is still carrying, is perfectly justifiable. A lot of us here have been critical of Jyoti for either not being honest about Sushma and Brij to Pankaj, or alternately not disowning Sushma altogether and avoiding all this controversy in the first place. Doing both is what has done Jyoti in so far. CM doesn't know this, or she'd have the same criticism of Jyoti once this all comes out, as it seems likely to. In fact, at this point, I actually hate Jyoti more than I hate CM - why did you eliminate that as an option?
One amongst the others you didn't have - Deepu. Yeah, he's reformed and all that, but the thing about him that pisses me off is that even though he knows that Jyoti has her own responsibilities @ her in-laws, he keeps dragging her into what happens @ their home - not just Sudha, where Jyoti needs to be there, but even Brij-Sushma, Padma et al. What's he - a retard? Why couldn't he earlier take Sushma's problems to Padma, instead of Jyoti?
Next Sushma. Sure, she's hateful, but one thing I actually respect about her is that unlike either Padma or Brij, she is true to her principles. So when she hates Jyoti, she makes it a point not to accept anything from her: she'd rather pimp herself than accept Rs50k from someone she hates. She doesn't accept her gifts or any goodwill gestures. Contrast this to Padma, who is happy to steal money that Jyoti has given for various reasons, latest being Sudha's treatment, or occasionally being nice to her, but later reverting to mean. With Sushma, there's at least consistency, and one knows what to expect, unlike w/ Padma. Sure, it's legitimate to hate her, but I disagree w/ those who place her below either Brij or Padma. Also, I'd be sympathetic to her when she's upset at her baby's life being sacrificed for hers.
About Brij, what can one say? Someone so shameless that not only did he have no remorse at being caught cheating, he marries Sushma and yet continues to be a serial womanizer. One thing I regret about the storyline is that none of Brij's womanizing activities have been discovered by either Jyoti nor Sushma. I do hope that they set cops on him, who catch him in the act, and publicise his arrest the way Sudha's arrest was publicised. That way, his reputation is destroyed, and he's behind bars.
But Padma trumps all of them. Sometimes, she's nice to Jyoti or Sudha, and at other times, totally mean to them. On one hand, she had no problems approaching Jyoti w/ a begging bowl for Rs50k, but later, she had no qualms about calling Jyoti a stranger in Sushma's life. She's also green w/ class envy at the Vashisths for no good reason, aside from the fact that some of their other guests were crass, but more because Jyoti had them and Sushma didn't. And despite the fact that she hates Sudha, she's constantly trying to interfare in her life: since Sushma is married to such a loser, Padma wants something even worse for Sudha, and that won't happen if she gets Uday and ends up in the same household w/ Jyoti, w/ unmitigated happiness. In fact, I hate all the scenes of Jyoti-Pankaj, Suday, and anything else that has Padma in them: she gets forgiven too easily, and is treated honorably by everyone, when she deserves none of it. I only wish that some of the things that have happened to Sushma to date actually happened to Padma, and that she gets killed before too long.
