Lonely tree hollers out to the now lonelier shack who had housed a sentry!

"A tree like me in your prior life, you were turned into a cabin in your prime,

But I dream to travel, to explore the unknown and hope to have a good time!

Trees lined on the curb along the paved roads have donned their fall costume,

Curtains up above have turned gray to set stage for the next act we presume!

Winds were invited to blow in to begin the shedding scene of the orange leaves,

The act that follows may make you sad, as you watch the stripped tree grieves!

When the story begins...
He is down with a paralytic stroke, unable to move about and to personally look after the affairs of the kingdom .

2. Aditya Karikalan.

The eldest son of Sundara chozhan. He was a great warrior and made a mark in his first battle at a place called Sevur, by defeating the Pandya King Veera Pandian by beheading him.

When the story begins..
He is in charge of the Northen command, posted at Kancheevaram.

3. Kundavai Devi:

The beloved daughter of the King Sundara Chozhan, who was respected by all the subjects. She had enormous influence in political as well as personal matters in the Palace.
When the story begins..
She is living with her friends- all belong to some royal families or other- in Kudanthai, a place a little far away from the Capital, Thanjavur.

4. Arulmozhi Varman.

The youngest son of the King, doted by the prajas of the kingdom.

When the story begins..
He is in Srilanka, engaged in a battle.

5. Vandiyathevan.
A charming, brave and brilliant young man, who is in the army of Prince Karikaalan, and is also a personal friend of him.

When the story begins..
He is travelling in the Chola kingdom, carrying messages from Aditya Karikaalan to the King and the princess, Kundhavai.

6. Nandini..

An extraordinarily pretty young woman, married to the most important "pithamakar" of the kingdom Pazhuvettarayar the Sr.,
She is the old flame of the Prince Karikaalan..

When the story begins..
Vandiyathevan meets her in an extraordinary circumstance.

7. Pazhuvettarayar, Sr. ( The Chancellor)

As a personal friend of the king and a loyalist, he was responsible in bringing victory to the King in the battles in which he participated.
When the story begins ..
He is travelling to attend a meeting at Kadambur, organized by all the small/ individual rulers under the chola kingdom to decide about the successor to the throne.

8. Kalandaka kandar ( Pazhuvettarayar Jr. )

A very trusted younger brother of the Chancellor, who respects him greatly, but disapproves the action of his brother marrying Nandini.

When the story begins..
His son in law, Madurantakan, is put up by the small rulers as a claimant for the throne.

9. Madurantakan.

He is believed to be the son of King Gandaradityar and his queen Chembianma Devi

When the story begins..
He is travelling in the palanquin with Pazhuvettarayar Sr.

10. Thirumalai.
A staunch Vaishnavite, also known as Alwarkadiyan Nambi, is the spy of the chief minister Anirudhar.

When the story begins..
He encounters Vandiyathevan, and as the story moves, he comes to his rescue very often.

11. Chief Minister Anirudhar.

Being another trusted friend of the King, he holds many royal secrets in his heart.

When the story begins..
He is on travel in the kingdom..

Karkuzhali.

Awesome start Aunty. Looking forward to more and more.

Do not find the names daunting Baisas. If the characters of Mahabharat were to be introduced for the first time too the names would seem confusing. But soon they will become familiar.

And if aunty is going to tell the story with the illustrations it is going to be a lot more easier to identify them.

Some more titbits

King Gandaradityan's son Madhurantakan was a baby when his father died. So his uncle (chacha) ascended the throne. The uncle too didn't live long and his son Sundara Chozhan ascended throne. Madhurantakan is younger than even Sundara Chozhan's sons. But the original queen (Madhurantakan's mother and Gandaradityan's wife) is alive and a Shiv Bhaktini and for some reason doesn't want her young son to inherit the throne. She tries her best to keep him away from politics and into religion and is all for Sundara Chozhar's children becoming future kings.

The Prime Minister Anirudhar is extremely loyal capable and has 'eyes and ears everywhere'.

Nandini's beauty was sans compare and could floor anyone. The Sr.Chancellor who was a staunch loyalist to the Empire and who could not be bribed bought or tempted -his biggest weakness was his wife Nandini. And he was allowing himself to be influenced more and more by his pretty wife sometimes even in political issues which his younger brother Chancellor Jr doesn't approve.

The only person who withstands her beauty (more because he is full of himself and the madness of carefree youth) is our 'hero' Vanthiyathevan.😎

I think I have kindled the expectation of all the baisas to the maximum level. Let me see how far I can manage. My first handicap is that I cannot open a new topic here due to some technical issues. As an alternative, I can only share Lashy's thread .Secondly it is humanly impossible to present the story in the same style and format as written by the author.It is also not necessary. Because there are so many venues available in the internet for the readers to devour the beauty of the novel.My object is just to create an interest in the readers to go in search of the original works of the author.

Thirdly, I do not know how far I will be physically fit and mentally ready to complete it. I should continue to have the same enthusiasm..

Last and not the least, I am not an expert in the language. My vocabulary is very limited.
