Are there any other reasons for him not to loke AMK? Did something happen in the past? Is he somehow related to AMK's mom in the capital in some way o take revenge? I know I am trying to grasp a far-fetched cloud up there, but just trying to see some other reasons for this vendetta!

And also what is his affiliations with Khalil? Maybe his anger towards AMK is also because what he did to Khalil! Maybe Khalil is related to him in some way or he is fond of him for some reason. And after Khalil's demotion in Shehzade's eyes, he took it upon himself to punish AMK who was the root cause of it all.

Khalil is out and out black, there is no grey in him, Mahendra is a slimy two-faced creature who thinks only of himself and his power and this FS is the wise owl who observes, looks on for an opportunity and then scoops down to its prey to vanquish it in a jiffy!

I also don't know how much of help will Tejpal be able to provide to AMK! Only his words that Mahendra was lying may do something but will the Shehzade listen to a nobody like him over all these people like Mahendra and FS?

Aunty another point to be noted is he went to Mecca for pilgrimage. Back in the 17th century going to Mecca by ship and returning the same way took a long time, my estimate is FS was out for a year if not more when this entire episode of Parnagarh commenced. 🤔 Maybe that is the reason we didn't hear about him.

But being the royal advisor he should and would be updated with all possible informations including news of AMK and Khalil. Moreover, Khalil was sent out by Shehzade to Iran for sometime I think! Maybe he caught up with FS there somewhere. Just a rough guess, author Sahiba will tie all the loose ends later. 😃

Was Farooq Sahib in HBAS before?

Lavanya and Lana are right in that he hasn't made an entry in HBAS prior to this. He was away on a trip to Mecca (a round trip of almost 5000 miles). Keeping in mind the 17th c conveyances, it would have taken him a long time to complete that.😊 So, he has been away during all the events of HBAS. Possibly updated himself on the developments once he started re-entering Indian territory...

If he has just returned from Mecca, why is he not more noble at heart?

Over and over, we have seen that (after money and power) RELIGION is the BIGGEST driving factor in human violence from time immemorial. Why, when a holy priest whose main purpose in life is to pray/wish for the goodwill of others can torture an innocent 8 year old (inside the temple) just to prove that his 'religion' is greater... what more does one need to say about how blinding this factor can be? How about the cow-rakshaks who are killing people to protect cows just to prove a point (when thousands of other animals are being slaughtered anyway!!!!)?

Why, when Islamic fundamentalist scholars - the supposed wise - are still being arrested today for preaching violence against non-believers - basically, killing the innocent through mass bombings in return for an assured place in 'Jannat' what more can one say? These are all the supposedly 'wise' people!!!👏 The irony!

Farooq Sahib is another face of such 'fundamentalism'! That's all... 😊

Such fundamentalists can overlook several faults of those whom they believe belong to their own religion - even murder and rape (Khalil)... but cannot appreciate the goodness of those whom they do not consider their own (Akbar) - this, even if they had a prior relationship with them. Much like the parents who suddenly disown their own if the son/daughter weds into another religion... even kill their own kids whom they birthed and nurtured - all in the name of family honour (honour killing) !

Besides, a character such as FS, is not a figment of my imagination. It is well documented, that it was the Ulamas/Ulema (Religious advisors/scholars) like Farooq Sahib who were responsible for changing the course of the Mughal dynasty. It is said that only 2 monarchs could resist their fanatical influence - The Khiljis and Babur/Akbar... the rest of the emperors pretty much HAD to please the overpowering Ulema and succumbed to their pressures in order to keep the peace in court.

Little wonder then, that what was a pretty secular regime to start off ended up into something quite the opposite by the time Aurangazeb was there...

Why was Farooq Sahib chosen to investigate Akbar?

Because he is a a trusted confidante of the Shehzaade - one whom the prince assumed did not have too much of a vendetta... and was most possibly on Akbar's side till recently (when FS assumes that Akbar has started siding with the Hindus).

One who has the means to carry out such an investigation because of the power/influence he wields in court.

One who is not a spy/soldier/general or anything military and can thus carry out an investigation without alerting the Ustaad!
