Lashy, I know what you mean! The problem is the morbid act of losing a woman's honor due to physical force though prevalent very much even in this day and age, no one wants to hear or read about it! But art imitates life and vice-versa and such hideous crimes occur pretty often not only today but even in those days of the Mughal era and we know no matter how unpalatable it is, it was the truth. The Mughals did dishonor women left, right and center and that is the very reason the 'pardah system' came in to being and is prevalent even now.
And to make your story realistic to the era and to bring forth the temperament of ghoulish men like Khalil you have to do what you have to do! That will be the artist's touch to bring the impact in the reader's mind which I know you did! So whether you got some glares or heard endless objections you gave a human touch to the story which shook the reader's conscience and made us realise how women were always treated with dishonor, disrespect, a product of pleasure, or a doormat whether it is back then or now. And as I said for men like Khalil that is what you expect, very few assassins or men of power under the royalty with devilish temperament will have the morals and values of AMK! That is why AMK is that special someone to me because of his strict principles and pristine character! We don't find such men like him very often in day to day life, wish the world had more of such men rather than men like Khalil!
Anyway bottom line, you gave the story a more gruesome impact that was required to bring out the pathos and helplessness of Heera which made her situation more pitiable and looked upon with feelings of sympathy and benevolence. It is your story after all! 😃
