Help the Intelligence officer solve the crime!
The officer had kept some highly confidential documents in his desk drawer one night. But when he got back next day, they were missing.
He checked around his room and drew in a deep breath. There was a lingering fragrance in the room. He'd already located a suspect A.
Having caught the suspect, he subjected A to some serious questioning.
'I did go through the secrets in your cupboard, but not in the desk drawer!' Said A tearfully 'I did notice another suspect B though... B was sneaking out at night through the window... B met someone secretly at the stream...'
On further investigation, the intelligence officer realised that suspect B had done nothing apart from steal one of his horses and elope with one of his men! So, he sent out a task-force in search of B and got back to business!
But in the meanwhile, one of the stable boys mentioned that he spotted a suspect C - roaming around the haveli at night.
His men went about tracking clues and tracing foot prints around the haveli, but it seemed like this person left none!
'Any other particular description of this person C?' asked the officer.
'It was night... couldn't see well... but I think C was wearing a black mask...'
The officer was about to declare this person C a figment of the stable boy's imagination, when a young maid came rushing and handed to the officer a black mask found in the bag of another maid.
C was dragged into the room for interrogation. And after a long while of putting up a very brave face, C confessed doing nothing else but keeping an eye on D & E's activities.
'D comes and goes very early... before anyone wakes up... and no one knows when D comes or goes...'
'Any other clues to find D?' he asked.
'I find D greeting another person E everyday!'
'Anything to lead us to E?' the officer was positively losing his patience by now!
'I found E drop something once that resembled the shell of a peanut...'
'Shell of a peanut?' he mulled, walking up to his horse stables that evening, tired of going around in circles.
The stables were deserted. Except for two dark unfamiliar shadows - suspects F and G they instantly became!
They were obviously trying to stay hidden, but the officer could hear them well. They had possibly forgotten what they'd come for and had begun arguing. Loudly. Over some handsome boy. 'Great!' though the officer and caught them red-handed
'We have been trying to solve the mystery too!' F & G sulked in the interrogation room later 'We're trying to help you'
'But G distracted me...' whined F
'F did it first...' fought G
'Stop fighting... and what were you investigating?'
'The missing documents from your room!'
'WHAT! If G & F came to investigate how could they get so distracted with trivial fights?' The officer was taken aback. 'Anyway go on...'
'We saw two people run from the haveli... a H & an I... with a bag in their hands... we think they stole your documents, Sahib...'
'And it seemed like they've definitely been a team for long!'
'Well... H was very fast... and seemed like the frisker of the two... possibly young and quick... they way H jumped over one of your horses'
'Suspect I was slower... a little older... but wiser of the two... came up with the craftiest ideas... to escape... I saw them both!'
'H & I... young and old... one fast, one wise... stole my documents...' Akbar instantly knew - H & I were the infamous hired-hands working for master-minds J & K!
The DON K was a spendthrift, throwing lavish parties at night... liked the company of food, drink and dancing women!
But K's partner J, had the mind of a razor and spoke in riddles - many times difficult even for the Intelligence officer to crack J's code!
A dangerous duo they were!
'What could J & K want now?' wondered the officer
Who're the suspects A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I , J AND K?😉
