And now everytime I'm having to say those lines a gruff voice is echoing back I'M AKBAR...and I'm ending up missing a few beats.😕

Also, the biggest difference was that at that time - it was the end of a work day.. and this was an area they weren't meant to tread into... teasing the Sahiba et al... he was fighting his feelings then..

Today he's not fighting his feelings... it's something he's embraced..

Besides, today it was his wedding day and they were (sort-of) in their rights to tease him.
He's not going to throw knives at them for teasing him... and a general sadness (which wasn't there then) that this wedding probably made her further from him than she was earlier... at Aidabad, she wanted to come closer to him but he was the one pushing her away

Seems you didn't like this chapter much...

Not even her thoughts and his perceived thoughts during the Kanyadaan? His first thoughts as he saw her? Their first silent banter after the wedding? Her getting distracted by toerings?

Of course not. I did like the chapter very much. But as i said a lot of it was on predictable lines. I had expected the thoughts, actions and reactions ditto. 😔 The Lashy Special touch that makes one startle and sit up, drool and chuckle and dream about, wince and rage was only slight.

Again i confess i rushed to the last part before i read the first about the rituals. ☺️ and that stayed on with me.😊

In the wedding proceeds, These lines were perfect.

'Thank you Allah...' whispered Akbar, when the Imam returned to announce his bride's decision 'Thank you...' he smiled again, the softness of his smile masking the flurry of emotions that'd erupted within.

1. Satisfaction thatnothing went wrong in the last moments in his plans.

2. Relief that Heera was safe finally.

3. Elation that the lady who first captured his imagination and heart was his now.

4. Joy that he was finally wedded to his love.

5. Sadness that what he had wanted had happened but not the way he would have wanted it to.

6. Thrill at the anticipation of closeness to her, though not physically as of now.

7. A sense of belonging.

Responding to the news with a nod, he thus displayed acceptance of his new wife - into his home, his heart and his life.
