Hopeless basically has a ring of 'incompetence' to it... he is hopeless... she is hopeless etc refers to a person who's totally given up, a defeatist, someone who's in despair and desperate! That's why even for Heera - I generally say her situation was hopeless, but she wasn't hopeless.Both, Heera and AMK are go-getters... they've been through the toughest situations but try and find a way out of it... so 'hopeless' wouldn't be the right adjective to use for them... more for their situation!'Without hope' - simply means he doesn't have hope about a particular thing... i.e. he currently doesn't have hope that Sahiba is going to believe him so soon. The son doesn't have hope that his father will beat this round of cancer therapy.That doesn't make them defeatists, just makes them without hope for now😳I think that's the difference...Hopelessly romantic though means something else - it means someone has no hope that he can ever NOT be a romantic...Hope it helped (again these are my personal interpretations of how the words are used and sound😳)
