Thank you Harshu for sharing.. Though I had read all these information so many times before , I get goosebumps whenever I read about such events happened around the time of Independence.. probably I am the only person in our group who was fortunate to witness the National flag hoisted for the first time. In the absence of Television we largely depended on the radio and on the news reels shown in the cinema houses .I was only eight at that time, but still remember my father hoisting the flag in the terrace of our house exactly at 12.00 clock midnight of the 14th.

Saraswathi aunty.

You are indeed lucky,aunty😃
It would have been a very special moment!😊

Such a proud moment for us Indians to see the Tricolour unfurl itself, in full glory. But sadly enough, most of the people who had toiled hard to achieve it could not live to see their dreams come true.

Thank you Harshu di for these pics!!!
Honestly, they give me goosebumps, as if living those moments through these memoirs of past.

If possible, please pm me your subsequent threads 😳

Awesome thread Harshu. Your best till date. 👍🏼

As much we rejoice memories of our real and reel Jodha and Akbar, seeing these golden pictures of a freshly independent India free from the clutches of the British Raj, is something else, altogether. The smile on Mahatmaji's face is precious and priceless.

Like Saraswati aunty correctly pointed out, we may have seen these pictures and read related articles several times before, but every time we see them, they remind us of a free India, we view them with a feeling of nostalgic pride.

Jai Hind!
