My dear Selvi,

First things first. I am delighted that you like my kind of humour so much. It says something about you too, for the example you have cited is a subtle but very funny one that not everyone would grasp!

I was pleased to know that you are on the same page as I about the show and also about Jodha. She is a badly written character, and the Jalal-Jodha pairing is fundamentally unbalanced. It gets worse as the series proceeds.

I am sorry that you did not comment on any of my threads. It would have been very interesting to read your views. Maybe next time, in a new forum for a new show! I will let you know.

Take care, my dear.

Shyamalaji, i've read almost all of your reviews and loved them all...mostly coz i feel the same way about the characterisation of jodha as you...a flawed character for full show i felt...whenever she was praised by Jalal or HB, i felt like there was an undertone to it... Esp. Jalal's...always inconsistent i felt...

Anyways, i enjoyed your writings and sad there wont be more...many a time i had been in splits like in this one for eg.
(as no supplementary offerings will be expected of them now)

I had been most busy these 2 months, but still managed to read all post ..thanks mostly to your PMs...otherwise i would've missed them...and Thank you so much for your PMs...

I look forward to reading more of yours...GOOD LUCK...

My dear Munni,

I am glad you agree with me about my decision to call a halt to this series. I too look forward to having you back with me in another forum to discuss Rajat's new show. And who knows, we might shock you by agreeing for once!😉

aunty, its nice to read ur posts & sad tht this is ur last post. but in a way im happy bcoz personally i had already given up on the re-runs. just watch it occasionally. anyways, honestly i dont think anyone is more poor than rajat bcoz he had to go through the most poor scenes & characterization especially after leap. at least jodha's character was always consistent. jalal was turned from the alpha male to joker, dumb, budduram to spectator to majnu. as u said the right balance between the 2 leads was totally missing. so re-runs doesnt excite me anymore. hope to see u again with fabulous posts & obviously where once again we can clash.😉

This is a very good decision. There is no fun /charm in stretching good things also.

The story had enormous potential but it was a let down after first 120 episodes. And your writing has been the best thing to me about the serial. No kidding or exaggeration.

Have learnt quite a lot about writing and communicating from all of these posts.

Let's see if Indian TV has another worthy serial coming up which will pull you into IF. I wish and hope so.

Take care Akka. God bless !!!

Mandy dear,

Yes, that is exactly what we will do, regroup in the forum for Rajat's new show. I hope it surfaces by next summer. Keep your fingers crossed for my fingers to be reasonably fit even then.

Affectionately,

Shyamala

Shyamala dearest just got your pm will pm you after work and yes very rightly said that the show was good only upto 100 episodes and after that it was tiring on the soul to see Akbar's image suffer to such an extent! I too will adieu JA forum as there is no reason left for me to come here, we will stay in touch like the rest of us and rajat's show might come soon and we will regroup there...fingers crossed!

Thank you so much for understanding me, my dear Sri. Thank you even more for your very warm words about my posts.

I very much hope that we can regroup to see Rajat again by next summer. One good thing if it is in Chandragupta Maurya is that even Ekta cannot fit in a mahaan female lead there! There will be only Chanakya for competition!😉

See you again soon, my dear. I hope your son is doing well. I still remember his comment about one of my Mahakumbh posts! I was really flattered!

Affectionately,

Shyamala Akka

My dear Donjas,

The journey with Jodha Akbar, yes. I am grateful to you for accepting my decision , which, truth to tell, was forced on me. But even if it had not been so forced, I do not know for how much longer I could have kept it up.

As I have told you often earlier, my writing has rarely been praised with such heartfelt and eloquent appreciation as by you, and I am most grateful for that too. Every writer needs readers like you, who light up the writing with the warmth of their appreciation. It is like basking in front of a cozy fire on a winter night. And with unerring taste too, witness your choices for your personal favourites among my posts. So I too should thank you, and I do. Very much.

As for it being unlikely that our paths will ever cross again, unlikely is a good word, for it does not close any doors. I never say never, for I have seen the most unlikely things happen in real life. So let us leave that on the lap of the gods.

Thank you also for your good wishes for my health. I am going to need them. I wish you the best of health too, for that is the most important wish of them all.

Take care, and God bless.

Shyamala

Just glanced at the sad and shocking news. So, the journey of two and a half years finally comes to an end. I have read numerous posts of yours over this time, sometimes I did not agree with your views but the quality of your writing has never ceased to amaze me.

You transform a good episode into a magical one with words, the two best examples are the Jalal Bharmal encounter, and the Jalal at the dargah pleading for Jodha's life.

It is unlikely that our paths will ever cross again so I wish you best of luck and renewed health. Thanks for all the wonderful posts over the years.

Shyamala you said what i was going to say never say never as to me it sounds like closing doors on someone's face, unlikely is more appropriate and politically correct...😉

Dear Shyamala Di!
I respect your decision (a little have selfish regret 😳), I want to say THANK you for a wonderful chat with the humor, for wisdom, for the generosity with which you shared your thoughts!
I created a very beautiful picture of JA. I saw what I wanted to see. Our great poet Aleksander Pushkin wrote:
"...Ah, obmanut' menya ne trudno, ya sam obmanivatsya rad! "
"... Ah, fool me not difficult, I delude myself happy".

But, leaving the right to the imagination, I prefer to see not the flat pink picture but all the world with all the colors. :)
Of course, Ekta Kapoor's Jodha isn't princess whom I to myself thought up, but your disappointment in her is so talented and interesting!!
I would like to ask for links to your old messages, but you've already given one.😊. Unfortunately, I could not find the old debate. If there are links to the following episodes, they can be put here ???
Rajat Tokas was the most important success Ekty Kapoor and what could be a wonderful movie!

I want to introduce you to the excerpt from the novel by a wonderful Russian writer Alexander Grin "She Who Runs on the Waves" [Begushchaya po Volnam (Running on the waves)].

"...He definetely hinted at something. And I remembered my talks with him about the power of might-have-been future. This power faded a bit due to my accute disease, but i stil heard it sometimes in my soul, its steel movement, that promised not to fade.
Moving from town to town, from city to city, I obeyed the thing more powerful than passion or mania.

Sooner or later, late in life (in old age) or in the high noon, the might-have-been future calls for us and we look around trying to find where it came from. Then, suddenly awaken in our world with grievance and appreciating every day, we peer into our life in order to understand whether the might-have-been turns into what really has been, whether it's image has become clear. Do we need to stretch our arm to catch and hold its fainting and twinkling features? In the meantime the time is going on and we are drifting between tall and misty shores of might-have-been, talking about our chores..."

Dearest Shyamala aunty,
I am really going to miss your posts. And the latest gift to Lavanya ( and thanks to her, to us) just makes it that much harder to let go. I knew this was going to happen soon and was even going to remind you of the possibility that with Christmas fast approaching, the forum would be even quieter. I agree with you; I understand why you have taken this decision and how right it is at this point yet feel bereft.

Aunty, thank you for bringing me out of my shell/silence, for making me participate in the forum, and meet new friends in the process. I have learned a lot from you and your posts and refuse to say goodbye. Not just because I am certain that our paths will keep crossing, which I am, but also because a born writer like you cannot /will not not write. I will look forward to Rajat's next and to any other show that will force you to pick up your pen again.

It would, of course, be wonderful if you do give a thought to doing your very own take (not episode analysis of the rerun) on Jodha Akbar. It is imperative that you keep exercising your fingers to keep them fully functional. I do know you know this but cannot help but say it as I have experienced this first hand while regaining the use of my right hand after a severely fractured clavicle ( and not only for the obviously selfish reasons!).

To misquote our favourite Humphrey Bogart, here's to reading you aunty! 🤗
Warmest Regards and love, and the most sincere wish that the pain remains at bay and manageable.
Ashwinee
