Chapter 22

25th Feb 2016

11:30 pm

Jodha was deeply immersed in searching for her long lost dress. She barely remembered its looks. Someone who didn't know her stubborn nature would definitely snigger at her. Not that, she didn't have people to sneer at her, live example was standing behind her, but she was least bothered about them. Jalal had already taunted her at lot but she simply ignored him now. Her phone buzzed. Disgruntled, she picked up the call.

"Hello!" the caller voiced. "Hello! Who's this?" She replied.

"It's me Shakti." The receiver turned ecstatic on listening to him.

"Bhaiya! You called after such a long time!"

"I had to Jo! After all, Jalaluddin Mohammad had personally called me requested to talk to you!" The touched girl looked at her love with teary eyes.

"Jalal??"

"Yes dear! MY boss!" he worked in Jalal's company in the USA. Initially, he was startled when Jalal called him. But, later he knew the reason. It wasn't about business, it was about his sister.

"How's bhabi?"

"She's doing well! Working as the senior manager in an MNC. How's Mom and Raj?"

"Both are doing really well. And bhabi is also doing well.. Do call Raj Bhaiya after you hang up! Pleaseee" She pleaded him with her puppy eyes. Though, he couldn't see her. But, he said a yes, as if he'd seen her puppy eyes.

"I can't wait to meet you. Please come soon!"

"I will sweetie!"

"I miss you so much!"

"Miss you too dear!"

The duo hung up with a smile.

The content lady looked at her beloved and before he could comprehend anything, she took him in a tight hug.

KNOCK...KNOCK...

Someone knocked on the door of the two sleepy heads, Surya and Aarav. Not wanting to disturb his beauty sleep, both of them were just waiting for the other one to open the door. Finally, Surya woke up when the other one didn't. Cursing him badly, Surya walked towards the door.

"Jalal! You? So early in the morning??" Uttered him, astonished.

"Yes. I need to talk to you about something really important before I leave today."

"Great! Come later." He whispered in a sleepy voice.

"Surya! Wake up! I want to talk right now! And not here. We'll talk in the garden." Jalal said while stretching the sleeves of his hoodie.

Surya stepped out after snuggling into his bright colourful sweater. He looked at his mobile and said," Jalal, it's just 11C right now. Can't talk when it's MORNING?" He was lazy. All the time he was just thinking, how could Jalal manage to wake up so early on a winter morning when people love get cosy inside their blankets?

Twilight melted away, majestic sunrise, red orange glow seeping over the horizon as if the light itself was being poured from a molten sun. Powerful rays flood over the landscape lighting every blade of grass, shining from each leaf. Experiencing sunrise in winters in Delhi was nothing less than stunning. Jogging was possibly the best idea during this season. Though it was chilly outside, but still there were a lot of people out for exercising. The tea stalls were wide open and some of them even served breakfasts exclusively for winters. The morning fresh air with birds chirping all around gave a divine feeling. The duo stepped to position themselves in the garden, searching for a tea stall nearby.

"I wish Jodha would be here with us." Jalal muttered. He looked at the lad who was walking leisurely. The latter frivolously answered, "LOL. A big joke Jalal. Jodha can never wake up so early. I wonder whether she has even seen a sunrise till date."

"Is there any tea stall nearby? Why don't we discuss over a cup of tea?" suggested the striking male. "Yes, let me take you to the place which once upon a time was our hangout place." Surya walked past him and lead him to a tea stall nearby.

He soon spotted his favourite stall. "There is nothing more comforting than a hot piping cup of tea on a cold winter morning with a plate of steaming hot momos to beat the winter chill. I bet you would savour the taste here."

" Do chai Bhaiya.!" (Two cups of tea brother!) The tea- lover ordered but Jalal politely refused, stating, he doesn't have tea early in the morning. So instead, Surya just made it one, for himself. Jalal told him whatever he and Chitraksh had discovered recently.

"I don't want to involve Aarav or Rukaiya in this matter." He reasoned. "I wish the same Jalal. I agree that Jodha, Rukaiya and Aarav are friends, but, still involving them doesn't sound well. So let it just be me you and Raj Bhaiya." After discussing the stuff both of them headed back home.

...

9:30 am

Jodha's house.

The busy lady peeked through the window to see the source of the smell. It was the smell of roasted peanuts. She had a pleasant smile on her face recalling her bitter-sweet encounter with her Bhaiya and dad some years ago, on a chilly winter morning, in Jaipur, her hometown. She was barely 14 then.

It was a chilly cold morning. The sleeping beauty was sleeping on her comfy bed, in her Jaipur house, during her winter vacation. As given the title LazyBones', she perfectly fit in it. As usual she was lazy to wake up, when her demonic brother came up with a new idea to torture her. He burst a gigantic balloon filled with ice-cold water on her face which was way too attacking attempt when she was in deep sleep. She took a few seconds to actually realize what just happened to her and where has she landed all of a sudden. Looking at her brother's face, she apprehended that it was her not-at-all naive brother's devilish act. Maintaining a composed face, she waited for two minutes and then suddenly hit him hard with a pillow.

"Ouch!" he reacted at the sudden attack. "Wake up idiot." He yelled at her. Unwillingly, she woke up to avoid her merciless brother's acts. He forcefully took her out of the house for a walk with her dad.

"That warm smell of roasted peanuts that hangs in the winter air. One of the best winter smells in Jaipur. Crispy peanuts, with a hot cup of tea are a perfect combination to wave away the chills." Savouring the morning snacks, the active father stated.

"You can spot these peanut-walas at every corner of the street." He added while sipping his hot tea.

"Chalo now let's head back to our home. Otherwise your ma will start the calling session." The children giggled and started walking with their usual chit-chats.

"That warm smell of roasted peanuts that hangs in the winter air. One of the best winter smells in Jaipur. Crispy peanuts, with a hot cup of tea are a perfect combination to wave away the chills." Jodha said, correction, whispered. The man standing beside her, preparing a cold coffee for himself, was perplexed. "O miss, you're in Delhi not in Jaipur!" he shook her. "Aah? Haan? What??" she stood there gaping at him. " You were murmuring something. Peanuts, smell, Jaipur? What was that??" "Um.. Nothing.. Preparing a cold coffee? In winter? Crazy boy." she questioned, looking at the ice cubes in his hand. "Yeah." He smiled. "One for me too please!" she requested. "Sure.!" Putting the cubes inside the mug, he picked up another mug.

Leaning on the pass-plat, Jodha probed, "you are leaving today afternoon right?" receiving a nod from the occupied chap, she continued, "I'll miss you." She ended with her pout, enough to melt Jalal. "Don't do this Jo. It's too irresistible." "So Jalaluddin Mohammed is melting in someone's charms ha?" She teasingly stated. "Ahan. I see... So that's a melting war you're playing?" "I'm credulous baby!" she said, starry -eyed. "Seriously?" Jalal said mobbing towards her. Grabbing her from the waist, he whispered huskily, "Innocent word doesn't suit your pea-sized brain Jo!" Jodha stood gaped. She squinted her eyes and asked," May I know what makes you say that?" "If you're so open to watch intimate scenes, that too in the presence of your mother, i gravely admit what I said just now!" Jalal smirked at her, wittily. She was embarrassed, not because Jalal had caught her off-guard that day. He too was open-minded like her. But because, even her mother had seen her concentrating on the scene, probably that's what everyone thought. Arguing with him over this would be a waste of time, so she just took the coffee mug from him, and placed herself on the couch.

"Jalal! The coffee is too mouth-watering!" The impressed lady appreciated him.

"Thank you my lady!" he bowed down slightly as to give her a act of respect. She just giggled at his sweet act.

Jalal was sipping his coffee, when a totally unexpected question was raised. "Mom was asking about our engagement plans Jalal!" The stupefied man badly coughed. The worried lady patted his back, in order to calm him. After he was done, he resumed, "See Jo, I don't have any problems with that. But first I want you to settle down with your career. Besides it'd be too early step as far as I think. We're not getting enough time to spend, first let us get used to our schedule, our professions, our living, then we'll discuss on this thing." He ended with a smile.

...

3:30 pm

"Jo! Have you seen my mobile charger?" Decked up in his formal wear, the indulgent man called out.

"I've already placed it in your bag Jalal!"

"Thanks darling!" Jalal stepped out after giving a peck on left cheek of the delightful lady.

"Take care! Call me when you reach home. And don't forget to text me before the flight takes off!" she kept on ordering him. While the astonished man just kept looking at her with wide eyes. Finally after she was over, she glanced at him, "What?" "Nothing!" he said with a wide grin. "She's so endearing. Ordering me just like a winsome wife. Why not? After all she has all rights to do so!" If it'd have been anyone else, the otherwise angry young man would be vexed, but this chick was too amusing. With a big smile adorning his face, the left his sweetheart's home.

6:30 am

"Mmm" Jodha opened her eyes to scan her surroundings. Pitch dark, first sounds nibbling at the edge of stillness, tranquil hour, dew-drenched grass, early light, metal mail slot bangs, morning newspaper hits mat, morning ritual, peace of dawn reluctantly making way for a chaotic new day.

As Jodha prepared a coffee for herself, she stepped out in the verandah and glanced at the sky. "Spreading sunrise, pinkish glow, clouds tinted, colors spread across the sky announcing the new day, oranges and reds painted across the clouds as if by a celestial hand." "Wow Jo! I never knew you can join words so well!" "Thanks Ruks! By the way, I've made coffee for you. Have it! I'll get ready. We've to leave early today!"

...

Dressed in casual salwar-kurti, Jodha sat on the driver's seat. Sabal (Jodha's driver) was ill, thus she had to drive to the sets. Rukaiya didn't know how to drive, Surya left early and Aarav wasn't interested in driving. So she was the only one left.

"Make it fast Ruks! We are going for work, not in any night club!" the irritated girl retorted. It was almost an hour as usual; Rukaiya wasn't done with her makeup.

"God! This girl! I don't understand why she putting on so much of greasepaint over her face!" after Rukaiya sat in Jodha drove to the location.

12:30 pm

On the Sets

The queen stepped inside the royal chambers, annoyed. Taking off the heavy jewellery, she looked at herself in the mirror. "There are 100s of women I've seen who are more ravishing than you! Then, why this pride over your beauty?" She mimicked her irritating hubby. The guards announced the entry of the majesty.

Jodha turned towards the gate and ordered the maids, "Privacy!" and the maids stepped out.

"Cut!" The director yelled.

"Jodha! Take a break!" the satisfied lady smiled at him and went to take a seat near her friends circle. She was about to sit, when the makeup man called her. "Ma'am! You need a touch up." The man went to the makeup room. Jodha excused herself and started following him. Her room was at the backside, facing the woods, where rarely anyone went until they were called out.

She was about to enter inside, when she spotted a man in black running away in haste from there. She too ran behind him. Unfortunately, she was wearing heavy lehenga, which refrained her from running faster. Before she could catch him, he disappeared in the thicket.

"Who was that man? Other that than the ladies and the makeup artists, no man is allowed here. Then who was he? And why was he running. Was he here to do something wrong? I'm sure he is someone from the crew members. Other than them, no one knows that here's a secret way which leads out of the studio.!" I must talk about this to ruks! It's dangerous!" Jodha grew suspicious about the matter. She stood there fixed at her spot, when suddenly someone from the back pulled her from her arm.

BOOM! CLANG! SCREECH!

The hefty cameras which hung up on the ceiling fell down. Thanks to Surya, who pulled her in the nick of time. Otherwise, she would be lying there, drenched in blood! Jodha stuck there, motionless, unable to fathom the scenario. Surya was scandalized, just like the mob around them, but the difference was that he knew what had happened. Jodha was attacked again! Fortunately, this time he saved her, stepping in at the right hour. When he saw her running in the remote area, he knew she was being framed, again.

Hope you enjoyed the update! And I even hope that it was a long one!😆 Please buddy me for pms!😊. Do hit likes if you like it!😃
