You have also effectively highlighted all that is wrong with the show today ...the lost magic. yes Paridhi and Rajat have not let us down but the script writers have...and badly. So I am sorry if I hurt anyones feelings but no I don't want a season two of JA especially if written by the same people and produced by the same PH. Because I truly don't think they have learned from their past mistakes. Some things still hurt Radhika and since you have already mentioned it I wont repeat it. I just want to end this show with pleasant memories of the golden episodes pre Hassan's death.
And BTW why are you bidding farewell? We all intend to follow you and Abhay to which ever forum you move to or atleast on Abhay's blog

Cheers to new beginnings!
Preeti

Preeti dear,

Can i say farewell to you ever? We will keep having our usual convos about MUZ on the blog 😊

I think the decision to end the show here is good when we all still love the show and will carry beautiful memories of it with us. About Season 2, hopefully, the PH learns some lessons from this experience and gets some really good scriptwriters. There is no concept of continuity in India anyway, so they can pick up the story from any point, and carry forward.

Personally, i feel it would be good if the second season ran for a few months only with proper initial research and a pre-decided script. Any show whose script keeps changing with TRPs is destined to doom.

We have also learnt our lessons and no longer expect any historical relevance, except the hope that Jalal, Jodha and other real historical characters are treated with respect and dignity, even in fictional situations.

I have one request only from the fans and the PH. Please do not expect the leads (whoever they may be in terms of both actors and characters) to dominate the proceedings and do everything on their own like James Bond. The leads should have central roles but they should not be like banyan trees under whose shade nothing else can grow. Other characters should also be shown prominently, esp the navratnas.

I do not wish to see a repeat of situations like the one we are seeing presently where the Malika-i-Hind has to dance in front of a group of drunk men and then even visit a lecher in his tent at night, just because she is "bravely looking for her husband". I think the mightiest queen in Hindustan had enough resources at her disposal to trace her missing husband and could equally display her intelligence and courage in leading a more believable and more acceptable search and rescue mission.

In my opinion, the script is the ultimate hero always. Strong actors cannot save a show if the script falters and weak actors can look good too if they are backed by the script.

A case in point is the Salim Anar affair in the show. The two actors are new and have some way to go before they can be called good actors. But they were backed by the script - they had good dialogs, the background music to their scenes was good and the way they behaved with each other was handled in a mature manner.

All the best to whoever chooses to make Season 2. They will have a lot of expectations to live upto if they want to succeed. 😆

PS: Thanks for liking the posts, Preeti 😳

Beautiful, just beautiful collection of songs 👏

My personal favorite among the songs you have mentioned is "tere waste mera ishq sufiyana". It smells fragrantly of pure, divine love in today's commercial and selfish society. I truly believe the love between Akbar and MUZ was nothing short of sufiyana.

Aww, thanks for liking the "trips down memory lane" 😳

The way Jodha was so protective of and caring towards Bakshi Bano, just because she was the sister of her husband, is so beautiful 😊

Remember the scene when Jalal had punished Bakshi Bano to live in seclusion? He was battling his inner pain and anguish when Jodha came from behind and placed a hand on his shoulder, perhaps the first time, in empathy and understanding.

I have to credit the makers with showing the delicate nuances of this special bond in any Indian family - the brother-sister-bhabhi relationship, in a most natural and compassionate manner.

Jalal reciprocated equally by showering brotherly affection on Sukanya and Shivani and getting them both settled.

What are your expectations from a Season 2, if it happens, Charu?

Hello Radhika how are you??? Again a beautiful and vivid pos. You have described each and every sense so perfectly... These posts are really making me emotional 😭 Every phase of Jodha AKbar you have covered so so beautifully. ...I have nothing more to say... But still will add certain aspects of the show which actually made it different...

There are certain aspects of the show which actually made it a Magnum Opus in every sense... It had the same age old story of the hero and heroine hating eachother but eventually falls head over heels in love with eachother... It had nothing new to offer other than the historical backdrop and of course the legendary love story of the great Mughal Emperor Jalal-Ud-Din Muhammad Akbar and His Hindu Wife Mariam Uz Zamani... But the way it was presented made the difference... Till SR everything that was shown was nothing less than a lyrical ballad...where even the feeling of hatred had sweetness in it...

Like I said before the Feeling of Ghrina, Hate or Nafrat was given a touch of sweetness, sweetness of care, support and admiration... For example After Jodha's mother refused to take her back to Amer after Holi.. Jodha went missing from the Palace and Jalal himself went out to search her and when he saw her jumping into the water without a second thought he himself jumped into the water and saved her... Or after the tiger attack when Jodha did everything possible to save her husbands life... Even during those days of hatred they stood by eachother and become eachothers support.. Remember how Jalal stood by Jodha and was even ready to renounce his throne just because he didn't want His wife to change her religion or when In Ratanpur Qilla track Jodha opposed her own family member when they said Jalal should give away his throne, even though she knew this may break Her sisters marriage.. And how can we ever forget Jalal counting and praising all the Hunars of Jodha and even though she shielded her admiration but still praised his courage and valor... Maybe They were able to admire, support and cared for eachother even in those days of Passionate hate only because as Jodha had once said Love or Hatred bothave the feelings comes from heart...

The story of Jodha AKbar had acceptance even in denial or rejection... Even though they didn't truly accepted eachother as Man and Wife but they accepted eachother's family as their own... Jodha respecting, loving and obeying Himada Bano, or playing n spending time with Rahim or Forgiving Bakshi Bano for framing her in fake pregnancy track showed how she accepted his family... Jalal arranging Sukanya's Marriage or taking his entire family to Amer fo. The wedding or when he gifted his beloved Ratanpur Qilla to His Wife's sister showed his acceptance of her family... Not only family but they accepted their religion and culture as well... Jodha accompanying Jalal To Ajmer sharik or Jalal's fulfilling Jodha's oath by bending down In Kali Maa's feet showed how they accepted eachother's religion... Even when they realised their love for eachother they denied to acknowledge it infront of eachother...

There were times in the show when Silence spoke more loudly than words... The Angoori Baagh scene after Jodha revived from Benazir Poison did not have a single dialogue but it still remains I guess everyones favourite... Jalal Jodha did not speak with eachother but still they communicated... Not a single syllable was utterd but still their heart heard everything that was unsaid... Or the night of Shab-E-Kadar in the Atifa track when Jalal sees Jodha from the window sitting and praying with Hamida Bano and Salima was also a scene where Jodha Jalal communicated through eyes... Where on one hand Jodha had questions, hurt, pain and love in her eyes and on the other hand Jalal's eye were pleading Jodha to understand his helplessness and his love for hers... Such a poignant moment it was...

The show had simplicity as well as Magnanimity... On Jodha Jodha's birthday Jalal gave her a Morpank. And Kanaha's Bansuri to the world these gifts were rather simple and yes they were simply but the thought behind gifting it was so magnanimous And only royal couple knew the importance of the gift... Similarly in Jalal's birthday also Jodha gifted Him A simple dress of a common man but what he got by wearing it was priceless... That blessings of Awam was Magnanimous, that realisation of a King's duty was magnanimous...

Another Poignant moment was when Hindu Subjects goes to DEK and gifts their Emperor Quaran-E-Pak to show their gratitude towards the king who has put all the religion in the same pedestal and removed Tirth Kar...then everyone all Muslims as the Hindus prayed together to that one God but in their respective manner.. This is my favourite scene of Jodha AKbar.. This scene still gives me goosebumps. .. I was transported back to Akbar's court where in reality this might have been a regular scene... This scene showed how untied Akbar's subjects were.. This scene made me proud of the glorious pas past our cocountry...this scene did not only gave us a glimpse of Akbar's greatness but also showed the greatness of the common people of that Era... It was so ethereal...

I have always believed that Beauty Lies In Simplicity.. And this phrase was proved right in one of the most important episode of Jodha AKbar... The Episode /Scene where Jalal was honoured by the name of Akbar by his Hindu Subjects... I am so glad that the creatives of the show for making that scene so simple... The reasons which Jalal gave To those two Maulvies were so inspiring and real... The way that old man approached Jalal with the scroll where Akbar was written and that also in both Hindi and Parsi and the humility with which Jalal accepted the name with a promise of continuing to think about the welfare of his Subjects gave a different meaning to this scene... Woww take a bow creatives for writing this scene...

There are many beautiful scenes in the show but these are some of the beautiful and different aspects which according to me made the show different and beautiful...

Sorry for the typing mistakes... Was writing from my phone...

Hi Surochita

I am fine, how are you? It's so good to be talking to you after a long time! 😊

Surochita, I always like your posts for you raise the most beautiful points that others may overlook. I have turned bold some of the best points in your post. Thanks so much for sharing these here. 😊

Surochita, see how you have chosen all the scenes from before the twins' death track? I so wish the CVs read the posts here and realise where they went wrong. The first year had a simple yet strong storyline where significant issues were taken up and it was shown how Akbar and MUZ tackled them in a bid to serve their people well. Sometimes it was about child marriage or sometimes the issue of digging a well or sometimes the issue of communal harmony and equality.

The couple was always gracious, even when they hated each other. They never let that hatred come in the way of taking care of their common extended family or serving the people.

There was simplicity and magnanimity in their gestures and behavior.

The lines in blue - that is what Akbar is remembered for even today - a man who treated all religions equally. So sad this aspect was not developed further.

I want to thank you Surochita for this post because it not only reminds us of what was so beautiful about JA but also what went wrong later - style replaced substance, frivolous plots and romance was added to make up for lack of story ideas, and the people took a back seat. Which is so inherently wrong because if anything, Akbar was a people's emperor. He was more concerned about the welfare of his people than any other Mughal king.

The CVs should get some idea from your post that if they want to make Season 2 then they have to go back to that stage where the story revolved around the Emperor, his Empress and the people, and was not endlessly tied up in harem politics or worse.

Very nice post Abhay!
What to say about Jodha Akbar. I have liked this serial right upto the time of the adult Salim Anarkali entry.
The two main characters and all the supporting actors have done complete justice to their respective roles.
I am probably inthe minority here but I have loved the way Akbar has been portrayed(except in the last few episodes where the romance is really not to my taste). I never found him weak in any way or felt that the credit was snatched away from him to make Jodha appear mahaan. To me it always seemed like they worked as a team be it in the child marriage track or the slavery issue. The pilgrim tax was totally Akabr IMO. That is the thing that endeared him the most to me. The fact that he listened to his wives, be it Jodha, Rukaiyya or Salima. He did not feel that it somehow demeaned his status or made him any less of a man or emperor just because he listened to his wives. Only a strong and confident ruler/ man can do that not a weak and insecure one. Or maybe I just need to watch more EK serials or maybe I am a TRP aunty at heart.😉
There are many many many scenes and dialogues I have liked and many have been mentioned by others already. A few that I remeber off the top of my head:
The soul talk on the first sleepless night that Jalal has when Jodha rejects his farman and tells him that someone who can only snatch from others cannot give her anything.
"Shayad yehi fark hai ek aalim aur ek anpad ki soch mein" I somehow liked that dialogue of Jalal a lot. It shows how introspective he is. That is what made him so likeable. He is aware of his drawbacks. A person who is so self aware will always be a class apart from the crowd.
Mahamanga Jalal Showdown: the whole scene was beautiful. A couple of dialogues that stood out:
"Aap ne humein apna doodh pilaya lekin ek ma ki soch se marhoom rahi"
"Ek ma apne bete se ishq karti hain rushk nahin, woh usey apne kandha deti hain uske kandhe par pair rakhkar apna audha nahin banati"
How profound are these two dialogues!
Rukaiyya-Jalal:
When both of them go down to the prison to kill Jalal's concubine and her lover. I liked this scene because it was one of the first times that we could see how similar Jalal and Rukaiyya were in their ruthlessness. This gave us a glimpse into why Rukaiyya would always be a friend and not Jalal's love.
The chess scene where Ruks gives Jalal advice regarding Adham Khan. Really highlighted Ruks' political smarts.
Jodha-Jalal: Each and every scene. A few that really melted my heart:
1) When Jo wakes up from her coma and hangs on to Jalal's hand. Her love and need for him is so evident. She is so vulnerable. For her he is the only lifeline. There is no one else.
2)By the riverside in Mathura: Jodha finally gets her turn to truly open up her heart and tell Jalal how she feels and why she cannot go back to Agra with him.
3) jo's welcome home party. His love and happiness to have her back, the Krishna re-sthapna that he has arranged for. Everything was perfect in that episode.
I could go on and on and on...
Thisserial may not have followed history for the most part but it certainly got me interested in Akbar as a person. After all what makes a ruler great in the true sense is not how many battles he has won or how much land he has conquered but how he has connected with other people and his subjects. In a time when people were getting slaughtered for being protestants or catholics in Europe, Akbar tried to bring peace and understanding between two totally different religions. What made him great is that he never stopped learning and improving and evolving.

radhikadi so good to have you back after such a long time, and as usual your posts are gems. As for ja season 2, I think they should start with hassan hussain track , where then took leap, then show salim's biirth in more detail and the 9 years that was not shown after salim's birth. These years must be vital for akdha, they had most of their children, did some remarkable social reforms, Jodha entered business and finally became mariam uz zamani. They need to show ruqaiya getting sidelined. And then there's the 7 years that were again not shown after salim was sent to battlefield. Total 5+9+7=21 years were left out of the show, and we really want to see them in those vital years

Radhika,😊 words fall short to describe the beautiful, tender and sensitive tactics that Jodha adopted to get across her views to Akbar, on several occasions.

The Bakshi Bano episode was just one of the several. Her idea to release Sharifuddin from prison as the ultimate gift for the pregnant Bakshi, is really touching. Of course the clean hearted princess had no clue that her brother-in-law was eying her, in an unacceptable manner. Her intentions have always been good and positive. I can never forget how she was instrumental in bringing to light the plight of several 'slaves' both within and outside the palace. Those episodes highlighted the soft, sensitive side of the fiery Rajvanshi princess.

I can go on endlessly about Jodha, Radhika. The smooth manner in which the plot had progressed, prior to the leap, focusing on both the royals interweaving acceptable, believable NR, was simply outstanding.

I had intentionally not touched the topic, with my opinions for the second season of JA, just to avoid upsetting readers with my frank views and end up being termed a negative, offensive, egoistic person, in the process.

To answer your question, unless and until the PH in question, has a proper, experienced set of writers and Creative team, including the director, who can do justice to a historical, in all aspects of production, they should not attempt to start a second run. Whether it is BT or any other PH, they have to be extremely aware that a historical has to be dealt with a certain amount of respect, dignity, and honor, keeping in mind the era and the subjects, in question. Any kind of filmy treatment is unacceptable. They have to be doubly careful not to mess up with depicting royalty especially for the second time.

I am wondering if JA has a second season, which is the best part prior to the leap where the story can restart, the plot flow sensibly, where equal footage is given to all the prime characters where their true qualities come to the fore, and where relationships between the royals is portrayed in a manner befitting their status. Additionally, the PH should also keep in mind that a leap should be taken only if absolutely necessary, that too at a stage when the plot demands it.

I feel the part where Jodha is back to Agra, after the bout of spousal misunderstanding and conveys her love to Jalal would be a good point to resume with a sensible script.
