Restlessly listening to the caller tune, he cut the call as the concerned person didn't take up the call.
"Come on pick up", he murmured.
"Haan Jalal.. what happened? Why are you calling at this odd hour of night?", a sleepy voice resonated from other side as the person picked up the second call.
"Abdul, listen to me. I am so sorry I am disturbing you right now. But you don't have any other option, do you? Need a favour from you yaar.", Jalal sounded worried.
Gauging the restlessness in his pal's voice, Abdul immediately got up . "What happened Jalal? Anything serious?"
"I'll explain everything to you later Abdul. But for now, just do as I say. I am texting you an address. Just go there and collect each and every detail and info available of a person. I am sending you all the details asap. Okay?"
"Ok. Send it", the buddy understood the urgency behind his pal's voice and obliged kindly.
20 minutes later
"Haan Jalal, got her info. Only her name, age, and residential address are given. Nothing else.", Abdul informed his friend.
"Great. Text me her address quickly. And have you talked to the organising team there? Try to collect as much details as you can.", Jalal replied immediately. He was relieved to hear that Abdul had managed to find out the address.
"Haan Jalal I have checked everything here. Talked to the head and other people too. Actually many have left after the event and the ones on night duty have provided this much info. I'll let you know if I find anything else. Ok?"
"Ok. But atleast ye toh bata de what's the matter. I got to know that she received the grant from you in the event. If she's in anyway..ahem.. going to be my bhabhi or something? I haven't seen you as restless as you are right now for a girl, ever. So I am knowing everything right away."
"Shut up Abdul. This is serious. Talk to you later. Bye. Text me the address quickly.", and Jalal cut the call.
Meanwhile Bakshi rushed to Jalal and informed that the only thing of use they could come across in her bag was her phone. Jalal's eyes beamed with elation as he heard that.
"But it's of no use bhaijaan. Her phone is password protected. How are we supposed to contact her family then?", an upset Bakshi said.
The beam on his face died down instantly. Almost everything seemed more and more complicated.
One, the worry that he held for Bakshi's patient before her identity was known, had multiplied manifold after knowing the same, and the reason for this concern towards her that remained oblivious to him made him more restless.
Two, as much as he couldn't stop worrying for his friend Avani, he couldn't favour her mindless act either.
And three, Jodha's family was yet to be informed of the terrible incident.
A second later, his phone vibrated in his hand as a text arrived. Going through the address, he made up his mind to get to her family quickly.
"By the way bhaijaan, her name is Jodha. Jodha Singh", Bakshi informed him.
"Oh.", Jalal didn't know how to react. He already knew that. "How did you get to know that Bakshi?"
Bakshi showed him a cheque which was placed in her palm. "Found this in her bag", she replied. Jalal looked at the cheque and felt a slight hurt within him. "How delighted she looked when she received it.", the thought popped up in his head.
"Oh okay. Nevertheless, Bakshi, I know I don't need to say this to a more than vigilant doctor. But do take care of both of them. I'll be right back.", Jalal started moving towards the Hospital's exit.
"But where are you going Bhaijaan?", Bakshi queried.
"I'll tell you later. Bye", and he dashed away.

"What have you done Avani? In your drunken state, you accidentally hurt yourself and Jodha too and how. God damn it.", Jalal annoyingly swore while driving.
On his way to Jodha's address, Jalal kept contemplating over every detail.
"Jodha's home is this way. So how did Avani end up hitting her?", a sudden fact cracked his thoughts. "Avani's place has a different route from the venue."
"Oh my god. OH MY GOD", a minute later, a very alarming notion floated in front of his eyes.
"The sudden change in her behaviour as she let go of the evening's stupid happenings" "I got some stuff to sort out. I'll manage myself" "Drink and drive" "Accident" "Reduced state of Jodha" ... the loose ends slowly made sense to him now.
"Oh my god", he decelerated his car to let the disturbing facts sink in. "Did Avani.. Did she do this deliberately?", his fist clutching the steering wheel involuntarily clenched tight.
"No Jalal.. Before coming to conclusions, check and confirm for each and every detail yourself.", his faith in his friend made him think that. But the deep uneasiness recalling Jodha's state made him enraged against the faith.
"What to do, what to do?", he hastily thought.
"The first priority is to inform her family. I'll later investigate everything myself.", he determined and drove off to Jodha's place.

Ting. He thrice rang the doorbell of a flat on the 4th floor, but to no avail.
"Probably everyone's asleep. But they need to know this asap.", he banged the door hard while ringing the doorbell simultaneously.
After a gap of 2 minutes, a lady opened up the door rubbing her sleepy eyes.
"Who are you and why are you disturbing right now?", she carelessly spoke in a sleepy voice.
"I am sorry but does Jodha live here?", Jalal immediately asked.
"Jodha?", the lady asked amazed.
"Yes, does she live here? Are you her relative?", Jalal's restlessness only intensified.
"Yes. I am her friend. But how do you know Jodha? And why are you enquiring about her? What happened to her? Tell me now.", getting instantly alarmed by mention of Jodha from an unknown person, the worried friend queried.
"Oh and where are her family members? I will explain everything to you but can you please tell me about her family members? I need to talk to them urgently.", Jalal impatiently asked.
The friend fell quiet instantly. "Will you please tell me where is Jodha? And what happened to her? I am her best friend and I need to know everything right now. As far as I know, she went for a grand show today. And she said she'd be back by late night. Where is she.. TELL ME!", the friend nearly screamed out of fear.
"Haan but her fam..", before Jalal could talk about her family, the friend exploded "Oh god. She doesn't live with her family. Now will you just tell me where is she?"
Taken aback by the latest revelation, Jalal stayed quiet. "I'll take you to her. Come with me.", he asked her to accompany him and she obliged as it concerned her friend.
