Jalal pampered his sister in law a lot, it was only she that he pampered. All the money that he required for doing Swadeshi works used to come from her box. Moti was not only elder to him in relationships but also in age. She was born two or three months before him and for this reason sometimes she used to call him by his name. In this matter Jalal complained a lot to his mother in their childhood.
Moti entered this household at a very young age of eleven years and for this reason she was pampered a lot by all the members. Hamida used to ask smiling, "Acha? Sach me? But this is yours falt bahu, tumne use naam se pukari!"
Moti used to say, "Galti kyun? Main toh usse umar me bohat badi hu."
"Bohat badi? Kitni badi ho?", Hamida used to ask.
"Main baisakh mahine me aur vo bhadra mein."

Hamida used to laugh and say, "Bhadra mahine me hi toh! Main to bhul gayi thi. Iske baad agar bolne aya vo, toh uski kaan khich lungi main."
After losing in mother's court, when Jalal used to go away being angry, the mother in law used to take the daughter in law in her lap and say with a voice full of love, "Baccha hai na isliye samajhta nahi. Devarji kehke pukarne se khush ho jate hai. Kabhi kabhi bulana, ha?"
Moti used to nod her head and answer, "Thik hai maa, kabhi kabhi bulaungi."
That small girl of that day was the housewife of this big mantion today. After being a widow,Hamida used to be busy with her puja and all religion related issues, but still the small request of that day was required for many days In future, like today.
After about fifteen sixteen days of the incident mention in chapter one, one morning Moti entered her brother in law's study room and called, "Devarji.."
Jalal raised his hand to stop her, "Bas bhabi, aur pyar ki zarurat nahi. I'll do."

"Kya karoge?", Moti teased.
"Tum jo hukum karogi. Par ye dada ka bada anyay hai.", Jalal replied.
"Kaha pe anyay hua batao?", Moti asked.
Jalal answered in the same angry tone, "Mujhe pata hai. Kuch der pehle hi dada k ghar ke saamne se aya hu. Andar vo, maa aur tumhare beech jo vi sharyantra ho raha tha maine suna. Un logo k paas himmat nahi hai mujhe aake bolne ka, isliye tumhe bheja. Kitna bada anyay hai ye batao!"
Moti answered chuckling, "Anyay nahi hai. Unhe bohat ache se pata hai ki unke bolte hi jawab ayega, mere paas marne k bhi fursat nahi hai- par bhabhi k hukum ko todne ka himmat jalal me nahi hai."
Jalal nodded his head, "Yehi pe mera mushkil, aur yehi pe unka zor. Lekin kya karna hai?"
Moti said, "Maa kailash darshan pe jayengi, aur tumhe unki saath jana hai."
Jalal thought for a small time, "Do teen mahine se kam nahi hoga. Kaam ka kitna loss hoga sochi hai bhabi?"
Moti accepted and said, "Kuch loss to hoga, par ek nayi jagah bhi dekhne ko mil jayega. Ise loss to nahi kehte."

Jalal said, "Jab tum keh rahi ho toh mana nahi karunga, saath chalunga. Par maa ne jo usdin dada ko itne aasani se boli mere padhai ka kharcha bandh karne ke lie."
Moti said laughing, "Vo to usne gusse me keh diya. Par jisne hukum dia vo maa hai, is baat ko kabhi mat bhulna."
"Nahi bhula. Par usdin se soch lia main akela insaan, kabhi shaadi nahi karunga. Agar zarurat pade to bacche padhake khaunga, par inke estate se ek paisa bhi kabhi nahi mangunga."
Moti answered laughing, "Paise maangne k zarurat nahi honge, vo aise hi ayenge. Aur agar nahi bhi aya toh bhi tumhe bacche padhane k zarurat nahi, kam se kam mere zinda rehne tak toh nahi."
It's not that Jalal didn't know this, but still his eye lashes grew heavy, but he controlled himself quickly and asked, "Kab jana hai? Dekho aakhir mujhe hi saath jana pad raha hai. Aur ek din maa ne hi kaha tha k vo mujhe leke baikuntha tak bhi nahi jayenge. Ise hi kehte hai irony of fate! Hai na?"

Jalal said, "Vo jo bhi ho, unhe kaho shanti se rehne - main tumhari hukum ki nafarmani kabhi nahi karunga."
Moti smiled slightly and said, "Tum chinta mat karo. Vo log nischit hai. Ghar se nikalte hi tumhare dada ka uchi awaz kaan me aya. Maa ko bol rahe the chinta na karne. Keh rahe the ki jise bheja gaya hai ye karya karne k liye, uske saamne tumhara naa nahi chalega."
Jalal kept quiet for sometime in extreme anger and at last said, "Mana nahi kar paunga, ye baat jaante hi agar usne tumhe bheja hai, aur ye meaningless khayal ko mujhe pura karna pad raha hai, toh phir tum dada se keh dena k iske liye unhe sharminda hona chahiye."
Moti said, "Bol ke kuch nahi hoga devar ji, zamindar hoke jo apne praja ka khoon choosta hai, ye unki riwaaz hai. Apne kaam ko karwane mein inke koi sharm nahi hai. Itne wealth k aadha hissa ka maalik hoke bhi jab tum inke estate k paise lene se sharmate ho, tab mujhe dard k saath khushi bhi mehsoos hoti hai."

Moti said after a short pause, "Tumhare naam leke maine maa se wada karke ayi hu, k unke saath tumhe bhejungi. Ache se teerth karke lauto, jitni bhi nuksaan hoga, uska bharpaayi main kar dungi."
Hearing her words, Jalal silently left his seat and touched her feet to take her blessings.
Moti said, "Itni der toh sirf kisi aur k liye
bol rhi thi, ab apni ek khwaish hai".
Jalal chuckled a bit, "aapki apni khwaish? Vo shayad pura na kar
paungi main. "
Moti herself chuckled hearing his
answer, "Namumkin nahi hai devarji.
Darr hai mera ki kahi agar aap sunke
na kar do toh."
"Thik hai. Kehke hi dekho", replied a
smiling Jalal.
Moti said, "As you know, I've an uncle
who has given up his caste - khoon ka
rishta nahi, Papa k cousin, - vo
England gaye the. Tab agar ye baat inn
logo k kaano me pahuchti toh aaj main
iss ghar mein bilkul nahi hoti. Maa se
ye baat suni hogi tum?"
"Itni baar suna hu k din mein agar ek
baar leke ginti kare toh bhi in pandra
solah saalo me paanch che hazar ho
jayenge!"

Moti laughed, "Mujhe vi vohi lagta hai.
Kaka rehte hai Bombay mein. Unke ek
beti hai, vohi pe padhai karte hai. Agle
saal vo England jayegi padhai khatm
karne. Tumhe usse meri paas lana
hai."
Jalal asked, "Kaha se? Bombay?"
"Ha. Usne likha hai k wo khud aa sakti hai. Par itni lambi raasta use akeli ane dene ka man nahi karta hai mera.", Moti replied.
"Unhe yaha pahuchane ka koi nahi hai?", Jalal asked.
"Nahi.. Kaka ko chutti nahi mila.", she said.
Jalal couldn't instantly agree, he continued thinking. Moti continued to say, "Jab meri shaadi hui thi, tab vo saat aat saal ki bacchi. Uske baad sirf ek baar mila hu usse Kolkata mein, tab vo Mattrik pass karke I.A. padh rahi thi - vo bhi toh kitne saal ho gaye. Main usse bohat pyar karti hu devarji, agar ek baar jaake use mere paas laogi toh mujhe bohat khushi hogi. Vo bhi yaha aana chahti hai, cheetthi mein likhti hai par kabhi laane ka fursat nahi mila."
