Chapter 3
"Devendar Prasad Ji, Pranam." Sheetal greeted the renowned professor over the phone.
Devendar smiled and replied, "Pranaam Sheetal. I was expecting Aastha today"
"Ji, actually she fell sick on her way towards university. So I asked her to come back home immediately"
"Oh my god! Is she alright?"
"Yes Devendar Ji. Nothing serious, She has headache though."
"Oh Okay. Take care Sheetal. She is one of my best students ever." Devendar sympathized.
"Ofcourse. Actually, I wanted to say that, we are leaving to Rajasthan for the vacation.. Aastha won't be able to see you for a while" Sheetal informed him.
"Okay.. that's alright. You guys enjoy. That girl has become a nerd, she needs fresh air!" Devendar laughed. Sheetal chuckled, "I agree on that. Anyway, I will ask her to call you as soon as she gets up okay?" Sheetal said.
"Yeah Yeah sure. Have a safe journey and enjoy!"
Sheetal placed the receiver back and let a sigh. Her daughter doesn't have to worry about her research for a while. She can enjoy her holidays and Sheetal made a note of it to take her to meet Vaidehi..

"Wake up sweetheart" Sheetal pecked on Aastha's forehead.
Aastha groggily opened her eyes, "What time is it? Shit! Did I sleep long?"
"No darling. Here have some milk.."
Sheetal smiled as Aastha gulped down the contents of the glass in one go.
"Mamma, are we going anywhere?" Aastha asked eyeing at the luggage in her room.
"yes, to Rajasthan. Oh, I didn't tell you yet?"
"Oh My God! Really Mamma!?? Im sooo excited!!" aastha chirped almost dropping the glass out of her hand.
Sheetal shook her head with a smile. "yes sweetheart. Early morning flight tomorrow. Now, get ready and come down for durga pooja." Sheetal lovingly stroked Aastha's head and exited the room.
Aastha grinned wide and jumped around excitedly. She beamed, jumped, twirled and finally fell back on the bed. Hugging her favorite doll she smiled again,

"What am I hearing? You are leaving to Kishangad tomorrow?" Aastha's best friend Niveditha said.
Niveditha had come home to check on Aastha's health. "yes yes Nivi.. I am sooo happy" Aastha twirled her around and both sat on the couch panting.
"Gosh! I can see that. Tell me about Kishangad."
"I have my Maamaji, Maamiji and..."
"And.. Someone whom I have never seen probably.."
"What? How can that happen?" Nivi asked confusedly.
"I never got a chance. He went to Us, we shifted to delhi. After coming to Delhi, I have hardly seen any of them!!"
"Who is he?"

"Veer! Array Ganga, Open the door.. Check if veer is home! His flight had to reach by now.." Anandi, Veer's mother screamed from the small temple inside their Haveli to her maid Ganga.
"Maalkin, Baba has come!!" Ganga yelled back as she spotted the heir of Vardhan Clan climbing out of the lavish car. It was already late in the evening, the whole Haveli was getting ready for evening Aarthi.
Both in Aastha's house and Veer's house, Pooja were done in regular basis to Goddess Durga, twice a day; morning and evening.
While Veer was greeted by his Grandfather, Grandmother, and every other maids of the house, he was desperately waiting to see his mother, who was busy performing pooja.
Upon hearing his footsteps towards the mandir, she smiled and performed the aarthi excitedly. She turned around to find Veer, and her In-laws standing infront of her.
Anandi smiled with tears in her ears upon seeing her after few weeks. Veer had spent most of life in US, only recently he had returned to India and had been in constant trips to different places for his photo graphy craziness. Anandi had a fear she would run back to US again.
"Veer!" She hugged him giving Aarthi Thaali to her mother-in-law. "I am so happy to see you Kunwar ji. Why do you keep leaving me haan?" She pouted.
He chuckled and turned around "Isssh.. Maa.. would I want to go to hell for leaving you? No way!!"
Anandi laughed, "Dramebaaz! Come on, its time for final Aarthi.."
Everyone stood infront of Durga Ma, as the eldest woman of the Haveli, performed the Aarthi.
Veer, with a content smile bowed before the Goddess. Anandi was happy to have him back. The eldest man of the Haveli, was also happy to see their kids all hale and healthy.

Aastha closed her eyes with devotion and prayed to goddess Durga "I am so happy to go to Kishangad. I don't know what to ask you anymore. Thank you for everything Durga Ma!"
Rest of her family, her mother and her grandmother, her father, prayed their own prayers. Her mother prayed that let her daughter be healthy and get rid of all those nightmares. Her father was asking the goddess to keep his family happy and rich. Her grandmother was asking Durga Ma to keep her family out of evil eyes.
Far from all this, there was one more small house in Kishangad, where Arjun, his little sister Avni were sitting on terrace and grazing the sky. They could hear the bells ringing from the Mandir, it was the time of evening pooja, the sound of Aarthi was audible to the whole town.
"Bhai sa.. why am I feeling that this Navratri is going to be different for all of us?" Avni asked with a sigh.
Arjun frowned, "I feel the same too.. Let's see.."
"Hmm!"

In Vardhan House, there was one person missing the Aarthi. Veer frowned for not finding her anywhere near.
"Ma. Where is Maya?" Veer asked.
"Oh.. she was so angry with you, you know.. I think she went to cottage. You know she keeps going there everytime she is angry with you" Anandi replied.
"Why is she angry with me? Aisa kya kia humne?" Veer frowned. That girl was one big example for Confusion!
"You didn't meet her last week when you had come. And you left the very next day to delhi. You didn't even tell her that you were coming today. What did you expect?"
Veer rolled his eyes. See? He was right. That girl was nuts. But she was his best friend too.
He excused himself and went to find her. The cottage was just few kilometers away from the haveli, beside small lake.

"Itna Gussa Sehat ke liye accha nahi hai" Veer quipped as he found Maya sitting on the roof top.
"Hmph!" she turned her face away from him.
"Uff! Ab humse baat bhi nahi karegi?"
"No No No!"
"But you just spoke to me
"No you didn't!" Maya grounded.
"See? You didn't again!" Veer pointed.
"Ugh! Veer. Stop talking to me!"
"No way! You are my best friend!" Veer pulled her cheeks.
"Hmph! No, you don't consider me as your best friend. You wouldn't do this if you did!!"
"Sorry na.. You know, I got internship from mentor. You know how much I love photography. That's why I had leave right away!"
"Then why didn't you tell me you where coming today? Huh?" Maya sniffed.
"Um.. Sorry!! Bul Gaya yaar."
"See? I you don't care for me at all!!" Maya sniffed again.
Veer chuckled and gave her a box full of Cadburys chocolates. She grinned wiping her tears. "Sorry Na..?" he asked holding his ears.
She smiled and immediately pulled the box full chocolates for herself. She hugged him tight, "You are awesomeVeer! And Chalo, Kishangad ki kunwar ji ko Maaf kardi meine!"
"Haha Thank you!!" Veer replied hugging her back.
They stared at the stars in the sky.

"Kunwar Veer, Come down soon, I think they reached!" Anandi yelled descending down stairs followed by her in-laws.
Veer came out his room and walked down stairs. Not that he wasn't excited, he had mixed feelings. For he knew his parents had found his bride and she was coming today. He knew, the girl had no idea about their parents secret plans, but he did. He didn't know whether to be happy or sad or angry. He wanted to see the girl first. He knew he wasn't given any choice but to marry a Royal. What if that girl was his destiny?
He stood there dumbfounded as he saw the girl who had snatched his keys and made his mind go through different kind of emotions, stood infront of him along with his family. She beamed at his mother, grandfather, grandmother and took all their blessings.
When they faced each other, she was shocked. Was the world so small?
"And that's Veer. Veer Vardhan Singh. My only son!" Anandi introduced.
"This is Aastha, Sheetal's daughter!"
Aastha and Veer stared at each other as their hands folded into Namasthe.

Someone had asked me whether Veer and Aastha is Paridhi and Rajat, YES! they are. I will update Character List very soon, because there will be lot of characters considering of the two lives they have lived! š
