I know people are having serious debates on the current state of the show ... but for how much effort and thinking CVs put into this show, I think there are some things that just cannot be explained.
They needed to explain Chittor ... so created a three year long rift between Jodha-Jalal. Make sense? No.
They could not find any more reasons to create MU for Jodha-Jalal (Hussain's death one itself was a huge stretch) ... and so they made the leap. Make sense? No.
They needed to create new villains for the new generation ... so they introduced Adham's son. Make sense? No.
They needed a new Maham Anga so they made Ruquaiya beyond repair ... Make sense? No.
It would be hard to create sibling rivalry if all the kids were raised by Jodha ... so they introduced one of the sons as Salima's ... Make sense? No.
One thing"on Salima-Murad, I plan to wait it out ... as none of the theories quite make sense and I do not trust the Zee man. In any case, my reactions will depend on how it is shown.
So, all the things that make no sense from a love story perspective make total sense if you think about it from the sense of drama-creating MUs, revenge, rivalries, etc. And that is what Balaji, and most tv serials, thrive on. It is the name of the game. They do not create epic love stories they create epic dramas.
However, I think now they have created the drama storm they wanted to ... I think we actually may get some good Jodha-Jalal scenes ... so I am trying to enjoy the diamonds in the rough.
And I imagined how Jodha would react seeing this Natkiya Rupantrafied version of her love story ... I would imagine she would be livid and how she would call the Zee man so here goes:
Zee Man: Hello, this is Zee TV.
Jodha: This Jodha Begum.
Zee Man: Oh great, we have enough crazy fans from India Forums, now there is one that calls herself Jodha Begum
Jodha: No, this is the real Jodha Begum ... her soul, the one that you often write good dialogues for and then forget about them when you write the actual dialogues for Jodha and Shehenshah.
Zee Man: Oh, aren't you honored we have created a show to immortalize you and Jalal?
Jodha: Call him Shehenshah. Immortalize? Is this some way to immortalize someone? Me and Shehenshah supported each other so much after Hasan and Hussein's death ... what anuchit things did you show with Shehenshah blaming me? Shehenshah never blamed me!
Zee Man: Madam, that is why we have the disclaimer we are not holding true to history ... we needed the rift to explain Chittor.
Jodha: All kings have to wage wars ... and sometimes it ends up being extreme. If you don't have the conviction to show it properly ... then do not show it. What other war did you show to show this one?
Zee Man: Well ... we wanted to show such a milestone in history ...
Jodha: In this way? What about giving more time for all his reforms and good things Shehenshah did? Those you skip in one day. You made the Hindu Tax abolished as a catfight between me and Ruquaiyya Begum ... Chiii.
Zee Man: Well ... they do not create drama otherwise. But you must appreciate, we even had a special Mirchi War for you ...
Jodha: That was nice ... and I was a brave woman so I would have fought for isthree like that ... but why did you have to show Shehenshah so weak and in chains at that time... he could have just been fighting elsewhere.
Zee Man: We never thought people would feel so bad ... it just adds to the drama factor as you wonder how Jalal would be saved.
Jodha: Treat him with respect ... he is Shehenshah. When will you ever realize , you cannot hurt people for your own benefit?!? All the poor viewers of Jodha Akbar are having so much stress because of you all and because of that they are talking ill about me and Shehenshah. Can't you let us be in peace now?
Zee Man: Well ... stress leads to TRPs ... what can we do
Jodha: Are you going to show Shehenshah and I have another misunderstanding because of Salim? You better not as it never happened.
Zee Man: Well ... I don't have the CVs script yet on this one.
Jodha: Well, I am warning you... we had some challenges raising Salim... but Shehenshah and I addressed it together
Zee Man: Oh okay
Jodha: And what is this whole issue with Murad?
Zee Man: What about him?
Jodha: Whose son are you going to show him as?
Zee Man: The CVs have not decided yet (which I think truly is the answer BTW 😆)
Jodha: Oh great (sarcastically ... yes this Jodha has sarcasm) ... well decide soon, people are making crazy stories. But let me make it clear ... I completely understood and accept Shehenshah's relationships with others ... our love was above all of that so please show something sensible.
Zee Man: We will try Madam ... sensible is never really a criteria for our scripts , only TRPs are.
Jodha: Who cares about your TRPs? Your TRPs will last only for a few weeks or months ... but the love story of me and Shehenshah has lasted centuries. Now, tell us which is greater? 👏
(And Jodha puts down the phone as she knows Zee is beyond hope 😆)
I don't know why ... a thought I felt like penning. Hope you enjoyed it.
