But Adi
Have you watched 'En Bommukkutti Ammavukku' remade from a Malayalam Movie?
Here a couple lose their child and after a lot of trauma decide to adopt a child. In a short time they soon grow into a loving family, when the original mother of the child comes back into the picture in an unstable state of mind and her family who separated the baby from her want the child whom she recognises back to cure her. The first reaction of the adopted mother and father, who are both educated, broad minded and modern is to pack their bags and decide to leave the town, lest the child is distanced from them...
Today I found Ruqaiyya's reaction natural if not appreciable. Today she didn't smirk about the MUZ title, even in her mind...it was only mentioned by green begum. She was not noble or great but she was a mother. If she had wanted Hussein only for the title, she would have hit him, pinched him when he cried too much or scolded him in private when she was alone with him. But she had been taking good care. Though she had wanted the child originally for a shared title, she might have developed a bond with the child after having been with him a month.
Jalal says 'kuch waqt'. But how long would be kuch waqt. It would be as painful for Jo or doubly painful for her to return Hussein after that 'kuch waqt'. That time would never come. The child may by then develop a bond with the real mother and be lost to Ruku forever.
Atleast Jodha has Jalal with her as a solid rock, but Ruqaiyya doesn't have him either.
Again I repeat, I don't appreciate Ruqaiyya's lack of nobility. Jo in similar circumstances would have offered to give the baby herself. But perhaps not if she didn't have her husban's love as a rock solid support.
Ruku has not YET committed any punishable offence or crime. But well she may. If she does she deserves every punishment, but so far, we can only call her mean not a criminal.
