Hi Friends,
I'm relatively new to this forum. So whatever I'm saying could have been discussed before but since I didn't get an opportunity to put forth my views before I wished to share my perceptions on JA's journey.
Since the journey even is about hate turning to love I too would like to go upon over this from my POV.
For me Love and hate share a common denomination-Passion. Without Passion you could never truly hate or love a person. Sometimes the hate is clouded by the negative traits like Jealous, Greed and turns it to an obsession which wholly consumes that individual and destroys them like in case of Maham or Ruq. That's y scholars advise us to " the one who harm us and then try to work for justice as a whole and not just for our own cause (because obsession has the power to even consume an otherwise good person and destroy them) which is the very quality I find endearing in our leads.
In some, Like Jo and Jalal life gives us an opportunity to see the other side of the coin and make us realize our roots of hatred are misplaced and at this moment the very hate turns to love. The fascinating aspect of their characterization is not just their qualities but the various insecurities and fear displayed which make them refreshingly human and help us to connect.
From Jalal's side the moment he saw her he had a certain pull towards her. But then two things happened. He was impressed on her for saving Abdul, but the very next moment she says she wants the head of Jalal. The warrior is him sees a challenge and accepts it immediately and want to defeat and conquer the opposition. Yet the human in him earns for surrendering himself to the object of his love. Maham here asks a valid question "If you want her y don't you just make her daasi and keep her.Why begum that too giving into all her conditions". If what he has felt is just a challenge and if only he had truly wanted to defeat her he could have very well done just that, but these unknown chords that are pulling him, wants her to be his equal and then defeat her .He doesn't understand her undue hatred towards him and so believe it as her arrogance and want to conquer it. Then comes his change of heart when he understood the reason behind her hatred and that very moment by bowing to kaali ma he surrenders to his love.
This is the moment for Jo too as this gesture helps her to see a different jalal and her hate begins to crumble and completely dissolves at the moment he gives that fort to sukanya. The following tent scene is beautifully choreographed as it shows their changing dynamics. Why should Jo react that extremely that day? Only her changing feelings affect her so much that she couldn't understand y is she beginning to be attracted to very person she hated and tries to run far from it.
Then come the dhakka scene which beautifully again portrays their conflicting emotion. For me personally till to date that was one of the beautifully choreographed and emoted episode. In jalal's dream we again see him repeating now he had finally defeated and conquered her. Yet when he come in reality, he say "I bow before your Love" shows his earning for surrendering himself to his love.
It is a poignant moment for Jo too. She clearly said she doesn't hate him anymore but yet it is hard for her to accept she has started loving him as the fear instilled in her by maham and ruq that once he
Conquers her she will become one another .Before she would not have worried about it, but now with her changing mind this fear has its deep roots. If we see in that episode too until the moment he said "YOUR LOVE" she has been perfectly ok .that word brought back the fear she long held. I have often wondered would her reaction been the same if he had simply said "I Love you and need you". So often we never express our true feeling on the fear of rejection as it's the most painful thing to bear.
I feel these insecurities and fears are always a part of us and this only helps rekindle the passion in love and makes the relation stronger as we witnessed in jalal in sujamal's scenario and in Jo's case the Atifa track
These are simply my perceptions and I might even be wrong in some areas .so I would be very interested if you all could share your perceptions too.
