I was waiting for Maham death scene for long with anticipation
I had liked Akbar's reaction to BK death and Atagah death(though Atagha too looked at bit too much in public) although Akbar mouning hm in hamam was brilliant
From what I have read of Akbar in history he never revealed his inner emotions to anyone. All would be guessing is he sad, angry or what? basically he maintained a stiff upper lip in public
What went wrong in the death scene?
First off I disliked that Maham was being carried publicly away when Akbar and all knew that she is about to die. Why? Just let her die peacefully in her hojra/palace where she has lived for past 10-12 years ever since Humayun came back to agra. The fact that Akbar ordered her removal to delhi left a sour taste in my mouth although Maham is a villan and has done many things against Akbar even assassination attempts.
So Akbar could have visited her on death bed in sukoon inside her palace not in public. You know even doctors when they know a person may not live send one person inside at a time to speak in privacy why? Because some things are too private to be made public. But Maham's death scene became a public spectacle.
I would appreciate if Akbar would have visited her alone in her palace in privacy and they would have spoken removed all the bitterness Maham had against him in private. This death scene looked quiet cheap and public to make any human emotional about it. With 500 people staring at a mother-son they had to share their thoughts. That was not right at all.
Secondly Akbar could have cried less, no lori, no many dialogues just expressed his pain at losing his badi ammi so soon and told her how much he respects, cares and loves her. Again this could not be done because of the public gathered there and the public spectacle. Maham talked too much and too strongly for a dying human. Akbar cried much more than required or expected of an emperor in public.
Jodha was unnecessarily praised sky high and saluted. I guess this Akbar putting maham in prison, his not going to meet her etc all was done to show Jodha as mahaan. There is no relevance of jodha in maham life in history. Jodha was hardly married 3-4 months when adham killed and maham died. Neither maham would get time to make saazish on her neither they would have any relationship. Only Akbar went and met maham on death bed and he would have carried her body till fort gate as per history. What transpired when Akbar met her on death bed is again not known as it was in private and rightly so.
After watching yesterday show my family believe that Akbar survived and became great only because of Jodha else he would be killed long back and was a good for nothing ruler anyways who required wife handholding and training to run empire. Now no matter what viewers who have no knowledge of real history will take all this as truth only anyways. So two-three generations of viewers are being taught false history.
Too many cooks spoil the broth and yesterday the death was spoiled by too many people crowding around maham and a death spectacle in public.
