Navri and her eternal victimisation
JALALJalal was an animal awoken from his slumber - an animal who was rudely woken up to find half his family demolished by another predator. They say a man guarding his family, his house and his horse is ten times more powerful than a warrior - it is true. I don't mean to say Jalal is any less of a warrior than Adham Khan. However, he was a warrior unprepared today. There were two blinded madmen in the battlefield today. One who was already raring to go and the other totally unprepared. One twice the size of another. Yet, Jalal was unstoppable - because, the strongest pillar of his administration and the closest male support to him was unfairly felled today. Had he not forgiven Adham one too many times, this would never have happened. Hence, the rage, the guilt and the grief of losing his father overcame him like it did at no other time. What an episode 👏
Yes it was amazing ... and Jalal was indeed like an animal and him attacking from the back was evidence of that. I remember the last scene of the movie Virasat / Devar Magan - Anil Kapoor / Kamal Haasan said the same thing to the villain ... you made me an animal like you to be able to destroy youJALAL VS ADHAMThe fight sequences (except for the slow-motion falling from which there's possibly no escaping) were a treat to watch. The scene where Jalal slices Adham's back and the scene where he takes the large vase in his hand to bring it down upon Adham's head were very powerful. Obviously, the throwing down of Adham was terrible - it had far more of an impact than it did in the movie. I never had to cry in the movie - I couldn't stop crying here. I didn't cry even during the mazhar sequence, but I did today! What an episode 👏I never realized how far a wasted talent Chetan is till I watched him today. The man can act more than just like a drunk skirt-chaser. His menacing bloody looks even as he sees death in the face is a treat to watch. What a culmination. I do wish they'd utilized his real plotting instead of ridiculous tracks like MC-Haider and Khyber!
Yes the fight sequences were amazing and hats off to Chetan ... he shows spikes of brilliance - they could have definitely used him more consistentlyATGAHAtgah's last minute thoughts were pure and soulful - well thought and pragmatic - just like a warrior - doing as much as he can to save his nation/king and people till the very last breath!
Yes, hats off to Atgah!Even the Khwaja Shera's scenes made me choke! Rallying the good to fight the bad always has this 'hair-stand-on-end' effect on the audience, doesn't it? What an episode 👏
Yes, it was amazing .. and completely from historyTHE HAREMPurely from a practical point of view - The biggest distractions in today's episode (which otherwise was a REAL part of history) - an episode that should have only been Emperor Vs arch enemy - a MAN's episode - were the womenfolk. Really, why were they even there watching all that? Like how Salima Begum took Rahim away, the rest of the women should have gone inside. HB should have taken a pregnant Jodha away and that would have helped avoid the unpleasantness that many are feeling with the episode and with her reactions. While my jury on Jodha's reactions are still out in the open, I would like to point out that Jodha's reactions in the episode/promo are not like those of Aishwarya's in the movie. They are more prominent and Indian-Serial kind of dramatized here. The CVs could have done away with this drama in the midst of real raw drama between Adham-Atgah-Jalal-MA! This aftermath of this track will definitely involve Akdha - but today and tomorrow itself is/was not meant to be an Akdha Track. I wish the CVs didn't force it that way and kept it raw and real. This would have avoided the mixed reactions from the crowds.Other way around, I also wish Jalal hadn't gone to a pregnant Jodha in that state. Much as he needs support, solace whatever - this wasn't a 'Jodha Begum' moment. This was a moment of a man's self-introspection and grieving. He lost his father, he lost his brother, he lost his mother within the span of a few days. I wish he'd just cleaned away the blood, thrown away his blood-stained sword, shut himself away from everyone and waited in solitude - allowing the more 'steeled' of his begums to approach him after a day or so!
I think the harem was a witness to it was true to history .. . and fine. It also reflected how shocked they were to see this side of Jalal. I think Jodha's dialogues were random and unnecessary.
In the precap- I am not commenting on either Jodha-Jalal. I am not sure why Jalal went there ... but one thing is, he might have needed Jodha to cleanse himself. He was not feeling himself at that moment.JALAL-MANevertheless, the real drama was what happened between Jalal and MA and Rajat and Ashwini. (I could almost witness Rajat bidding his favourite actress, Ashwini Kalsekar a farewell today)All of MA's talks were a desperate mother's hypocritical versions of what happened (since we cannot overlook the fact that Adham's imperial ambitions were fuelled to a large extant by MA's own ploys and powerful-hungry tactics that lasted right until a week ago) Yet, I don't blame her. She loves Adham more than her life - but, she doesn't want Jalal dead either. Very realistic and believable villain!MA's entire fear-filled tirade was a twisted form of an emotional blackmail caused by a mother's failing hope 'Adham is an idiot, but he wouldn't have gone too far.. he couldn't have gone too far.. punish him.. but, spare his life too.. you've done so all these days.. you'll do so today too..you're kind-hearted - he's not..so, I trust you my son to mete fair justice, whom I love more than most!'Jalal's entire ten minute look of silence only read one thing 'I tried... I tried my best... but I couldn't save my father... I couldn't save your son... I probably failed... forgive me for this one deed, Badi Ammijaan! But, if you've lost one so dear to you, so have I and this is life!'
Beautiful, beautiful! And yes, you have interpreted Jalal's silence in a way only you can! 👏And what a beautiful description that Rajat was giving a farewell to Ashwini. What an episode indeed! 👏
Divya Superb mind blowing episode .. Jalaal (RT) was just superb from the moment he heard Atgah death and the way he fighted with AK and BRutal killing throwing his 3 times, Chetan was fantastic in that scene.
But for me MA, Ashwini stole the show the moment she entered seeing Jalaal her cry & rant that AK was wrong in killing, she wants to see her son alive for the sake of Javeeda, the moment she saw javeeda in white clothes that devastating pain 😭 she couldn't bear it..
Today I cried seeing Ashwini acting , I am so moved seeing MA pain, it's really outstanding 👏

Even God takes Narasimha Avatar to kill evil. Jalal is a king afterall. And AK is pure EVIL and deserved the kind of death he got. If not for anything, only to serve as a lesson for the others with an evil bent of mind. When we accept the painful and pitiful vadh of men like Karna and Bhishma to uphold dharma, to make good win over evil, what is wrong in Jalal punishing AK the way he did?
Does Jodha read only the Bhagawad Gita? Not the rest of Mahabharat?
Splendid epi and equally splendid write up divya , u r becoming seasoned writer my dear 👏 .
Thanks!
After watching the epi u feel drained out completely . The jalal we saw today was some thing different , kudos to rajat , he is one gem of a actor , may god bless him with many opportunities .the dead look , that body language , his rage was gone , his anger was gone what was left was void , he showed that perfectly. Ashwini -we all know she is a fab actor , we are going to miss her. The way she showed shifting of emotions ufff, u feel her pain with her
And the amazing acting of Jalal and Ashwini is what drained us!
. And reference from akbarnama was icing on cake divya 🤗 .
Thank you!
What can we add in this beautiful post , but Lashy -the word smith and adi can spice up things here . Waiting for their res.
Lashy is unreserved without telling us 😆
Thank u divya for this beautiful post , I know u r busy but never stop writing dear , ur take five has become caffeine of my life , I need it every morning.
Thanks, it means a lot!
Narsimha Avatar was well 2 eons, thai is yugs before Mahabharat. I was just quoting from 2 contexts.Originally posted by: Rashmi81
When did Narshimha became part of Mahabharat.I think it's another roop of Vishnu.
Reshmi, yes I totally agree with you. JO don't want that brutal death, infact HB would have taken back JO a pregnant women from there just like Salima taken away Rahim..
JO is hell shocked and scared, it's first time she is seeing this side of Jalaal who came with blood stained clothes and hands.. I am waiting for full episode..
Divi,
I was awed by the episode.
Me too!It was brilliantly executed, with RT and Ashwini wowing us. Man this is one talented duo, who manage to keep us hooked through the mundane tracks, and the fact that Maham will exit soon, gets me all nostalgic.
Agreed!Anyways, here are the things I liked -1. Atgah saab - The finaly prayer was seriously moving. I can imagine he must have felt really disappointed during his final moments, the Shahenshah he'd sworn to protect was unprotected without him, and the danger was looming on him every minute.
Yes, what an encore to his farewell2. Jalaal - He was brilliant in each and every scene, but the way in which he kept reminding Adham of his crimes before flinging him down each time was chilling. he remembers everything. The sword fight was also brilliant, the fact that he preferred to fling the vase at him to stun him when he lost his sword for a moment. Today we actually saw the Jallad.
Yes, the Jallad indeed ... but good point on his memory3. Maham - Beautiful.Right from her plead her jailers to let her out to warn Jalaal, her realization on watching Javeda in white. Even while she was talking to Jalaal about Adham, she was delirious. Her eyes were to die for. They already knew Adham was gone forever, but she refused to believe, finally when she saw Javeda, she realised that what she knew deep down was true. The way she released herself from Jalaal's hug, took a few drops of blood from Jalaal's neck, looked at it, said Adham and fainted. Class Act! 👏
Amazing!Man! Ashwini is probably one of the most under-rated actresses of Bollywood, given the last time I remember seeing her in a movie was Golmaal 3 as Kareena's friend. Tsk tsk!
Yes, she is underrated ... she was better in Golmaal 2 though 😉By the end of it my face was like Gulbadan Beghums.
What does that mean?I hope the precap is just an edited scene, and there's more to follow, else my disillusionment with Jodha will continue.
Let's wait and watchBy the way TM telling the ladies to go in was a tad late, they had already seen the worse.
TM is like the police man that shows up late in every Indian movieRuqaiyya looked like she had seen what she had feared in Jalaal.
IndeedThanks for the Akbarnaama excerpts, now MA as cupola of chastity was amusing...
Yes- an interesting reference.Awesome post! You referred to RT as Jalaal? 😆
Today- RT and Jalal were one and the same to me
