I wrote this scene with a different intention it was not to highlight jo's upbringing

Salim is lonely he has no friends no one respects him or loves him in his age group

Khannum is the first one in his age group to love and respect him so that is why he loves khannum so much

Its like a person in desert even a drop of water makes him so happy same way khannum and her friendship makes Salim very happy

and then there is the twin soul connection with his sister salim may not know khannum is his sister but his soul knows it and the elder brother in him is naturally protective of his small sister even if that means buzzing off the Shahenshah or anyone else
