Hi Mansi,
Absolutely divine review! đ
I had hoped in my post on your Fri episode thread that Ruq should come over the following morning and watch Jalal in Jo's bed. It would make up for all the tears my Jo has shed because of Ruq. And it really happened (or will happen today). I am so thrilled.
A lot of things a lot of our friends had said are happening and it really makes me satisfied. Kshiti and Kaana had said Ruq must see with her own eyes how close JJ are. And she couldn't have found a better moment to witness their coming together than this. Even her faking the arrival of a waaris couldn't keep JJ from each other. She deserves this moment for all the hurt she has inflicted on both Jalal and Jodha in the past. It is God's way of telling her she is powerless against His design and can do absolutely nothing to prevent destiny from coming true.
Sun had wondered what would happen that would pave the way for SR. And I must admit, the events leading up to the SR were ethereal. The way Jodha expressed her fears and insecurities and her helplessness at feeling jealous of his other wives when he went to them, it was really touching to see her so emotionally vulnerable at that time. Some of our friends had wondered how Jodha could be so jealous and actually cry so unashamedly on seeing him with Ruq. They had felt it was out of character for Jodha to feel the common feelings of jealousy like an ordinary woman, when she was not ordinary in any way. I had tried explaining in words that she was a woman in love and had every right to feel hurt, insecure and jealous. After all, hadn't she herself told Jalal that if she ever saw him with another wife, it would be an insult to her love? Wasn't she restless the whole night she thought he was with Ruq and felt at peace only when he swaggered to her bed and fell asleep there?
Just before she confessed her love, the way she said "hum is hriday ka kya kare" in a trembling tone that was so full of pain and feeling, it touched me deeply.
And the way Jalal explained to her that he couldn't forego his responsibilities to his other wives but Jodha would be the only one he would love always and whose name would be inextricably associated with his in history. Jalal has confessed his love many times now and all in different but extremely passionate and/or romantic ways. This present confession matches or perhaps surpasses the confession he made when her soul was departing after the vishpan.
There was so much love and sensuality hanging in the air around them. There was no real "action" but still the divine love shone thru. I just loved the way they confessed their love. There was no shyness in Jodha at that point, she looked him in the eyes and declared with deep feeling that she loved him. And the way Jalal said that he wouldn't have gone even if she hadn't stopped him shows how far he has come since the dhakka. Yesterday, there was no trace of that incident in his memory, as he persisted in trying to come close to her and kiss her, without any fear of rejection.
The "ballet of love" was beautifully conceived and choreographed. I take back everything I said about the director and the episode till yesterday. And I am absolutely happy that I was wrong, totally wrong about the SR happening on Monday. There was no ugly shadow of Ruq in the whole episode and it was just the two of them - a king and his queen, a pampered princess and a ruthless emperor, both evolved to mature and sensible human beings, just a husband and wife very much in love and very much longing to be together.
The fake pregnancy drama, though crude and crass, seemed like a necessary evil that had to be endured because it made Jo so insecure and anguished that she couldn't hold herself back from Jalal any more.
I am also happy that it wasn't Jalal who took the lead and made way for the SR. Jodha also couldn't stay away from him and chose to hold him back and chose to become one with him. It was something that both of them wanted strongly, not something that happened in a weak moment.
It was graceful of the director that he did not show the actual details and allowed the love story to remain pure and ethereal. It was heartwarming to see Jalal being so gentle with her, while Jodha was alternating between shyness and a desire to experience the sensations and feelings coursing thru her at the hint of a touch and a waft of his breath. She was looking her most exquisite yesterday and the setting in the last scene with those golden shimmer curtains, the blue high domes, the candles all around - absolutely romantic and stunning.
All in all, a beautiful episode that will remain my most fave JA episode. It was as pure and pristine as the lovemaking between Dilip Kumar and Madhubala in Mughal-e-Azam.đł
Mansi, I can never match you in describing scenes and elaborating on feelings. But here's an ode to my most-loved royal couple:
Aadha hain chandrama, raat aadhee
reh na jaaye, teri meri baat aadhi, mulakat aadhi.
piya aadhi hain pyaar ki bhaasha,
aadhi rehne do man ki abhilasha
aadhe chalke nayan, aadhe chalke nayan,
aadhi palkon mein bhi hain barsaat aadhi
aas kab tak rahegi adhuri
pyaas hogi nahin kya yeh puri
pyaasa pyaasa pawan, pyaasa pyaasa gagan
pyaase taaron ki bhi hain baraat aadhi
sur aadha hain shyam ne saadharaha radha ka pyaar bhi aadhanain aadhe milen, honth aadhe milenrahin pal mein milan ki woh baat aadhi
