Ekta has a new serial planned up for COLORS. She already has a serial on STAR. Both channels are bitter competitors of ZEE. Maybe there is some disagreement between Ekta and ZEE over this. Of all Ekta shows only JA has been the consistent money getter for Ekta's production house. It is Ekta's bread and butter, since according to Balaji's latest balance sheet, most of her movies have been flops, JA is the only bright spot.

So, maybe ZEE are putting pressure on Ekta by showing no promos, in order to force her to reduce her business dealing with rival channels. Of course, we all know that is never going to work.

Yes, JA is Zee's life-line. But Ekta's bread and butter? 😆
Ekta's last two films were major hits, Ek Villain will be a hit too, if we go by the buzz. Ekta does not need TV anymore. Ekta never needed TV. Her PH had already earned abnormal amounts of money from her K-shows. Ekta does TV because she likes feeling powerful in a small pond, also she genuinely likes making television shows as well. So, no it's no loss to Ekta, losing a crore a month won't make her any poorer. But Zee will go down big.

I studied Balaji Telefilms balance sheet for the last quarter. According to it, there were big losses. The losses were due to the poor performance of the film division. Most of the movies had been flops.

The only positive return was in the TV business. A show requires a good TRP and atleast 6 months of airing to recoup production costs. Thus Kumkum Bhagya and Yeh Hein Mohabattein did not contribute positive net revenue.

That leaves out JA, the only money earner for Ekta in the last quarter. Now, do you realize the importance of this serial for Ekta.

Most film PH goes through losses. Ekta's Main Tera hero and Ragini MMS 2 did pretty solid business recently. If Ekta can shut down shows like Kyunki, Tere Liye, Kasauti which had abnormally high TRPS in a day's notice, she won't hesitate to shut JA down. I don't think she will shut JA down, but people who think she needs tv shows like JA, YHM or so on, don't know how much money Ekta has. Two-three flops won't ruin her PH. Anyway, whatever makes you happy. Ekta does not need television, not now at least. She is here because she wants to be. Not because she needs it anymore. And JA's highest TRP was 5-6, right? Ekta has seen 22.

Whatever happened in the past does not matter. 10 years back there was much less competition than it is now, there was no internet, far fewer channels, no digitization etc so comparing with the past is an exercise in futility.

Ekta needs the TV business because that is what she is good at. Her track record in movies has been dismal. Look at her Profit/loss ratio in movies in the past 3 years. It is pretty bad. No businessman likes to lose money. Just because she has a lot of money does not mean she plans to lose it now.

She needs JA because it makes money. She can shut it down if she wants but that would not be a business decision, it would be an emotional decision.

its not the matter of loss n profit...this show is very special to her as its her first historic show n its a massive hit...plus when she started this show none of her other serials were doing well n this show brought her in limelight again so she won't neglect her show like this...its Zee who is behaving like a step mother
