it clearly shows how much hunger he had for learning more and inventing new things and also encouraging people who were intellectuals in various fields..he was not only a warrior but much more than that!

Humayun was a astronomer loved gazing at stars and recording their movements. Hence a crater is named after him
Jehangir loved experimenting with animals and carrying out experiements on cross breeding, soil etc. He correctly estiamted gestation period of elephants as 18 months later proved in 20th century
Shah Jahan from very young age was great at architecture. He built babar's garden and some rooms in kabul fort at a very young age impressing his father and all who saw that. Of course Taj and DEA at agra fort is there for all to see
Dara Sikoh translated upanishads
Zebunissa wrote poetry
Babar and Jehangir wrote autobiography despite their busy schedules
So a talented lottt

Splendid post. Loved reading it. Akbar was indeed a polymath. He had a very sharp mind and his case is illustrative in refuting the claim that you need formal education to gain knowledge and do well in life.

As far as inventions go, I believe he is credited with inventing a new kind of folding tent.

Thanks Donjas, and am posting his work on technology as 3 seperate posts - and you will read and understand why I did them all separately!!!! 😉

Thanks fatma. All this was an eye-opener for me too. We all know of his work as a social reformer and as a liberal thinker - Emperor, but all these aspects are not widely known - and I am thoroughly enjoying both reading and presenting all this info.

Ads,
Thanks so much for posting this 🤗🤗🤗

Ok, I have few Qs😆,

1. Why is Akbar called as Zelaldinus
2. Wats taqlid?
3. This statement went over my head,
Hence Abu'l Fazl's lament in the A'in that exchanges between scientists of various religious persuasions were not taking place because of 'the blowing of the chill blast of inflexible custom (taqlid) and the low flicker of the lamp of wisdom.'
Wat does it mean?
4. Whats Alcha?

Wid wat u have posted so far, Akbar had interest in
1. Metallurgy
2. Architecture
3. Carpentry
4. Acoustics
5. Science
6. Civil Engineering (Foldable Tents etc, can this be mentioned under Civil engg?)
7. Textiles

And I am 😲 reading all this. I mean, WTH!! No wonder he is called great👏.

Pardon my language but Who the hell ll have so much interest in so many things and its not interest in just watching, but he has involved himself in all these activities and have been successful mostly!

Wow!! Just Wowww!!👏

P.S: Its really a 🤔 I dnt hv words to say how astonished I am now. But even after all these activities and interests, he still had time to rage wars, conquer kingdoms, marry so many women, love Jodha, make babies and fight internal family battles!😲

We should really learn time management from this great guy!😃

Is he human or someone else altogether. No wonder u many times said that Akbar had Allah ka and Ms Universe ka saath😳

Krishi, I read so where or I think Adi only mentioned that, he used to sleep 4hrs or less than 4hrs a day. He achieved so much, did so many changes and was such liberal thinker, ahead of his times for that era. There were many Emperors, but very few are remembered till now. Even though an outsider, really it is proud to say that, he was an Emperor of Hindusthan👏
