Jalal and Ruq are childhood mates, friends and got married. They have grown up together-physically, mentally and emotionally. Ruq has no one in the world apart from Jalal-her husband and friend. She has spent all her years with this person who became ruler at a young age and pampered her. Bairam Khan taught Jalal to be ruthless, merciless, power hungry and unkind. Maham too teaches him to be orthodox, unrelenting and autocratic. Both these people influence him the most and he looks upto them. Ruq learns all this from Jalal and she too believes that this is life-power, status, control and being ruthless. Ruq friend, guide, mentor-all is Jalal-her whole world revolves around him. She feels that if there is no power, status, control then life would be miserable and end. What happened is that Jalal transformed by getting influenced from Jodha. Ruq is left behind. Being the husband and friend, it is duty and responsibility for Jalal to at least make attempt to support and guide his wife and friend. You support the family member in times of need and distress and not leave them alone to fight the misery. Polygamy does not mean he forgets or discards his first wife and childhood friend just because he loves someone else.
