It is hard to imagine that I started participating in the forum recently and you have excepted me with open arms! I love all the contributions you all make to my take 5 post, where we can celebrate, debate, and enjoy every episode ! Without a doubt, It is the forum that has made Jodha Akbar such a special show and experience for me!
As we get closer and closer to the actual admission of love, I thought it would be fun to celebrate together how we fell in love with the show and our leads, Akdha! Here in my take 5 style, are my top 5 moments in Akdha's journey. I am more excited to hear what are yours.
Here is my take 5:
(1) The first hand hold in shaadi saptaha: the shaadi week was truly the week I became glued to Jodha Akbar. I till date love the first physical hand-hold of Jodha Akbar during the kanyadaan scene. The hesitance of Jodha giving her hand and Jalal's proud sense of victory of holding her hand were so reflective of the beginning of their relationship and let us not forget, a saga of epic hand-holding. 😊 Later, on the Night, Jalal mentioned how much his hands shook at that moment, giving new meaning to that special scene for me.
(2) The tent scene (and don't think it is the body heat one) with the dagger: What intensity and what sparks! An angry Jalal is instantly calmed looking at a dazzling Jodha sleeping- signs of the future to come 😉 Jodha is not one to take things laying down... She attacks him with a dagger but he is too sharp- catches in on time. But Jalal puzzles her- he likes to see her in fear, but will not use force. He will save her from the world, but who will save her from him? Classic Jalal tedapan and this was Jodha's first major brush with it! Where are the physical sparks we saw between them now? Amazing it was.
(3) Aarti scene: What a brilliant scene! Where are the CVs/directors who shot this! Jodha reluctantly beginning to accept Jalal's presence in her life- goes to give him aarti. He in all playfulness feigns ignorance and she tries to teach a distracted student who is only staring at her and then busy holding her hand 😆But, he was pulling her leg the whole time as he has mastered the art of taking Aarti. It is another thing that this scene stared a legacy of beautiful scenes connecting them through the Aarti. I know there are many- including me- who hates the baandhi that interrupted the beautiful scene.
(4) The Kali Maa mandir scene: This might be a controversial one - but this was the first time I observed a real emotional connect between Jalal and Jodha. Jalal could sense Jodha's pain in the mandir and wanted to know. She, without holding back, tells her that she had promised to bring his head to Her feet and she could no longer do so. Recalling the looting incident, Jalal now has insight into why he hates her. To soothe the hurt, he does the imaginable- puts his Head at the Goddesses feet! I felt it was one of the scenes where Jalal really showed how much he understood and cared for Jodha and the extent to which he would go for his Jodha Begum. A trend that has only continued.
(5) The fireplace scene after Jodha's recovery: Beautiful stuff this was ... That I am not even going to try to describe it. Words cannot do justice to Jalal and Jodha- both completely in love but hesitant to be the first to make the move. They were like the hands on top of the fire- so close, they were almost touching, but not quite. That moment is still lingering over them ...
As we wait for the jashn and the attack next week which hopefully unfolds a beautiful chapter in their love story, please join me in celebrating your favorite Akdha moments and how you fell in love with the show!
