Abhay thanks for making the post. When you post it is for sure authentic information, not hearsay.

It feels incredible to learn that Akbar was so liberal and cared so much for women's issues also. He would not have been any less great if he had not bothered to interfere in what was sensitive issue from another religion.

So this slavery abolition was done first here. It went on for centuries in the West and especially America.

I feel nice knowing along with watching the serial we are getting good knowledge about such matters.

I wonder why when Jodha's grandmother had not gone sati, did her mother?
BTW so sati pratha was a custom it was not religious? Also was it practiced since Mahabhrata era?

Well I dont know much about history, I only follow Abhays posts. But I can answer one of your questions. Yes Sati is followed in mahabharatas time. When PanduRaj died his second wife Madri committed sati giving her sons Nakul and Sahadev to Kunti for raising them.

Again the freak Aurangzeb destroyed some parts of this tower.

Maddy,
America abolished it around 1865, during Lincoln's period.

Also, before Akbar a ruler of Delhi Sultanate tried abolishing Sati but left the idea as it was too tough for him to implement it. Will give the name later.

I do not know in DETAIL about Mahabharata as normal history but, there is reference to such practice in it.

Sati was initially ONLY VOLUNTARY.

So the show is on right track!!! Slavery was abolished from harem too 😲, maybe in coming episodes they will show Jalal abolishing the enslavement and conversion of war prisoners 😃. I was upset with this track and that particular spoiler but cannot complain now as they are very much following history!!

Shweta,

I/We wrote many times that CV's are following history with some "spice".
They are not taking away any credit from Jalal.😉

Already Adi made a wonderful post on Jalal, describing Jalal wonderfully.

Till date you have seen MANY tracks, which are from history. (If NOT all..)
Still before thinking we doubt everything..😆.!. Ab kya kar sakte hain phir..??..

TFS that Sati info .😊

Yes I remember reading about America and Lincoln's period and slavery and black issue etc all of places in Chicken soup for soul book!

I mean had read about it earlier but this one mention I remember reading recently.

BTW I read reply here that Madri went sati with Pandu, yes and Vrushali also went Sati with Karna

BTW very interested to know which ruler before Akbar had tried to stop it!

In mahabharata it was only voluntary sati. Kunti didn't do sati.

Even here in Amer it must have been voluntary only. That is why dadisa is alive. So it must have been a question of choice not compulsion. There might have been other families where it was forced and Akbar tried to stop that.

Abhay

Mirza haakim age and closeness to jalal is far from history. When one fact is compromised it is natural that doubts arise on every other aspect shown.

Sandhya.

My comment was not in reference to anyone particularly.

Regarding Hakim-Jalal's closeness.
Its as per HISTORY INITIALLY WHICH IS CORRECT...!!!!...
Only issue is about the selection of an actor who could have been of less age.. 😊

Sandhya I agree, I have written same here on page 5-6 I think. It started as a practice Jauhar and Sati as necessity of those times (for women to maintain dignity and kill themselves rahter than fall into hands of enemies) and later got converted into something else and glorified falsely to make sure women follow it.

Read my post. We were discussing about WHEN this sati practice came into being, so it was mentioned during Mahabharata.

Yes it was voluntary.
