Minor addition:
Najma was not any other minority member .
She was the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha of Indian Parliament.
And, was vociferously supported by other members in her demand.
And, she demanded a straight away ban.
And she has been raising this demand for a long time.

Whatever may be ACTUAL reason, that only Ekta knows .!.
Though she says, she is bowing out due to protests..😕
I am sorry but you don't understand Indian politics, Najma was an important leader in the Congress, she is a nobody in the BJP, because for the BJP minority votes are not important.
Najma wanted a ban because Akbar was being portrayed as a tyrant, that was long time back, in July 2013, there has been nothing on that front since. No BJP member in his right mind would have any problems with Akbar being shown as a tyrant because he along with Ashoka are the symbols of Indian secularism. Even Rahul Gandhi mentioned Ashoka and Akbar in his speech to highlight the ideals of the Congress Party.
But BJP is a very pragmatic party. When the movie JA was released they did not oppose it, nor did the Shiv Sena oppose it which has very strong ideas on many issues.
Karni Sena is a fringe group with very limited support, only 10 individuals could be mustered up on their last protest against Ekta. BJP won't bother to support such groups.
