New Delhi: An armed mob attacked the Zee Media office here and destroyed property and valuables on Monday.

Protesters belonging to an outfit called the 'Karni Sena' launched an attack over alleged misrepresentation of 'Rajputs' portrayed in the TV show 'Jodha Akbar' aired on the Zee TV channel.

Armed with assault weapons and daggers, the protesters raised slogans and destroyed property and valuables inside the premises.Police personnel stood in silence while the vandalism took place and barely made an effort to dispel the vandals.

The incident has yet again raised questions on the security of media personnel in the city.

The Karni Sena members, "miffed and disappointed" with soap queen's Ekta Kapoor's "non-materialising promises", regarding taking her controversial serial Jodha Akbar off air, has decided to launch a nationwide campaign against her. This, the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, is a community-based organistion that has been continuously protesting against Ekta 'distorting facts' related to the Rajput history in Balaji's serial.

Lokendra Singh Kalvi, chief of the Sena called for a press conference on Monday afternoon, and said, "We've been continuously requesting them to make certain changes in the serial. Despite several promises by Ekta Kapoor, no changes have been made. So we have decided to not let any of Balaji's films be released in the state." The 40-odd volunteers of the Sena also participated in a protest march to the channel's office in Jaipur, and also pasted a banner outside the office, which they insisted was "written in blood". Kalvi, who met the channel officials after that, said, "There is just no point in talking to the channel officials in Jaipur. They are not interested in solving the matter. We've no other option but to launch a nationwide protest. We will now take our protest to Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and other cities as well. I have scheduled a meeting with Delhi volunteers. We have decided to launch a campaign in Delhi where our volunteers will go to all the cinema halls and request them not to screen any films produced under the Balaji banner."

During the protest march, apart from writing out a poster in blood, they also also burnt Ekta's effigy.

u know akanksha this all karni sena protest votest drama goes like that coz if they solved this matter then unke pass tamasha karne ke liye khuch bachega hi nahi now look jaise hi credits se ekta ka naam hata toh yeh log zee marudhara ke office pahunch gaye pahle bhi toh kar sakte the off. par protest...ekta told them from starting clearly about zee roles in their demands...
