Mansi I hope you do not mind my very candid feedback.
HONESTLY I COULD NOT enjoy yesterday's episode.
I have been thinking why not, because no matter what, JA is always in mind.
Bold line in red above, I was shocked and dismayed at Jalal leaving just recovering from death bed wife out in the open while he slept cosily in tent with Rukayya. I CANNOT respect a person who will do that to any woman, forget his own Begum who almost died to save his life
So every action of Jalal now has become shallow in my mind. Cos whatever his feelings, they are not of much value if he lacks basic human decency towards his own wife, who is ready to die for him.
I know you're very angry with Jalal...but, I just had a slightly different take that helps me enjoy the episode for what it is...(and also like Mansi, think this was more a blooper than Jalal's overlook/partiality!)
I haven't moved on - but seen the bigger picture after watching the following episode (If I remember rightly, a similar thing had happened after the poison swallowing track too where everyone had assumed that he only cared for ruqaiyya when he said 'ham Jodha begum ko sambhaalenge'. The truth was anything but - he hadn't realized the potency of the poison and was right beside Jodha ever since!)
Similarly in this trip, He did take a stern stance against Ruqaiyya when she wanted to do the tour as a queen. He did taunt her during the roti scene and he makes no effort to hide his attraction for Jodha - what with his obviously wandering gazes even in Ruqaiyya's presence. So, we shouldn't assume he's not making choices. He is - littler steps at a time - but, it is overall in the right direction. After all, these choices mean undoing/going against a lot of things/people he's been used to for more than 11 years now and it will take time!
Besides, before voicing his overt opinion on the matter he might want a more definitive nod from Jodha to ensure that the feelings are mutual. After the unfortunate circumstances they've been through, he wants to make sure of that much before proceeding so and I can understand why.
Khema
Had Ruqaiyya not put up that tent, he would have been sleeping there with Jodha too..after all, the tent itself was an open one too...
He wasn't privy to the conversation they had or had an idea of what happened. He might have not wanted Ruqaiyya to throw another tantrum after having opposed her since both of them have had to listen to enough!
Also, on a practical perspective - Isn't that how the two would have slept for the last week anyway (except for the 1 night in jail and 1 night at TM's house)? Apart from the presence of a mattress itself, I don't see how inside the tent was safer...security-wise both measures would have been the same- had soldiers been present they would have been present for both..if absent, absent for both...
My take on why its a blooper is that the CVs seem to have kept it like Jalal considered it a mutual decision - because there is no guilt in his eyes as he casts his gazes upon Jodha- its more affection and longing on watching Jodha.😕 Similarly, she's just happy he's there watching her) So, I take it he's assumed it was her decision to sleep outside [Lets not even go down Jodha and Ruqaiyya sharing the tent route, because we all know the outcome of that one!😆]
We have to deduce the fact that he didn't let Jodha come to any harm because of the evident happiness she had on her face following her return to Agra.
What do we know what happened - she opens her eyes, sees him - he sees her and then cut to AK! What's to say he didn't spend 5 minutes inside and whole 5 hours with Jodha? What's to say what all they did/didn't do after that? 😛😉
After all, both queens were barely asleep when Jalal left Ruqaiyya's side, Ruq got up, watched them both and stormed off inside - so it couldn't have been deep into the night. At least, that's my assumption purely based on Jalal and Jodha's evident flirtatious happiness on their return!😊 Had the CVs portrayed it like a mistake of Jalal they would have shown him guilty and Jodha miffed - which they didn't...both leads are happy and Jodha makes a special mention of how he cared for her all through - so, I'm taking it that that's not what they were trying to achieve!
Additionally, we didn't witness a gloating Ruqaiyya (apart from her saying they both couldn't become intimately one) who would never have let a Jo-humiliation go by without a mention. So, its possibly a simple alternative sleeping arrangement - not an unsafe/humiliating one as we are taking it to be. Jodha is not blind in love and she will never be one - not like BB. [Had she been so, she wouldn't have opposed the man she loves to boldly go ahead to do what she did today i.e. meet BB - which is unlawful. She is not one to be blindly subdued in love.]
Had it meant to be an offensive scene, the CVs would have shown the outcome that way - but it wasn't (after all, it isn't like Jalal hasn't committed mistakes in the past and apologized for them😳)
So, my take is that it was symbolic - to show (according to the soul talk too) that - even if Jalal is beside Ruqaiyya, his heart is with Jodha and he comes to seek her company - drawn away from the closed confines and seeming luxuries of the tent.
It held more symbolism here than in the palace and so was put in here - better explanation/editing could have possibly achieved the effect it had to, but I think that's what they were trying to depict...
The reason why Jalal's actions are/will always dissected is because he the only one in the serial really caught in between both sides of the coin - and having to take decisions. So, his every word will be scrutinized and as he makes those decisions (some right/some wrong) he's going to come under fire - more than anyone else in the palace!
All I can say is that its taken both Jodha and Jalal a good time to be at the place they are at currently.. both have stumbled, fumbled and made mistakes - both have taken time to gain trust (what with so many forces working against them at every stage) and yet, they've emerged victorious!
Yes, there will be many more of such in future too (power play, politics, religious issues etc) that will try to be a thorn in their journey ahead together - but, them overcoming all of that if what makes this journey epic!
Hope these pointers above ^^^ helped you get over the anger and let you enjoy the beauty of the love story for what it is...
Mansi, I'm coming back to the pointers on yesterday's episode...😃
