There are two dimensions to the shove (and as you note, the debate between the two is pointless)
(1) She called him and then betrayed him (the letter MU)
(2) She doesn't love / accept him as a husband
Reading the letter will solve (1) which I think he has dismissed as her general confusion. I think (2) can be resolved by Jodha accepting him directly. Hence, perhaps the letter does not have to be read?
