Lashy, you must have seen this before I expanded it beyond that one liner, so here is the rest!

@ red. Aha, Lashy, so much for the effect of those calls! I told you the uncles would make sheep's eyes at Benazir!

What is more, there will be extra suspense as to what would happen to Jalal if he does marry the KT, will she oblige Abul Mali, or will she opt for the bird in the hand? After all, she is no fool, and if she believes that if Abul Mali gets the throne, she will actually become his Malika, she must have bats in the belfry.

So I suppose that kind of suspense would step up the TRPs. You are becoming like Jodha, my sweet, you are no longer able to see things from the other's perspective!

It is of course a ludicrous idea, and it will never reach the stage of fruition. But for now, I wonder what poor Ruqaiya will feel about this new announcement. Perhaps Jalal will tell her that the KT will not become a Begum if he goes if for a muta marriage and not a nikaah, who knows?

And why, pray, should Jalal not misunderstand Jodha over the Hakim-Shivani fiasco? She pushed it thru without so much a by your leave to him, sneered at him claiming that Hakim was better that him,and now she would have managed to make both brothers the laughing stock of the whole of Hindustan, not just of Agra.

In his place,I would have sent her back to Amer along with the whole Ameri gang, who naturally would have to pay for the crass folly and selfishness of their youngest. What do you want him to do, an aarti of Jodha Devi for having heaped this public humiliation on his whole family? Why should he believe what she will be offering as excuses? She never believes him when he says something sincere to her, now how can she expect trust where she offered none?

In fact, I am just waiting to see Jodha's face when Shivani goes missing, trashing the rajvanshi sanskaars that she was boasting about to Jalal. Schadenfreude, yes, but amply deserved.

No, of course she did not reply, Mandy, and I would not have expected her to either. Think of the hundreds of messages of all kinds she must be getting every day, what with her TV productions, her films and of course her friends. If she were to reply to all of them, she would be doing nothing else.

I would be content if she read it before it was buried under the next dozen SMSes, and took something of it on board, that is all. That is why I tried to make it non-abrasive and non-confrontational. Unlike the vast majority of the forum, I do not overestimate my relevance to her!😉

As for at least something useful coming out of that SMS, the trouble is that Balaji seems to be thriving on the current tripe, if what I am told about nearly 6 TRPs is correct.

Vox populi, vox dei. The voice of the people is the voice of God, janata janaardhan!!! We count for nothing in this broad scheme of things, especially since 99% of the current dissenters can be won over with a couple of Jalal-Jodha clinches, or even more handholdings.

What unexpected treasures you dig up, Sara my dear!

This one is charming, and sad too, though thus lament of a language not as valued as it was in the past is not limited to Urdu. It holds good for Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and even Hindi.

I have highlighted the poets I know, but there are so many more of them in this lovely poem. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I think the problem with most of us here is not the tracks but the story telling / script and the characterization specifically the character of the Emperor.

Let there be Benny baby whom TE has made his khaas. And whom he now will announce to marry - what we would like to see is a TE who is fully aware what KT is and who has sent her (even if he does not knw of her as a vishkanya but knws as Mali's jasoos sent to kill him) and is using KT with a 3 point agenda - sniff the Mali rat out, keep MA and AK off balance and rile Jodha (in fact he realised that his favoring KT riled Jodha only when Benny had jumped into the river)

Let the Shivani story happen - as long as we get to see a TE who is again aware of Shivani's shenanigans which is why he has been consistently wanting to knw why Jodha and the Ameris wanted the rishta (to chk if they knw of Shivani ki prem gatha). I would even love to see that Shivani came to TE after MA's Blackmail and confessed all to TE.

As for the paigam sent by Jodha read by MA which caused the situation - though I would like to see is a TE who has deduced that MA did create the MU, on his own (and his anger is in Jodha's inability to see beyond her own nose and then calling his half confessed feelings as SKL), I doubt EK and her team will ever do that - though they did have TE saying that despite his not trusting himself he trusted Jodha they do get sadistic pleasure in showing a mahaan heroine who pardons the hero who wronged her.

BTW one interesting pt. - There are only 3 ppl other than Jodha and TE who know of the push and shove - MA, Ruqu babes and Benny baby. MA deduced since she was the mastermind and had been spying oh TE and Jodha and since then has been kuredoing the wound and TE deliberately lets her - Why? Ruqu was told by TE (seemed deliberate) - Why? and Benny baby was also told by TE (supposedly when he was in his cups but seemed deliberate and hence suspicious) - Why? - If in all this the writers can give us a TE who was always in the know, we can raise a toast to them!!!

The makers need to remember that the male protagonist of their show was the Emperor who is counted as one of the greatest - and who had the very best spy network (he needed it to keep himself 10 steps ahead of his nay sayers who were many, thanks to his liberal views), the very best army and artillery which he kept ever ready for any march. They need to remember that this Emperor held liberal views on religion even before Jodha (which comes from his Persian ancestry from his mother HB and his affinity to the Sufi teachings since boyhood - he is supposed to have learnt by heart the works of Rumi and Hafiz). They need to remember that this Emperor was brilliant of intellect with a phenomenal memory and his entire learning was thru the use of ear instead of eye - I really envy him this particular ability!!! They need to remember that this Monarch was the richest ever all time at the time of his death with a huge personal fortune (which is after an even bigger fortune that he had given away as gifts and alms all thru his rule). They need to remember that he was a master of disguise who wandered in his kingdom in disguise even befor Jodha came ala Harun Rashid. They need to remember that he recevied the humble gifts of his common subjects with greater pleasure over the ostentatious gifts of his nobles. They need to remember that he was a man who had a very strong temper which he kept leashed - and could be awesum in his rage but would also easily and quickly calm down. They need to remember that this man understood men and their foibles and their psyche extremely well.

In every Ekta serial there is a tradition that after a while, usually after the lead pair is married, the hero is pushed aside. It is the heroine who gets the importance. I was happy it wouldn't be so in this case since the story begins with a wedding. But now, just a few months into the show, the male lead has become just a tool. He provides the plot, the female protagonist then weaves her story and continues it till she is tired of it. It is really disappointing to see such talent wasted, Aunty.
Jalal has become unpredictable. You don't know when he will bring out his arrogance and when he won't react.
I didn't watch Friday's episode. Based on what I little I have read about it, it looks like I don't need to. Ruqaiyya hasn't heard about the wedding proposal until two days after being put forward. Isn't she Mallika-E-Begum?

My dear Sneha,

After watching the Friday episode, I no longer know what to think or feel. It is all so abysmal, chaotic and senseless that even I am at a loss for words. Jodha always was like a typical, always right Ekta heroine complete with a 24 carat burnished halo. But Jalal was fresh and appealing, but now that Jalal is not to be seen at all. Yesternight, when I was compiling the full list of all my 82 posts on Jodha Akbar to date, from 30/6/2013 to this one, for Sandhya, I fell to reading my old posts and I felt dismal, seeing anew what Jalal was like and what he is like now.

That reference of yours from P&P is very cleverly chosen; I laughed out loud when I read it. Hamida Banu is very irritating most of the time.

As for Maqsood Khan's manner of departing this world, it might not be a bad idea if Benazir bites Jodha. We can then have Jalal trying to save her by sucking out the venom and dying himself. We can be rid of both of them and rest in peace.

I hope you do not regret having asked for it!😉 I should thank you, for without this incentive, I would never have got around to it.

We must form a negligible minority, who wish to see the Emperor at the helm. I personally can put up with any number of 'Om Jodhaya Namaha' by HB & Co, any number of Javeda-Mahaam charade, Ben-baby as kaneez or begum and other absurdities if only Jalal is shown to be the exceptional emperor he was.
But even in the forum, a greater number want Jalal to personally do 'Om Jodhaya Namaha' himself, and be nothing short of an ISI 100% shudhdha pati, never mind he was an emperor or not. His justified anger, his hatred, his rudeness, his other wives and love interests (though his being polygamous is a given from the beginning), nothing can be borne. That seems to be the unchangeable mindset of the majority of the viewers. What could be said about those in the suburbs! The very people who wish to see heroes larger than life in movies, want to see them as weak doormats in TV serials even if they are emperors, and EK gives and profits out of just that.
Even Akbar doesn't seem to be immune to Ekta's style of handling things. I only wish she doesn't proceed to butcher other historical figures after this. If at all she wishes to play in history after having tasted success in this, wish she limits herself to the likes of Jhansi Rani, where 'Hamari heroine mahaan' will stand justified.
As for me I think I'll just stick on till the few of us here do. If it really becomes unbearable, I'll imagine that after Mohan, the Shahenshah had a change of heart, wooed his wife in Amer and after the fort issue, they understood each other and lived happily ever after.
Actually after that Jalal-corrosion began and nothing made sense.
I'm not so angry at the stale treatment of the show now, as that is the rule not the exception; but at the way they tempted the likes of us with a fabulous first 100 episodes, lifting our expectations so high and then giving a dhakka.
In your reply to Sneha, you had written
"As for Maqsood Khan's manner of departing this world, it might not be a bad idea if Benazir bites Jodha. We can then have Jalal trying to save her by sucking out the venom and dying himself. We can be rid of both of them and rest in peace"
So frustrated, are you?!😭
Adiana,
I'm surprised that you still see some hidden plan in each of Jalal's actions. Even I do hope sometimes but now I'm even tired of hoping and expecting.
