I agree maham gets too much screen time. It's really irritating. Benazir is also not turning out to be the chandramukhi types.

It's very insensitive of her to give him that gift , but I suppose it's her good wishes for him. Her badapan when he is being an ass. We can either be appaled by her insensitivity or just put that down to naivety and ignore it. I don't think she meant to hurt him, she just never thinks of the implications as usual and why would she when the trio are ever ready with their Pom poms to cheer her every move. No matter what that is HB will defend jodha. A more sensitive mother would have picked up on her sons behavior esp when she herself has claimed many times that her sons is a fair emperor . I guess this is why he doesn't connect with her. And I am stunned by how little she thinks of every other bahu.

Wouldn't this gift on his birthday been far more personal and touching than the awaam well digging thing? That was so contrived. And he would not have looked like an insensitive emperor which was a direct contrast to everything else we had seen till then .

So now that his brain cells are fried because he is not only looking like a fool, he is insulting all his other begums, and in due process he is made a joke of all the Mughal customs. So I wonder what happened to the earlier Jalal who said he would never let her or anyone and would guard the sultante pride with his life, but now all that is gone out the door.
