Guys, don't even blame the CVs. The Indian history (not exactly Mughal & that too Akbar) is so much full of this kind of situations, where the king use to stay with the court dancer forgetting his responsibility and on many occassions, the ministers were to meet him @ the dancer's place to get some approvals where the kings approval was must. Here atleast, Jalal is shown courting Benazir at his own room but there were cases the Indian rulers spent months / years together in those dancer's house fully drunk and forgetting not only his state but also his family.
The dancers were the ladies (parden me for addressing them as ladies, though I am feeling bad to call them so) who knew how to use their language (both verbal & body) to please the king to get whatever they wanted.
On Many occasions, the enemies use to use teh beautiful dancers as their spies in their opponants court to get the prime details.

I agree with you, jaya..it is not dance girl track that put me off but insulting one's wife in public which put me off..most kings clearly demarcated the behaviour with wives in public and that in private..I had no problem with jalal's altercation with jodha in his hojraa..that was his wounded pride and male ego speaking but isn't there a court decorum on how you treat your wives..I do understand that dancers use their guile in luring the kings and fleece them in turn or get their heart's desire but not at the cost of belittling your wife in public..belittling a wife in private is entirely different as the cvs could have used this to downgrade jodha' s value in the harem but they took a crass route in this ,is my grouse..

Lizzy, may be that was not so exclusive scene for the courtiers that the king favours one today & the very next day he will ignore her and elcome the other. If not Ruqu also would have felt insulted when Jalal called the dancer , sorry his KHAS THOFA to sit next to him along with his KHAS BEGUM. We saw him doing the same with Ruqu when he called Jodha to sit next to him during his birthday celebration. So it might have been common for Mughals. The fight between Jodha & Jalal is known only to JODHA, JALAL, RUQU & Maham. Others are ignorant about it so it was exactly degrading her in public as public don't know their problem. Only Jodha realized it as a humiliation attack on her.

guys , atleast today iam mentally prepared for what all is to come ...i would be observing jalal's expression all through the scenes ...for sure because for one i cannot see ben girl... but as jaya has suggested i would try and put my "indifference-2D" glasses on , just to avoid a BP attack and see everything as a 16th century tel-a-tale ... and with the facts regarding the kings of those times revived ... i would wait for jodha to do some self- talk...

That is all ...😉

Your post was great, and gave me a lot of insight into Jalal's odd behaviour. As said on this page, I felt very sorry for Jodha and hope Ruqaiya will go to see Jodha Ekta should visit the Forum and also check with her writers at the same time.

Exactly , and i think only the harem was present for this function but what added to the acid was jodha getting up to sit with shenshah , which made this act of the king a direct insult to her , if she had not got up then the insult would not have been directed to her but the whole lot of begums that jalal had and also begum-e-khas the most ... this act where C.V's asked jodha to get up in anticipation did not go well with me ... and as far as 16th century monarchs are concerned , they had a mind of their own regarding pleasurable activities but basis etiquette are the most strong and fascinating to watch in royality , even now

Ela, please don't feel bad. No one is finding fault in Jodha but they are telling that he took it as an insult and so he is avenging her with humiliation. NO one in this forum would ahve anted Jodha to give herself to the lust of that drunken king
