This post is to express my opinion on forum response to crime against women and kids. I am using this thread as a platform to express my views, as well as respond to your current as well as previous posts where you expressed your desire to get two minors,Tasneem and Maan Singh married...please take this as nothing more than a constructive criticism ... No offence intended at all...you are a very good writer and keep it up... I am sure that i am way older than you, therefore will be happy to help you see this from a different prospective...I am also a very romantic person like most of our other forum members...We all look for romance in even the worst of situations...this reflects the never dying positivity in us humans...an essential element for our survival.
However, there are exceptions to the rule. I strongly believe that some issues( even if fictional) should not be subjected to romance at all...for example rape and violence ... It indirectly leads to glorification of the crime and at the same time distracts people from focussing on the real issue ( child marriage her). I am not talking about what really happened in the past ( akbar's life). This may or may not have happened. Ancient and medieval societies were not easy on women and kids. Even in the 21st century, certain places in the world are very dangerous for the most vulnerable people, women and kids... We, who have led a very previlidged life, don't seem to get that sometimes. You'll find plenty of books on Amazon under romance/ erotica glorifying and romantacizing crime against women ...what is shocking is that most of the readers are women...Therefore, encouraging more and more authors to continue writing...i also had a previledged life and did not understand the horrifying facts about these issues till I closely worked with battered women and kids . I am not sure if I still fully understand the extent of trauma they went through. There is nothing romantic about their lives...only the struggle to survive. I may be in minority here, but i find ignorance/ romatisization of a crime against innocent people very disgusting... We can't get off the hook by arguments like ...' they had a sheltered life'. We don't have to get murdered to understand how horrible murder is...anything that takes away the attention from the disgusting nature of the practice of child marriage ( even if it is a response to a tv show) is hard to accept...at least to me... The social meassage gets lost... Tasneem is a victim of child abuse and possible rape in future. I see the ' right to entertainment' acceptable as long as it does not take people's attention away from the real issue is bothersome. Some people kill for thrill... Can we ignore that and focus the discussion on the machismo or love life of the killer or even victim ? Crime against women and children is becoming an epidemic, anything that causes distraction from the seriousness of this crime, even when the intentions are good, is selfish and immature in my eyes.
For a change theCV's are focussing on a real issue that affected the lives of thousands and thousands of people in that era... Let us see what they do about it without sending message which defies logic.
Thanks and keep writing!
