Mischief...innocent or malevolent..is always revealing of a razor sharp intellect and deep perspicacity...be it Jalal in the former...or my fave villain ever..Moriarty...in the latter...I adore his character...a true intellectual mirror match of the brilliance of Sherlock...well Jalal ain't Sherlock...đ„±đ€but he is wickedly naughty just the same...and that does reveal his sharp claw thought process...one which makes him a fascinating character to observe...
Jodha is just beginning to get a grip on this. After all, where has she ever met someone like him...in Amer.???..amidst all the Rajyavanshi bluster...with no coherent thought held amongst 100 hotheadsđ·...with the exception of the astute Pratap...(who is truly well played...albeit in a restrained manner..by whoever it is playing him.). PUHLEEZE...!!! Absobloomilutely not...she is ..or at least..has been shown as a voice of reason and justice...more often that not...so there really is no frame of reference for her to puzzle out a wiseass like Jalal...and Sujamal...who might have been of some aid...is AWOL..bummer!!!!
So..Jodha and Jalal...interesting characters these...and here's why I think he actively seeks her...
Contrary to some fine opinions on this forum, and there are a few that I enjoy reading...this is a battle of equal wills..hers 'gainst his...honest, forthright, stubborn..bullheaded...and to sum up all this in one word...often intransigent...but in all of this..the one common thread is uncompromising honesty...
This...and this quality alone..is the clean, untainted, fresh air that this Lord of the realm appears to deeply appreciate...else the allure of her looks would have worn off a long time ago...perhaps forgotten totally...hence the misplaced confidence of the depicted Ruqaiyya and Maham...they have after all ...seen this happen before..
Esp. P/S.A...or post suicide attempt, there is a development of insight on the part of the Emperor...he Is shown as beginning to empathize...a fact that does not escape the increasingly alarmed Maham...who always has been the sharpest mind mongst the antagonists..(gosh! I do love this character..) this empathy is what softens this Jalal towards this Jodha...( stress on this coz they are 16 th century characters in a 21st century framework)...Jalal now has insight into her inner conflict...coz he somehow has developed the uncanny ability to step into her dainty jootiis and see the situation from her perspective...and here is where you get to see the Great Emperor he is to become...a Regent with the ability to be multi-perspective,and then arrive at astute..ish conclusions...
The Jalal from history becomes increasingly disillusioned with organized religion...he is after all a scientist of sorts...constantly curious and questioning...seeking to isolate truth from myth...and why not...he was..despite his dyslexia...prolly one of the sharpest minds of his time...and still would be...
Jodha has had to face a see-saw Jalal...the one who claimed her as a trophy...then proceeds to taunt her at every turn...softens...then turns into an asinine hothead bent on vengeance...đwith some cause yes..but You R the effin Emperor..for crying out loud..justice starts with you...forgot the memo..is it?..
Then...after popping the head of Sukanya's would be nincompoop...he proceeds to be helpful, gracious, funny, mischievous, amorous,covetous.,patient,kind...jeez...I am getting whiplash as I am writing this...đ, so it's a wonder that she hasn't run a marathon in the opposite direction...must be the lack of good shoes...no Asics or Nikes...đ
Contrary to opinions here, methinx she is gradually beginning to get a handle on him...no doubt coz he is letting her in... A privilege which he hasn't even granted to La Ruqs...prolly becoz he is aware of the self-interest,and from his interception of the glance between Maham, Adham and Shareef- he is kinda getting the sense that yahaan to poori dal hi kaali hai...
Phew...now as she begins to decipher him...she will give him a run for his money...u go girlie...make him work for ur affection...for in quoting L'Oreal...you're worth it...đ
And with this extemporation...I hereby return my brain to snooze...đ„±
