You quoted me shyamala I am so honored. I can't write as well as you, your command of the vocabulary is superlative I am touched you liked what I wrote.
Newtons law of gravity excellent conjecture, this is not true just between episodes but within a episode too. How the first half was good and the second half unacceptable.
I think we all have screamed hoarse and bruised our finger tips at typing our distaste and soon to become hatred for Jodha. I might be in the minority but who else loves Salima Begum. I know on a physicality level they don't match, but she is so dignified and such a lovely human being. If only Jalal could love her and she has Rahim too they would make such a lovely family. So far the only reason for Jalal to like Jodha is because she is pretty, doesn't that make it shallow, infact Jodha has more reasons to love him but she doesn't what does that tell you about her. True love isn't about physicality anyways, Salima and Jalal could share a far deeper understanding and togetherness more than which Jodha is capable of offering. Infact his love life isn't that hopeless for whatever faults ruquaiya has, she does love him her own sort of way and salima admires him would that not be enough for Jalal to feel special.
If I had every problem with Jodha I had no problem so far with the way Jalal is written. I even accepted which I didn't like at first that his sexual naughtiness is part of his charm and in retrospect it did add more flavor to his character. But this episode where he is shown to almost pleading with Jodha nooo that is where I am going to draw the line on his character development. In a love story both the characters should be moving forward if not at the same rate but atleast in the same direction. If the writers even care to salvage this epic love story, which is seeming less epic by each episode it is time for Jalal to put Jodha in her place and go about his business. I thought epicness was going to be in their love, so far the only thing I am seeing is how much patience can a 16th century emperor have the answer is epic proportions.
I loved your reference to Gone with the Wind. One of my all time fav movies. What a scene you highlighted, one of the most highly contested scenes in english literature, was it or was it not consensual. We all know how that movie ended, Scarlett got her due punishment and it is time for Jodha to get hers. Rhett fervent love for Scarlett was that he didn't want to tame her, he wanted her to love him in her wildness, the irony being that was what he soon realized was exhausting and he left her. Hahaaa as I write that I reminded of a even bigger irony, MA gleeful laughs that Jalal will throw aside Jodha once he physically haves her, but the joke is on Jodha, he wont toss her aside for that but what he truly craves she doesn't have and it has nothing to do with Sex. Would Jalal soon find Jodha exhausting??? Scarlett's most epic line 'After all tomorrow is another day', will we have Jodha echo such sentiments.
